The recent popularity of Internet, and of the Browser like Netscape,
has done that a big quantity of persons want show the own works in
this new form.
The formats graphics supported by Netscape and by the other
Browser is prevalently BITMAP, that is the image has stored as a lot
of PIXEL.
This goes very well for the photos and the drafts realized with Bitmap
computer program, like the Paint Brush, but is decidedly uneconomic
for all the drawings of vectorial type.
In particular Architects and Engineers have represented their plans
with images always "vectorial," this also before the PC give a peculiar
meaning to the "vectorial" word.
Michelangelo asserted that he considers very much the sketch, while
the paint of filling is a very simpler thing and of minor importance,
amazing declaration for that which we consider a teacher of the paint.
Klee speaking about a his "line" told that it had cost him ten years of
researches.
The Art Noveau took by the "line" the same reason of his existence,
and it theorized the communicative and expressive energy of it, with
the persuasives demonstrations to all well notorious.
Oddly the expands initial of Internet has neglected the aspects of
"line," in favor of most immediate and apparently spectacular
BITMAP, but the bitmap images behaves a series of problem and
disadvantages.
Transmit a borne as Vectorial sketch in terms of BitMap by means of
Internet is decidedly disadvantageous, it suffices think that a simple
line which cross the screen in diagonal, on an ordinary VGA monitor,
might be memorized in vectorial format with only two points:
P1 (0,0)
P2 (640,480)
For transmit the same line in Bitmap format it is instead necessary
transmit all the information for each point of the rectangle that contains
it, that is:
640x480= 307.200 Points
Therefore the Vectorial transmission would be of only 4 bytes, while
that Bitmap would require 307.200 bytes.
A Bitmap image could not be magnified, without a parallel loss of
resolution and of quality, while an vectorial image could be magnified
how much times are wanted, maintaining a good resolution always.
Oddera NetSlide World Wide Web Slide Viewer resolves the
problem of Architects and Engineers finally, and of how many
anything else has necessity of show sketch and vectorial drawings on
Internet.
The used format from NetSlide is Autocad Slide, draws aside
compact to can be almost considered an algorithm of compression
rather than a format, in fact coincident points of more lines comes
assembled in a single point, and to their turn bundled in the byte of
various order of an single number.
