----------------------------------------------------------------
This driver conforms to v4.0 of the Novell DOS Open Data-Link
Interface (ODI) specification.
You may load the DOS driver in upper memory to free up conventional
memory in a system.
Current Release of LSL.COM Required
A change in the DOS ODI specification requires that a current version
of LSL.COM be used with the DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI NetWare DOS ODI
Client Driver. Use version 2.16 (4/17/95) or later of LSL.COM with
the DEFPA.COM driver.
NetWare OS/2 ODI Client Driver (v1.01) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI

This driver conforms to v2.1 of the Novell OS/2 Open Data-Link
Interface (ODI) specification.
NetWare 3/4 ODI Server Driver (v3.30) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
----------------------------------------------------------------
This driver conforms to v3.3 of the Novell Assembly HSM Open Data-Link
Interface (ODI) specification.
Notes on Older NetWare Server Support
Previous to the v3.3 Novell Assembly HSM ODI specification, LAN drivers
worked under NetWare 3.11, 3.12, 4.00, 4.01, 4.02, 4.10,
NetWare SFT III 3.11, NetWare SFT III 4.10, and NetWare SMP 4.10.
With this latest release, Novell will only support NetWare 3.12 and
NetWare 4.10, and above. This includes NetWare SFT III 4.10 and
NetWare SMP 4.10. Users of older operating systems are encouraged
to upgrade to a newer release of NetWare. The NetWare Bus Interface
modules included in this kit and supplied by Novell (NBI.NLM and
NBI31X.NLM) are only supported under NetWare 3.12 and NetWare 4.10,
and above. For more information, refer to Novell patch kit
LANDR9.EXE or later.
NetWare SFT III 3.1X MSL Driver (v2.00) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
------------------------------------------------------------------
This driver does not support the DEClma utility.
NetWare SFT III 4.X MSL Driver (V2.00) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
-----------------------------------------------------------------
This driver does not support the DEClma utility.
NDIS 2.01 OS/2 Driver (v2.19) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
--------------------------------------------------------
The DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI NDIS 2.01 OS/2 Driver does not support
the DEClma utility.
NDIS 2.01 DOS Driver (v2.19) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
-------------------------------------------------------
The DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI NDIS 2.01 DOS Driver does not support
the DEClma utility.
You may load the DOS driver in upper memory to free up conventional memory
in a system.
Windows 95 Driver (v1.82) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
----------------------------------------------------
The DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI Windows 95 driver does not support the DEClma
utility.
IPX/SPX and NetBEUI Protocol Stacks Do Not Function Over FDDI
Microsoft's IPX/SPX and NetBEUI protocol stacks that ship with Windows 95
do not support FDDI NDIS 3 Windows 95 drivers. However, Microsoft's
TCP/IP stack does support FDDI. If you are intending to run IPX/SPX
or NetBEUI protocol stacks over this driver, please contact Microsoft for
information on when this support will become available in Windows 95.
Note: Windows NT has full protocol support for FDDI.
PATHWORKS Upgrade Needed for Proper Operation on FDDI
If you are running Digital's PATHWORKS for Windows 95 product, you'll
need to upgrade to v1.0A which adds support for FDDI NDIS 3 Windows 95
drivers.
Windows NT 3.5/3.51/4.0 Alpha-based Drivers (v1.82) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI Windows NT 3.5/3.51/4.0 Alpha-based drivers do not
support the DEClma utility.
Update Button Not Supported under Network Settings
The "Update" button under Network Settings only searches for
"OEMSETUP.INF" files and not "OEMSETNT.INF" files. Microsoft
has informed Digital Equipment that this support will be added
in a future release of Windows NT. See the A:\WINNT\README.TXT
file for more information.
Newer Windows Help Utility Needed for Windows NT 3.5
Users running Windows NT 3.5 will need to install an updated version
of Microsoft Windows Help to view the driver help file.
PATHWORKS for Windows NT Doesn't Recognize FDDI Driver
Microsoft made a change in the MediaType Registry keyword definition
that impacts PATHWORKS for Windows NT v4.1B. The MediaType value for
FDDI was documented as "4", but should be "3". The OEMSETNT.INF file
included in this kit, as well as the OEMNADD3.INF and OEMNADDF.INF
files that Microsoft supplies have been updated with the new value.
The corrected value allows AppleTalk routing options to now appear
when configuring Services for Macintosh. However, it causes PATHWORKS
for Windows NT to no longer recognize FDDI.
A temporary workaround is to edit the Registry (using REGEDT32.EXE)
and change the value of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Defpa1/
Parameters/MediaType
from 3 to 4. This should be done before installing PATHWORKS for
Windows NT.
Windows NT 3.5/3.51/4.0 Intel-based Drivers (v1.82) for DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI Windows NT 3.5/3.51/4.0 Intel-based drivers do not
support the DEClma utility.

The "Update" button under Network Settings only searches for
"OEMSETUP.INF" files and not "OEMSETNT.INF" files. Microsoft
has informed Digital Equipment that this support will be added

file for more information.
