  13. This README.TXT file describes the contents of the DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
  14. DOS-format Distribution Diskette (Disk 1).  This diskette contains the
  15. following files:
  16.  
  17.       o  Drivers that allow the controller to operate on network
  18.      operating systems
  19.  
  20.       o  System diagnostics utility
  21.  
  22.       o  Digital Local Management Application (DEClma)
  23.  
  24. The diskette is organized in several subdirectories.  The subdirectories
  25. and their contents are summarized below.  Each subdirectory contains a
  26. README.TXT file that provides detailed operating and installation
  27. instructions for its associated software.

  29. Some of the README.TXT files are long.  You can print a copy of the
  30. appropriate README.TXT before beginning any of the installations.  To
  31. view the README.TXT file, you can use a text editor installed on your
  32. system, or use the following procedure:

  34. At the MS-DOS prompt, enter the following:
  35.  
  36.        MORE <README.TXT
  37.  
  38. The text output pauses at the end of each full screen.  The text output
  39. resumes when you press ENTER.  To stop viewing the README.TXT file,
  40. press CTRL-C.

  43. DOS-FORMAT DISTRIBUTION DISKETTE ORGANIZATION

  45. The root directory of the DOS-format Distribution Diskette contains the
  46. following files:
  47.  
  48. README.TXT   - This file
  49. RELEASE.NOT  - Driver release notes for the DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI
  50. DEFDDI.INF   - Used by Windows 95 to install the Windows 95 driver
  51. OEMSETUP.INF - Used by Windows for Workgroups to install the DOS NDIS
  52.            driver in that environment
  53. OEMSETNT.INF - Used by Windows NT to install the Windows NT drivers
  54. DISK1        - Used by Windows NT to install the Windows NT drivers
  55.  
  56. The root directory of the DOS-format Distribution Diskette contains the
  57. following subdirectories:

  61.    Contains a README.TXT file with hints and suggestions on using your
  62.    system's ROM based configuration utility to configure your DEC 
  63.    FDDIcontroller/PCI.
  64.  
  65. \DECLMA
  66.  
  67.    Contains the user's manual for the DEC Local Management Application
  68.    (DEClma).  The DEClma executable files may be found with the device
  69.    drivers.

  71. \DIAG
  72.  
  73.    Contains the system diagnostics for the controller.  Run the diagnostics
  74.    to verify the proper installation of the controller, or if you suspect
  75.    that there is a controller hardware failure.

  77. \MSLANMAN.DOS
  78.  
  79.    Contains the DOS NDIS 2.01 driver for the controller and the installation
  80.    files needed for installing the driver under Microsoft LAN Manager.

  82. \NDIS2
  83.  
  84.    Contains NDIS 2.01 DOS and OS/2 drivers and installation files and
  85.    instructions for installing the drivers under the IBM LAN Server
  86.    and PATHWORKS environments.
  87.  
  88. \NOVELL

  90.    Contains the drivers for Novell NetWare client and server operations
  91.    and for using your controller as a Mirrored-Server Link adapter
  92.    under NetWare SFT III.  Corresponding versions of DEClma are also provided.

  96.    Contains information on driver support for QNX real-time operating system.

  100.    Contains SCO UNIX driver and installation instructions for the controller.
