  1. This README.TXT file provides the information for installation
  2. of VIA VxD Driver which supports Accelerated Graphics Port(AGP)
  3. functionalities.

  6. System Requirements
  7. ===================
  8. This driver should be installed on a system with the VIA AGP chipset,
  9. VT82C597 or later, and others' chipsets will not be supported. The VIA VxD
  10. Driver is only supported by Windows 95 OSR 2.1 (4.00.950 B) or later version.

  12. For Win95 users,you will need to
  13. 1. Get "USBSUPP.EXE" from Microsoft, which includes the USB supplement
  14.    and a new memory manager (VMM32.VxD) needed for the AGP DIME (Direct
  15.    Memory Execute) feature. 
  16. 2. Get DirectX 5.0 from Microsoft. DirectX 5.0 is the first DirectX version
  17.    that supports AGP's DIME. 
  18. 3. Get AGP Master (I.e., AGP VGA) Driver from VGA Supplier.
  19. 4. Get "VIAGART.VXD", a virtual device manager which usually will be
  20.    installed in the following installation procedure of the Windows 95 card
  21.    driver.

  23. For WinNT users, you will have to wait until WinNT 5.0 is released.

  25. Installation Instructions
  26. =========================
  27. 1. Run program "SETUP.EXE" in the VIA VxD driver floppy and it will install
  28.    the VIA VxD Driver automatically onto your Windows 95 system.
