  2. About the file :

  4.         This readme file contains Flash ROM installation procedures when
  5.         you need to update the BIOS. You have one of the following channels
  6.         to get the BIOS for your system.

  8.         . update diskette from your dealer or retail store
  9.         . update files from manufacture's BBS No:886-2-6018227
  10.         . update files from manufacture's Internet Addr:www.iwill.com.tw

  14.          # Flash EPROM provides better upgradeability and a convenient way #
  15.          # to update sytem BIOS. Please follow the next procedures "How to #

  21. About the model of motherboard :
  22.  
  23.         This readme file just illustrates the TV model. Regarding other model,
  24.         user must make sure the motherbaord was updated with its correct
  25.         BIOS. ex:
  26.  
  27.         Model:P55TV Lite Ver1.2   Filename:TVLmmdd.BIN
  28.                                  (Note:mmdd means month and date)

  30. How to update the BIOS :
  31.  
  32.      1. Check if you need to update the BIOS - turn on your computer and you
  33.         will see the following message shown on the screen.
  34.  
  35.                 Award Modular BIOS V4.50PG, An Energy Star Ally
  36.                 Copyright (c) 1984-94, Award Software, Inc.
  37.  
  38.                 TV (mmm.dd.1996)
  39.  
  40.         Compare the date shown in the above message with the new
  41.         BIOS files TVmmdd.BIN you have. The TVmmdd.BIN should be a new one.
  42.         The new BIOS file should be
  43.         located in the same directory with this readme file and the Flash
  44.         Program AWDFLASH.EXE
  45.  
  46.      2. Turn on your computer and enter the DOS prompt. Please note that
  47.         you can not use any protect mode application or driver (such as
  48.         EMM386, QEMM386) when updating BIOS. Comment out those command in
  49.         the AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS file and reboot your system again.
  50.         If you are useing MS-DOS 6.0 or later, you can do this by press [F8]
  51.         function key while the "Staring MS-DOS..." line is on the screen.
  52.         The MS-DOS will prompt you to confirm each line of the CONFIG.SYS
  53.         and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. The AWDFLASH.EXE file can not work under
  54.         protected mode.

  56.      3. Insert TVmmdd.BIN diskette into drive A or B and type :
  57.  
  58.                 A:\AWDFLASH               or    B:\AWDFLASH
  59.  
  60.                 A:\AWDFLASH TVmmdd.bin    or    B:\AWDFLASH TVmmdd.bin
  61.  
  62.         the Falsh Memory Write Utility will ask for the filename of the
  63.         new BIOS. Enter "TVmmdd.BIN" and press [Enter] key. The utility
  64.         will ask you to save the OLD ROM BIOS code in the
  65.         diskette when the utility give a message "Do You Want To Save BIOS
  66.         (Y/N)" and press [Y]. The file is a backup of your
  67.         original BIOS from the motherboard. The next message will ask
  68.         "Are you sure to program(Y/N)". If you press the [Y] key. The utility
  69.         will load the new code into Falsh ROM.
  70.  
  71.      4. When completed loading the new BIOS, you must power off or reboot the
  72.         system, and enter the CMOS Setup Utility before going any
  73.         further by pressing [DEL] key. In the Setup Utility, choose "LOAD
  74.         SETUP DEFAULTS" option and respond "Y(es)" to load the hardware
  75.         default value for proper initialization. If you have not LOAD SETUP
  76.         DEFAULTS. The mothboard's CMOS value was still the old BIOS.

  80.          #  You must Load SETUP DEFAULTS for the updated motherbaord BIOS. #
  81.          #  Each version BIOS has its own CMOS difinition. Without doing   #
  82.          #  this, the system will be setup in Umknown Configuration.       #
