  58.  
  59.         This file explains how to install and uninstall POWERdraft
  60.         for AutoCAD R14.
  61.  
  62. 1.1     How to determine the driver's version number
  63.  
  64.         There are several ways to get the version number of this driver.
  65.  
  66. 1.1.1   Using the File Manager or Explorer
  67.  
  68.         Open the properties of the file dselsa14.dll in your driver
  69.         directory with your File Manager or Explorer to read the version
  70.         string.
  71.  
  72. 1.1.2   Using the command 'PdVer'
  73.  
  74.         While AutoCAD is running with POWERdraft configured, you may
  75.         type the command 'PdVer'.
  76.  
  77. 1.1.3   Using POWERdraft Settings
  78.  
  79.         Open the POWERdraft Settings by clicking the 'tool symbol'
  80.         within the ELSA toolbar or by setting up the command 'PdConfig'.
  81.         The index card 'General' holds the current driver version.

  87.         The driver's setup directory contains the following files:

  98. 3       Installation/Uninstallation
  99.  
  100. 3.1     Prerequisites
  101.  
  102.         Please check the following list of requirements to allow
  103.         sucessful installation and usage of this driver.
  104.  
  105.         - operating system Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 95 / Windows 98
  106.         - actual ELSA Windows graphics driver
  107.         - AutoCAD R14 already installed
  108.         - an ELSA graphics controller mentioned at the top of this
  109.           README.TXT
  110.         - write access to AutoCAD's main directory and to the Windows
  111.           system directory
  112.  
  113. 3.2     Procedure of Installation
  114.  
  115.         Please make sure AutoCAD R14 is not running.
  116.  
  117.         * Installation from CD:
  118.           Start CDSETUP.EXE in the root directory of your WINNERware CD.
  119.           You can double click CDSETUP.EXE in the File Manager or
  120.           Windows Explorer.
  121.  
  122.         * Installation from floppy disk:
  123.           POWERdraft installation set consists of two floppy disks.
  124.           Start SETUP.EXE from the first one. During installation you
  125.           will be requested to insert the second disk.
  126.  
  127.         * Installation from a separate directory:
  128.           The POWERdraft directory contains two subdirectories: DISK1
  129.           and DISK2. Start SETUP.EXE in subdirectory DISK1.
  130.  
  131. 3.3     Uninstallation
  132.  
  133.         The install program records uninstall information in the
  134.         chosen program folder.
  135.  
  136. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

  138. 4       Configuration
  139.  
  140.         Setup will add the two icons
  141.                 'Configure POWERdraft'
  142.         and
  143.                 'Configure Original Driver'
  144.         to the program folder.
  145.         Using these icons you can configure either POWERdraft or the
  146.         original driver shipped with AutoCAD (CoolWHIP) as the AutoCAD's
  147.         actual display driver. After Setup has completed successfully,
  148.         POWERdraft is already configured.
  149.  
  150.         To reconfigure the original driver, click on the 'Configure
  151.         Original Driver' icon, while AutoCAD is _not_ running. To do so
  152.         for POWERdraft, click on the 'Configure POWERdraft' icon.
  153.  
  154.         If POWERdraft is configured, the ELSA logo will be shown
  155.         at AutoCAD's startup time.

  189.         - A regen following a pan or zoom operation on raster images
  190.           left behind a kind of "ghost images" among the real images.
  191.           This problem has been fixed.
  192.         - The POWERdraft Settings have been revised.

  194.         Version 14.00.08(beta)
  195.         - Fixed a crash with Genius standard components.
  196.         - Improved the behaviour of Pan/Zoom via the Cockpit.
  197.         - The Cockpit got a new look.

  201.         - ELSA GLoria-XXL is supported.

  204.         - Fixed problems with the preview, which is saved within the
  205.           .DWG file:
  206.           * Now in the "Open" dialog the quality of the preview is much
  207.             better.
  208.           * Non-drawing elements are not part of the preview any more.
  209.           * Now the file size is much less.
  210.         To fix these problems with a drawing saved with an older version
  211.         of POWERdraft (V14.00.xx(beta)), you may save this drawing again
  212.         after calling AutoCAD's command PURGE, which will reduce the
  213.         file size to a normal level.

  216.         - The Cockpit now performs dynamic zooming and panning also
  217.           for models in paperspace.
  218.         - Fully support of subentities. As a consequence of this item,
  219.           a problem with marking sketch planes has been solved.

  234.         - Eliminated occasional regen requests after totally zooming out

  236.         - The hotkey functions "zoom in" and "zoom out" changed; now
  237.           the cursor position is used as zoom fix point, whereas
  238.           the new new hotkey functions "zoom in center" and
  239.           "zoom out center" take the viewport's center point as zoom
  240.           fix point.
  241.         - The new hotkey function "pan to center" pans the view from
  242.           the current cursor position to the viewport's center point.

  245.         - The MagniView tool has been implemented.

  248.         - A problem with damaged POWERdraft Settings under Windows
  249.           NT 3.51 has been solved.

  251.           all entities (prior versions of POWERdraft didn't include
  252.           TT fonts and raster images).

  255.         - Display errors with Genius' shaft generator have been fixed.

  269.         - A problem with ELSAview 3D's in-viewport-feature is fixed with
  270.           v1.03.08 (or higher) of ELSAview. MultiView did not restore
  271.           history views while render mode was active.

  274.         - Deadlocks on multi processor systems are fixed.
  275.         - No more flickering while resizing the MagniView window.

  277. 5.2     Known Problems and Restrictions
  278.  
  279.         - TT fonts as well as raster images will always be drawn beneath
  280.           the remaining graphics.
  281.         - TT fonts as well as raster images will not be displayed within
  282.           the Aerial View window.
  283.         - AutoCAD's Clipboard functionality is not yet supported fully.
  284.         - When POWERdraft gets started, the error message
  285.           "Unable to load menu: ... MNELS14.MNS "
  286.           "A menu with that MENUGROUP name already exists"
  287.           may occure. That message can be ignored.
  288.         - With the use of raster images and TT fonts the background
  289.           color may become slightly falsified.
  290.         - Together with OpenGL applications (e.g. Autodesk Mechanical
  291.           Desktop) display errors may occur. So far, these errors have
  292.           been observed on a GLoria-XL board only. Such kind of errors
  293.           can be suppressed by turning on the 'Force Buffer Blit' option
  294.           within the 'GLoria Settings' in 'Display Properties'. At
  295.           runtime the display can be repaired immediate by pressing the
  296.           hotkey for the redraw action, <shift><F2> for default.
  297.         - After uninstalling POWERdraft, an empty driver directory is
  298.           left.
  299.         - During some commands (PLINE, MLINE, SPLINE) MultiView views
  300.           cannot be recalled.
  301.         - With 8bpp the preview bitmap stored within the .DWG file has
  302.           wrong colors.
  303.         - The contents of viewports in paperspace will not be displayed
  304.           by MagniView.
  305.         - TT fonts and raster images will not be displayed by MagniView.
