  70. 2       Installation instructions
  71.  
  72. 2.1     Preparation
  73.  
  74.         Note: If there were already other graphics boards
  75.               installed, their referring "oemx.inf" and
  76.               "oemx.pnf" files (where "x" read as numbers) in
  77.               the INF subdirectory of your system have to be
  78.               deleted. This is to ensure that the Plug&Play
  79.               recognition of Windows 2000 is working properly.
  80.  
  81.         Copy all listed driver files to a formatted disk (or a
  82.         temporary directory). Uninstall all display adapter devices
  83.         under CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM/HARDWARE/DEVICE MANAGER/DISPLAY
  84.         ADAPTERS. Remove your floppy disk and reboot your system.

  87. 2.2     Installation
  88.  
  89.         Windows 2000 uses Plug&Play functions to recognize your
  90.         display adapter. Here is how:
  91.  
  92.         1. Device recognized. The "Found New Hardware" wizard
  93.            will guide you.
  94.            - click "Next" - choose option
  95.            "Display a list of the known drivers ..."
  96.            - click "Next"
  97.            - choose "Display Adapters"
  98.            - click "Next"
  99.            - click "Have Disk..."
  100.            - choose the directory from (2.1)
  101.            - click "Ok"
  102.            - choose entry "ELSA GLoria II
  103.            - click "Next"
  104.            - click "Next"
  105.            - click "Yes".
  106.            Now the driver will be installed.
  107.            - click "Finish.

  109.         2. The installtion of the display driver is finished now.
  110.            Remove your floppy disk and reboot your system now.

  112.         Note: Depending on your monitor at the next reboot
  113.               Plug&Play will recognize and install a monitor
  114.               device.

  116. 2.3     Verification
  117.  
  118.         Open CONTROL PANEL/DISPLAY/SETTINGS. Verify that you can
  119.         read "Plug and Play Monitor on ELSA GLoria II".
  120.         You should now be able to use a resolution higher than
  121.         800x600.
  122.  
  123. 2.4     Adjusting Refresh Frequencies
  124.  
  125.         Click "Advanced" Button on Display Properties Page. Go to
  126.         Monitor Properties Page and use the DropDown-List "Refresh
  127.         Frequency".

  130. 2.5.    Display Driver Update with w2ksetup.exe
  131.  
  132.         For easy driver update you can use w2ksetup.exe simply by
  133.         doubleclicking on it in Windows Explorer.
  134.  
  135.         After installation the driver will be started automatically.
  136.         If this is not possible you will be asked to restart your
  137.         computer.
  138.  
  139.         If the driver cannot be installed a messagebox will be
  140.         displayed.
  141.  
  142. 2.5.1.  Commandline Parameters
  143.  
  144.         You can also control w2ksetup by commandline options.
  145.         The following options are available:
  146.  
  147.         SILENT    - No dialog boxes are displayed during (un)
  148.                     installation which would require user
  149.                     interaction.
  150.  
  151.         REBOOT    - After (un)installation the system will be
  152.                     automatically rebooted if necessary.
  153.  
  154.         UNINSTALL - All ELSA graphics board drivers will be
  155.                     uninstalled. A dialog box informs at the end if
  156.                     a restart is required.
  157.  
  158.         SERVICE   - Allows the user to specify the service to
  159.                     uninstall (e.g. EGLIIM).
  160.                     Without this option all ELSA graphics drivers
  161.                     will be uninstalled.
  162.                     This parameter has no influence on installation.

  165.        Examples:
  166.  
  167.        Installation:
  168.        - W2KSetup.exe SILENT REBOOT
  169.  
  170.                         Installs the ELSA driver for Windows 2000
  171.                         without user interaction. If necessary, the
  172.                         system will be rebooted automatically.
  173.                         Otherwise the driver will be started
  174.                         directly.
  175.  
  176.        Uninstallation:
  177.        - W2KSetup.exe UNINSTALL SILENT REBOOT SERVICE EGLIIM
  178.  
  179.                         Uninstalls the ELSA display driver for a
  180.                         GLoria II.
  181.                         If necessary, the system will be rebooted.

  183.  
  184.        Note:    Be careful when using the manual uninstallation.
  185.                 Wrong usage could lead to an unstable system.

  188. 2.5.2. Exitcodes (for automated installation):
  189.  
  190.        The following exitcodes are returned by w2ksetup:
  191.  
  192.        -1 : Something went wrong without the driver being installed.
  193.             (e.g. no inf-file found)
  194.  
  195.         0 : (Un)Installation failed. Possible cause: Driver does not
  196.             match the graphics board.

  198.         1 : Driver was (un)installed successfully.

  207. 3.1.1   ELSA Application Settings
  208.  
  209.         The ELSA Application Settings allow you to configure the 3D
  210.         options of your ELSA GLoria graphics board. You will find
  211.         this tool as a tab in the display properties.
  212.         You also will find a detailed description by clicking the
  213.         Help key.
  214.  
  215. 3.1.2   ELSA Info
  216.  
  217.         ELSA Info offers a quick view of all relevant information
  218.         about your hard- and software configuration. First of all,
  219.         this is a diagnostic tool, which should help you in solving
  220.         configuration problems of your graphics system.
  221.         You can redirect all shown information to file or printer.
  222.         The generated output will be helpful in getting quick
  223.         and efficient support from ELSA.
  224.  
  225. 3.1.3   ELSA Settings
  226.  
  227.         The ELSA Settings utility is not shipped with this driver.
  228.         Read the Known Bugs section for a workaround.
  229.  
  230. 3.2     Stereo function
  231.  
  232.         This driver provides Stereo functionality in combination
  233.         with stereo shutterglasses and a stereo capable application.
  234.         To activate the stereo function select a stereo profile in
  235.         the ELSA Application settings tab. You may also mark the
  236.         stereo checkbox in ELSA Application Settings under
  237.         "Advanced".
  238.         You will find detailed help about creating new Application
  239.         Settings profiles in the Application Settings helpfile.

  243. 4       Known Bugs
  244.  
  245.         Currently the ELSA Settings utility isn't supported by the
  246.         driver. To create new monitor timings we included a command
  247.         line utility named GLIIMODE.exe to the package. It can be
  248.         found in the Windows folder in the ELSAUTIL subdirectory.
  249.         Start the program with "GLIIMODE /?" for more information.
