  1. XXIV!  DOCUMENTATION FILE

  3. XXIV! is a shareware program.  Shareware is a method of software
  4. distribution that allows the user to test the software before deciding on
  5. whether to buy it.  Please be aware that without support, we cannot
  6. continue to produce low-cost, high-quality software for the shareware 
  7. market!  If you find XXIV! useful or entertaining, please register your
  8. copy.

  10. You may distribute copies of this software so long as it is unaltered and
  11. in its original form.  If whoever you send it to finds the program useful
  12. or enjoyable, please encourage them to register.

  14. Users of XXIV! for educational purposes will be given the special
  15. school version of the program at no extra cost except for a $3.00 ($8.00 
  16. outside the U.S. and Canada) shipping charge.  Instructions in that version
  17. are designed for children.  Educational Site licences for multi-user systems
  18. are $60.00. Please specify on the registration form whether you prefer 3.5" 
  19. or 5.25" disks.

  29. REGISTERING
  30.  
  31. The file REGISTER.DOC contains a registration form.  To print the form, 
  32. boot your printer and type the following command at the DOS prompt:

  34.     COPY REGISTER.TXT PRN
  35.  
  36. This will produce a hard copy which you can then fill out and mail, along
  37. with the $10.00 registration fee, to:

  47. INSTALLATION
  48.  
  49. Copy the distribution files to a directory on your hard drive.  The files
  50. which should be present are:

  56.     DAT4.DAT
  57.     DAT5.DAT
  58.     DAT6.DAT

  64. If one or more files were missing with your distribution copy, YOU MAY NOT
  65. DISTRIBUTE THE PROGRAM.  Please check with your source to see if you can
  66. retrieve the files.  If not, you may register and request a full copy of
  67. the program.  Please send $3.00 for shipping (or $8.00 outside the U.S. and 
  68. Canada) in this case.

  70. RUNNING THE PROGRAM & HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
  71.  
  72. XXIV!  Requires a VGA monitor and display adapter.  It runs best on a 386 or
  73. higher, but has been tested to run adequately on a standard 286.

  75. To run the program, type:
  76.  
  77.     XXIV
  78.  
  79. at the DOS prompt, while you are in the directory containing the program.
  80. While you are running the program, press the ESC key at any time to exit.
  81. At the title screen, press the H key to view online help, or the arrow
  82. keys to change skill levels.
