STREET FIGHTER LEGENDS:
THE STORY OF THE WORLD WARRIORS
(by Kailu Lantis)
"For some, it's the path, not the goal"
-Akuma, Street Fighter Alpha.
Ever since 1987, players around the world have been graced with a
magnificent series of fighting videogames, which name follows that of
Street Fighter. 10 years later, and after 11 games, it still remains a
lifestyle among players worldwide. Street Fighter has surpassed the
limits of being just a videogame that appears once every year: it has
become much more. Into several merchandise and several movies and comics,
Street Fighter has won a name beyond the videogame market.
In the present days, we still expect a lot more out of Street
Fighter: Street Fighter III: Second Impact and Street Fighter Alpha 3 are
rumored to come out soon, as well as their multiple team-ups with the
Marvel comics characters. Though some people have been driven
away by the multiple abusive features in the latest games (name, features
which players can abuse constantly to win), it's really hard to reject a
Street Fighter game just for it's name. So wherever you see, in general
stores, comic stores, video stores, or even in another Capcom
games (and even non-Capcom games :), you will always see a Street Fighter
reference.
In the following FAQ are the stories of each and every character who has
ever appeared in a Street Fighter game (notice that the characters who
appear with them in the Marvel games or in Gem Fighter don't count since
they appear in a series of their own). Take notice that there
are tons and tons of characters...so you should better apreciate my
effort. :)

ADON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2
Adon is the fine student of the Thai legend of Muetai kickboxing,
Sagat. Many have trained under Sagat's guidance, but nobody as skilled or
promising as Adon. His abilities were exceptional, and his skill in
practicing the martial art was said to compete with that of Sagat's
himself. As for Adon, he always admired his master and recognized him as
the greatest Muetai fighter alive. However, to avoid further comparisons
with his master, Adon trained under a different power than Sagat used: the
jaguar. Even though Adon managed to create his own style and proper
techniques, everybody still couldn't see him farther than a
student of Sagat. Adon was enraged by this, and felt anger against his
master for first time, but remained silent, because, after all, Sagat was
the King of the Street Fighters, and it would be foolish for Adon to
challenge him, since if he should lose, much pride and honor would be lost
in the eyes of the world, picturing Adon as a son who raised his hand
against his father, a common rebel with solid dreams, but not enough power
to realize them.
When Sagat held his tournament to seek who could defeat him (and
reafirm his position as greatest fighter in the world), he put his man of
trust, Adon, as the only one before him. Adon felt that this was his
chance to prove the world how strong he was without risking his reputation
against Sagat. However, while Adon was fiddling around facing another
challengers, news broke out that shocked Adon: Sagat had been defeated,
and his rival had been no other than a simple young man who wielded an
inmense power. His name was Ryu. Adon couldn't believe it, but it
was true, and it proved to him one thing: Sagat wasn't the great warrior
he bragged himself to be. In fact, Adon considered Sagat to be a
disgrace not only for Thailand, but for the Muetai style itself. From that
day on, Adon vowed that he would defeat Sagat beacause it was time for a
new generation of fighters to claim the throne of Muetai, not old style
like Sagat applied. Adon trained harder in order to complete his task.
However, Adon seemed to have troubles finding Sagat since he was also
training hard and wandering the world in search of Ryu to demand his
revenge. Shortly, Adon was notified as disappeared when he faced a
mysterious man cloaked in black, with red, fiery hair, wielding the
same power Ryu used to beat Sagat, during a championship match back in
Thailand.
Also look for Adon in: Gem Fighter, in the restaurant background. He is at
the right, seeming to hold a pillar, and always portraying that bad ass
grin.
AKUMA (Gouki in Japan)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Akuma/Gouki could be interpretated in many different ways: "demon",
"spirit of great power", "ogre", between many other meanings. His symbol
could mean many things as well: "heavens", "gate", "overpassing limits",
between others (it could be "heavens", since that symbol also seems to
appear in very nice places in Final Fantasy VII).
Appearances: Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand Masters Challenge, Street
Fighter-The Movie, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street
Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha (also rumored to be in Street
Fighter III-Second Impact)
Akumtrained along with his big brother, Gouken, in the ways of
Shotokan Karate underneath the teaching of Goutetsu. Both trained very
hard to win the preference of their master. However, both brothers were
very different in their paths. Gouken seeked the secret of the fight, the
reason of why people fight, and what does fighting lead too. Akuma, by the
other hand, seeked only his personal ambitions, to become powerful, and to
be stronger than anyone else in the world, at any costs. Being a wise man,
Goutetsu saw the fury in Akuma's eyes, and feeling a bad omen, Goutetsu
decided to cast Akuma away from his dojo. Akuma was blind with anger, and
vowed that one day, he would come back and teach his brother and master a
lesson for daring to try to challenge him.
From that day on, Akuma roamed the earth like an errand vagabound.
However, he never renounced to the ways of Shotokan Karate. However, after
training so many years, and mastering each and every technique of his art,
Akuma couldn't believe that his training would reach an end so suddenly.
He felt that there was lot more to Shotokan Karate that met the eye.
He felt that Goutetsu had not teached him and Gouken the principle things
of the art, since he felt empty and desiring for more. Thus, Akuma saught
more information about Shotokan Karate. Upon further investigation, Akuma
found a curious fact indeed: the "forbidden part", "the killing power of
Shotokan Karate", and the "sealed evil". Everything merged in one main
reference: the Dark Shotokan Karate. So, it was certainly true that
Goutetsu had hidden this secret to them, and mostly, it was to make sure
that they wouldn't be tempted by the dark side, and use the evil
power to unleash something which could be fatal. However, Akuma thought of
Goutetsu to be a fool to hide such important facts to him, and Gouken as
well, for being an ignorant to this matter. However, it was warned tha
anyone who dared tried to practice the Dark Shotokan would certainly meet
a cruel death, Akuma felt he had no other choice: he had to push himself
to the limits if he had to face the forces of his brother and master.
Thus, Akuma began to train on the foridden ways. It caused him
much pain, and was about to die in several occasions. However, for a
mysterious reason, he didn't die, as if somebody wanted him to keep
himself alive to unleash the power of the Dark Shotokan. Finally,
Akuma learned the ultimate move of the Dark Shotokan: the Shun Goku Shatsu
(Instant Hell Murder). However, in unleashing this power, Akuma sealed his
own doomed fate: the dark spirits which had been sealed along with the
Shun Goku Shatsu were freed as well, and all merged directly into Akuma's
body. Racked with enormous pain, Akuma gained much more power, but in
doing so, his body no longer was that of a human: it was now that of a
demon.
Little after Akuma completed this feat, he went to fulfill his
promise. He arrived at Goutetsu's dojo one night. His master seemed to be
expecting him, but not with so much power. Akuma laughed and said that
Goutetsu was a fool in not testing the power of Dark Shotokan. Goutetsu
replied that the power would only bring despair to it's user. Deaf at
Goutetsu's words, Akuma went and applied the Shun Goku Shatsu anyway. A
big flash of light, then nothing. Akuma saw the dead body of his master
twisted and in pretty much bad shape lying on the floor. However, he knew
that he wouldn't stop at that. There was still one person who
had to pay: his brother, Gouken.
It took Akuma a while to find Gouken. He wasn't back there in
Gouetsu's dojo. He seemed to have left. Regardless, Akuma would turn the
world upside down if he had too. It took him some years to find Gouken,
and when he finally did, it seemed that he had lifted his own dojo and
even trained several students. However, Akuma wouldn't feel pity, not even
for his brother. Thus, Gouken followed the same fate as his master: die at
Akuma's hands with the Shun Goku Shatsu. However, after eliminating his
brother, Akuma realized something: there were no other challenges for him
in this world. He had already surpassed the power of mere mortals, and
he had eliminated both his most dangerous opponents. However, in order to
become the true master of Shotokan Karate, and impose his new style, Akuma
had one other thing to do: kill the rest of the Shotokan disciples, in
other words, Gouken's disciples. Having a new task, Akuma parted. Anyone
who stood in his way would surely meet an untimely death.
SHIN AKUMA (Shin Gouki, Super Turbo Akuma): This is Akuma's most
powerful self, the true embodiment of everything that is evil. Basically,
it's sort of "super saiya-jin" Akuma, with more speed and with far more
power.
Also look for Akuma in: X-Men-Children of the Atom, X-Men vs.
Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Gem Fighter,
Cyberbots. Also look for him in Vampire Savior's intro (even a flat head
Akuma with the words "Dirty Beret" on his back), as a item that Hsien-Ko
might launch, and in the Street Fighter anime and Street Fighter II V
anime series (but in cameos, you have to put attention). Also, look for
his symbol in Final Fantasy VII ;)
ALEX
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter II-New Generation (soon to be in Street
Fighter III-Second Impact)
Alex became an orphan at an early age, after his parents died in a
accident. To take care of the little Alex, and to avoid having him living
in a orphanage, the best friend of Alex's father, a man named Tom, took
him to his house. Tom was in debt to Alex's father and decided to repay
him many favors, such as saving his life many times in war. Since Tom was
a military man, and soldiers always take practice in wrestling, Tom
decided to train Alex in that art. Soon enough, the litte Alex's fragile
body became a walking heap of muscles, and he became a hardcore grappler.
Alex grew to respect Tom a lot, like the father he never had.
One day, Tom parted, without leaving notice. Alex was very
confused, since Tom wasn't one of those persons that actually left without
a trail. However, he would soon know where Tom was: in a hospital, badly
wounded. Alex inmediately went to assist his foster father. When he
arrived, he saw that Tom's wounds weren't produced by any type of
accident: they were actual hit marks, but they didn't seem made by a
normal human being. Not understanding all, Alex only thought about one
thing: to fight and become strog enough to grab the man's attention, and
then, he would crush him in Tom's honor.
ALLEN SNIDER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Allen was aimed nationwide throughout the U.S. as the undisputed
karate champion. Nobody could ever beat him in a tournament. In every
tournament he participated in, he would win. He practiced several forms of
karate and managed to accomplish a great blend. Feared throughout the
country, Allen soon became a household name. He became tremendously
popular, and would become the next Chuck Norris if it weren't for that
little event...
In one karate tournament, Allen entered. Obviously, he became the
preclaimed champion. Nobody would seem to lay a finger on him, and his
first opponent would be no other than a practically unknown man: his name
was Ken Masters. Allen laughed and promised he would finish the scrub in a
few seconds flat. However, by his surprise, not only he didn't finish
him in a few seconds, he was surprised by the superior technique of Ken,
and winded up losing the match. The crowd was silent. The eternal champion
had lost to a no-name. Ken declared to the fallen Allen that he was still
a little fish in a big pond, and that there was still many fighters to
which Allen couldn't lift a candle too. Allen was suprised. Obviously,
this Ken fellow has already faced these fighters he just mentioned,
judging by his supreme powers. Since Allen wasn't mad at all (he was
pretty curious, to be honest) and was interested in Ken's abilities, he
decided to follow Ken like a shadow. Maybe only then can he become truly
strong, and regain his position as the greatest fighter in the U.S..
ARKANE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter-The Movie
In the inner portions of Shadoloo, M.Bison and his scientist crew
have plotted on creating a series of cyborgs, composed of multiple genetic
mixes, with overwhelming power and unequaled abilities. The first
prototype of these cyborgs was named Blade, but secretly, more copies were
devised. Arkane was one of them. Just a mindless cyborg at the orders of
M.Bison, Arkane walks errantly behind the Shadoloo operations as a shadow
just waiting to appear.
BALROG (Mike Bison in Japan)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Balrog was named Mike Bison in Japan as a parody to the
ex-heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, but fearing lawsuits by the boxer,
Capcom had to change his name in the U.S.. Of course, ear-biting is not
included. ;)
Appearances: Street Fighter II-Th World Warrior, Street Fighter
II-Champion Edition, Street Fighter II-Turbo Hyper Fighting, Super Street
Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand Masters
Challenge
Sometimes all-American idols fall in disgrace. Such is an exale
for a man named Balrog, who had everything to triumph, but unfortunately,
threw it away for unexplainable reasons.
Balrog was a poor boy who grew in the typical ghettos of the U.S..
With a very hefty family, a deteriorated house, part-time jobs, and crimes
everywhere, Balorg could only find one little hobby to survive in that
world of misery and despair: boxing. Like many boxing legends, Balrog
began at an early age training in a nearby gym, with a lot more kids, and
some wise boxing coaches. Balrog always used to pick fights, but it
shouldn't be considered Balrog's fault because after all, he grew in a
place where violence prevails. However, soon, people noticed that Balrog
had something that other kids didn't: dedication and skill in his fists.
His punches could tremble even the hardest rock. He looked promising, and
in fact, he was.
Soon, Balrog became more and more invlved with official boxing
matches, and he climbed up the long ladder of success throughout the
boxing circuit. He began to win money, get a lot of girls, and possess
everything his heart desired. It was just like a dream come true: the
American dream. It wasn't suprising at all that with the force of Balrog's
jabs, uppercuts, and hooks could he accomplish the heavyweight
championship. A golden crown for a king dressed in rags. Balrog had
reached the peak, and there was almost no way that he could fall...almost,
that is.
Because there is no way that somebody can forget his origins.
Balrog had seemingly not disposed of his violent character, and constantly
sprouted into violent rages against his opponents. He never got over that
child trauma. After so many violations to the boxing rules (headbutts, low
blows, excessive violence, etc.), the boxing association considered Balrog
to be a menace for the boxing sport itself, and thus, banning him from any
official boxing competition permanently.
As fast as Barog had reached the top he reached rock bottom. His
money flew away, spent in drinks, bets, girls, cars...thrown to the
garbage. Soon, he noticed that he was out of money and with debts on his
back. Balrog desperately tried to get a work, but people had already
lost hope in him. Nobody would ever give such a violent man a work.
However, a violent organization named as Shadoloo ound in Balrog a
man who could be one of their main members, since being a heavyweight
champion is always a guarantee of strength. Balrog took it without doubts.
He needed the job, and needed the money, regardless of how. However, due
to his dull mind and zero ambition, Balrog has been submitted to the
cannon fodder of the Grand Masters. A fallen American dream.
Also look for Balrog in: Sagats ending in Street Fighter Alpha 2,
Magnetos ending in X-Men vs. Street Fighter. In Gem Fighter, he appears in
two backgrounds: that of the window of the mall (contemplating the big
Chun Li doll), and that of the ski mountain (holding himself on one of the
trolleys). Also look for him in the Street Fighter anime and the Street
Fighter II V anime series.
BIRDIE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2
Not all Europeans live a fancy and luxious life. All good things
always a bad side to them, and so does the European society. England is
one of those places. Behind the glamorous streets and fancy shops, lies
the lifes of lowlife bandits and dangerous criminals. Such is life in
the backalleys of England, where Birdie grew up in.
Birdie became involved with this life of crime ever since he was a
kid. Learning the ways of the street (such as mugging and grappling),
Birdie became a member of many gangs that went and come. Birdie always
seeked the biggest loot out of any operation. If the work wasn't
productive enough, Biride would easily find a job in one of the many
English pubs as a bouncer, as his impressive built made him quite adequate
for the job. However, during his many criminal deeds, Birdie had heard
from his partners that there was a big crime organization that already
had many contacts throughout the world. The operations they commanded were
big, and the winnings were everything far from anybody's imagination. It
was said that only the strongest could enter as a member of the group.
It's name was Shadoloo, and it's leader was a mysteriousman by the name of
M.Bison. Birdie instantly became interested, and left the pubs and the
alleysof England to look for a way in Shadoloo, just to get the big bucks, by
any means necessary.
After tracing the steps of Shadoloo, Birdie finally got a way in,
since Shadoloo was a bit short of members by that time. Birdie was pleased
with his new work, but ever since he discovered that Shadoloo was
brainwashing other street fighters to serve them as soldiers, Birdie
refused to be one of Bison's mindless zombies, and escaped from the
Shadoloo headquarters. He has been hiding in seclusion ever since, fearing
a terrible reprisal from Shadoloo's forces.
Also look for Birdie in: Two backgrounds of Gem Fighter: one in
the Chinese restaurant, eating a bowl of "ramen" (noodle soup) at Bison's
side, and in Dee Jay's bar, at the entrance, combing his hair.
BLADE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter-The Movie
As a mode of expansion and strenghtening of Shadoloo, M.Bison and
his lackeys planned a operation of creating genetically enhanced cyborgs,
which could possess extreme power with no need of pursuing street fighters
for such cause. As a result, the first and original model was named Blade.
This cyborg would follow and obey M.Bison's orders in every way, and
accomplish any feat that he would plan, such a killing any resistance,
realizing certain operations, and making sure that nobody would stand in
the way of Shadoloo.
BLAIR DAME
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Daughter of a sheltered Eupean family, Blair always seemed to live
a pacific life. Everything was given to her by her wealthy parents, and
always enjoyed of everything her heart desired. But not everything was
complete for Blair. She felt that something was missing in her life, and
that her family wasn't secured enough, despite the tight security around
it. Thus, Blair asked her parents to contract some karate masters for her.
Ignoring the complaints of her parents, Blair got what she got anyway.
Thus, Blair became strong woman ready for anything. But still Blair wasn't
satisfied, but his petition wasn't in need to be asked. Her chance came
soon enough.
Due to the good relations between the Dame and the Purna family
(two of the most wealthy families in the world), the daughters of both
families became the best of friends, two girls that were trapped in a
world of gold. The other girl's name was Pullum. Both women always had
good relations and each one covered each other's back, even during the
course of the years. Now, Pullum had a personal offer for Blair: to go and
hunt down a criminal organization known as Shadoloo. Blair was concerned
about what happened to Pullum's grandfather, but she was also burning in
anticipation to go out and face the best fighters in the world to match
her skill with. Although Blair was pretty sure about her abilities, she
felt reliefed when she knew about the bodyguard in charge of protecting
her and Pullum: a profesional wrestler named as Darun. With a mission in
her mind, Blair parts with Pullum and Darun in search of revenge and good
fights.
BLANKA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter II-The World Warrior, Street Fighter
II-Champion Edition, Street Fighter II-Turbo Hyper Fighting, Super Street
Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand Masters
Challenge.
In a stormy night over Brazil, an airplane had serious
difficulties in passing through the harsh weather. It was really bumpy and
lightning stroke everywhere. Both the pilots and passengers were terrozied
by such magnitude of the storm. A little boy named Jimmy was in that
plane. He was on his way to visit her mother, when all of a sudden, a
powerful lightning bolt stroke the plane with all its might. The lightning
seemed to carry some strange properties with it, and began to create a
inner mutation in Jimmy's little body. The airplane plumetted into the
inner quarters of the Amazon jungle. No one survived the crash except one:
a barely surviving Jimmy in bad shape. Passing through there was a pack of
wolves, which seeing the unprotection and weird properties of the child,
decided to take him along with them, as if it were a puppy of there
own.
Ever snce, Jimmy suffered amnesia of his past ever since. Little
or nothing did he remember of his mother or the crash. And that could
explain why Jimmy was so passive to his new body, which due to the
mutation and jungle life, leaded Jimmy to not be no longer a human
anymore: more like a beast. Raised up by wolves, learning and taking notes
of the animals of the jungle he lived with (monkeys to swing around, eels
to transmit electricity from his skin, etc.), and becoming stronger by
lifting logs and rocks, Jimmy no longer exsisted, but rather named
himself "Blanka".
Meanwhile, the natives of the villages inside the Amazons feared
tht the newfound beast would try to come and kill them sooner or later.
Many villagers decided that eliminating the monster would be their best
bet, but when they hunted, Blanka was nowhere to be found. He had
left the jungle indeed, sort of guided by a strange force, and now in
themain cities of Brazil, Blanka comes up and challenges any other man to
step up and face him. He has now became a machine to hunt down people that
was once like him. But despite the fact that Blanka has lost all
human proportions, a human proof is still attached to his body: a certain
anklet lying on his foot.
Also look for Blanka in: The Death Vall background in both X-Men
vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, where he
heats himself at the side of a bonfire. He alternates his position with
Beast (from the X-Men) in the first game, but both appear at the same time
in the second. Blanka also seemed to be captured by Apocalypse in the
second game, since he is held in one of the capsules in the final stage.
He is also in one of Gem Fighter's backgrounds: in the beach, atop a hut,
releasing electricity charges once in a while. You can also see him in the
Street Fighter anime for more reference.
CAMMY WHITE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Super Street Fighter II-NewChallengers, Super Street Fighter
II Turbo-Grand Masters Challenge, Street Fighter-The Movie (also as a
bonus in the Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold disc of the Street Fighter
Collections, avaiable for the Playstation and Saturn)
Little or nothing is kwn about Cammy's past. In fact, not even
Cammy herself remembers much of her blurry past. The only thing that
remains of it are the scar on her cheek and a burning desire to destroy
the crime organization, Shadoloo, ignorant of the fact that her
past is linked with the group. It happens to be that a while back, Cammy
was a honorable member of Shadoloo, one of their top soldiers. She was a
ruthless assasin that stopped at nothing to obey the orders of her master,
M.Bison. She was almost like a symbol of the crime organization, and she
never seemed to be bothered by this fact. A big thing that made her keep
on going, was the love she felt for the master of Shadoloo, Bison himself.
But Bison, an evil entity unable to express feelings, abused the trust
Cammy gave in him, and used it to manipulate her to his will. That was a
very good reason why Cammy remained in Shadoloo.
A moment came when a delicate operation came for Shadoloo, where
the own organization was in jeopardy. Little is known about this mission,
but one thing was for sure: Bison had Cammy to carry out his orders.
Moving out in a instant, Cammy was dedicated to accomplish the mission for
her master more than anything. However, as it was expected, the operation
was very difficult in the procedure, losing some members in the process.
Cammy resulted wounded in the mission, and that where her memory was lost.
Fortunately fr Cammy, there was still hope for her to lead a new life
without the evil influence of Bison. Wounded, she was encountered by
members of the MI-6 British Intelligence forces, who took her in, just for
the intention of healing her. However, Cammy proved otherwise, and she
demostrated extremely skillful abilites which lead the Special Force team
to take her in to help them in their operations. Cammy seemed a different
person than in her days with Shadoloo: a good person who was willing to
aid her partners. Now, she has been ordered to investigate and detain
Shadoloo, which will reveal once and for all her revolting past.
Also look for Cammy in: X-Men vs. Street Fighter, and in two
backgrounds of Gem Fighter: in the window of the mall, as a little kid who
is anxious for toys (Bison is her "father" in turn :), and in Dee Jay's
bar, jumping on a stool. Also watch her in the Street Fighter anime and
the Street Fighter II V anime series.
CHARLIE (Nash in Japan)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter Alpha, Stree Fighter Alpha 2
A patriot and dedicated soldier at heart, Charlie's dedication to
his country is unsurpassed by many soldiers in the U.S. army. Always
willing to get the job done, and a easy-going man, Charlie is a veteran
of the Special Forces unit, and is well known for teaching a lot of
rookies many techniques, since Charlie was also a master in several
martial arts. Always portraying his glasses and smokih a cigarrette once
in a while, Charlie was an example to follow in the army, and a smart man
at that, as well.
One day, Charlie's superiors sent him on a pretty difficult task:
to filtrate in a jungle-based headquarters and ruin a certain operation
being taken by some crime organization named Shadoloo. Charlie really
didn't mind, since he was ready to die in the battlefield. He took along
with no big army, but with only one soldier, his best friend, Guile. They
took off to Thailand (place of the operation), and began their quest.
Everything seemed to be going just fine until all of a sudden, Charlie and
Guile got captured in the middle of a task. They didn't know what was
going on, since they were undercover. However, this was futile and were
banned to the underground dungeons, expecting a punishment any minute.
However, Charlie wasn't the man who would sit down and cry. He
saught solutions. He and Guile managed to break free from their prison,
due to their expert training. After escaping, Charlie decided to take the
leader of the organization head on, since he wouldn't expect it. Guile
wanted to come too, but fearing for the life of his friend, Charlie sent
him back to headquarters and report. After doing so, Charlie secretly
traced Shadoloo's steps, cloaked in the shadows, avoiding to be caught
this time. Finally, Charlie found out that the leader of the crime
organization, a man named M.Bison, was transporting some drugs in South
America. Charlie decided to travel over there and stop him. However, once
again, Bison predicted Charlie's coming, and gave him a surprise. Charlie
didn't knew that Bison had been sending spies into the U.S. Army, and
thus, getting information about all their operations, and of Charlie as
well. Understanding this too late, Charlie couldn't avoid his untimely
death at hands of a helicopter that was supposedly sent to aid him in
Bison's capture.
SHADOW CHARLIE: In the alternate world of the Marvel Super Heroes
vs. Street Fighter, Bison revives Charlie's corpse and turns him in dead
walking zombie working for Shadoloo. Still conserving the essence of his
moves, but knowing nothing more than serving Bison, Charlie now serves a
new purpose: the purpose of evil.
Also look for Charlie in: Xen vs. Street Fighter, and in one
background of Gem Fighter: in Dee Jay's bar, playing cards with Guile. He
is also writing in his eternal notebook in the park stage of Marvel Super
Heroes vs. Street Fighter. To prove that he is really dead (and
not turned into Blanka, like the live-action movie tried to make us
believe), you can see his tomb in Guile's ending in Super Street Fighter
II Turbo. Also appears in the Street Fighter II V anime series but with a
different look (short black hair and beard! o_O)
CHUN LI
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: "Chun" is a very pretty flower from China.
Appearances: Street Fighter II-The World Warrior, Street Fighter
II-Champion Edition, Street Fighter II-Turbo Hyper Fighting, Super Street
Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand Masters
Challenge, Street Fighter-The Movie, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter

Chun Li was born and raised in a humble Chinese neighborhood.
Daughter of a Chinese Interpol agent, Chun Li grew up surrounded of
several karate masters, thus, making her a master in several martial arts.
Chun Li loved her father a lot, but decided to study more than fighting.
She admired her father, and thus, relied all her trust on him, despite the
many dangers which represented being an Interpol agent. Beautiful and
sweet, Chun Li lived a normal girl's life, until one crucial moment.
Chun Li's father was assigned to a mission where he should follow
the steps of a crime organization named as Shadoloo, it's headquarters
relying somewhere in Asia. That was the last time Chun Li ever saw her
father. After some time, Chun Li's father was notified as missing
during an operation. It seemed that he was captured by Shadoloo itself.
Chun Li, caring for her father a lot, couldn't stand just sitting there
while other people did nothing to go look for him. Without thinking about
it twice, Chun Li went out in search of her father. Tracing the steps of
Shadoloo, Chun Li discovered many dirty operations of Shadoloo. She even
managed to stumble across it's leader, an evil man named M.Bison. Chun Li
demanded Bison to tell her what he had did with his father. Bison just
laughed and gave Chun Li the terrible news: he had died while facing Bison
himself. Chun Li was enraged, but there was nothing she could do against
the overpowered Bison, as she was too young and unexperienced in battle.
Leaving Bison for now, Chun Li instantly signed herself up as an Interpol
agent, and was comissioned to pursue Shadoloo: the same last task her
father carried out with no success. Though still desiring a life of
a normal girl, Chun Li still isn't sorry of taking her decision: she
knows, deep in her heart, that she and Bison will meet once again, and
this time, she will surely exact revenge from what he did to her father.
Also look for Chun Li in: Gem Fighter, X-Men vs. Street Fighter,
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter. She also appears in a RPG game
named Breath of Fire, where she appeared in the thief village of Bleak.
Also appears in the background of the Hong Kong stage in Final
Fight 2 eating a bowl of rice. Also look for her in the Street Fighter
anime (especially for the shower scene...hint hint, perverts ;) and the
Street Fighter II V anime series.
CRACKER JACK
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
In the first days of it's appearance, the crime organation
Shadoloo took in any member they could get their hands on. Cracker Jack
was one of them, and although many of the first members couldn't stand the
heat, Cracker Jack was one of the few that remained. He was tough,
brutal, and ruthless. Always seeking to have a good brawl, Cracker Jack
quickly gained positions in the Shadoloo ladder, but refused to occupy a
higher post. His thing was to fight, not sitting all day. This created a
lot of hardships with the high commands of Shadoloo, but still Cracker
Jack remained with Shadoloo, but this time, he would work alone, and
without taking orders from anybody. He would things his way, not as others
would. Still, Shadoloo never lost trust in Cracker Jack, and still
comissioned him certain tasks, which Cracker Jack passively
accomplished. After all, that was his life, hand to hand with his walks
through the bars. One day, Shadoloo comissioned several soldiers to
Cracker Jack's orders so he could buff them up and make them adequate
fighters to carry orders efficently. Cracker Jack saw this almost like an
insult, and tired of everything that had to do with Shadoloo, he sure did
buff up the soldiers...the hard way. In fact, so hard, he beated them up
so badly that they couldn't barely lift a finger. That was always Cracker
Jack's thoughts: his way, or no way.

DAN HIBIKI
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: If you didn't know by now, Dan was created as a bluff of a pair of
fighters from one of the series of their direct competitor, SNK, called
Art of Fighting. The characters in turn are called Ryo Sakazaki and Robert
Garcia. Obviously, Capcom made Dan so weak intentionally to show
how incompetent SNK can be in creating characters (but that's another
story :).
Appearances: Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2
Dan wasn't quite interested in martial ts when he was a kid,
despite the desperate attempts of his father, the great Oh Hibiki, to
teach him. Dan took the lessons only mildy, since he lived in his own
world, dreaming and chanting. All he wanted was to have fun, and live his
life at the fullest, looking at the bright side of it. But Oh Hibiki
really wanted a disciple for his skills, but when he did not find the
descendant he looked for in his son, he just kept on fighting like in
his good old days.
A moment came when Oh Hibiki learned about new fighter who had
rised to the upper elite of the Street Fighter circuit, and that he was
proclaimed "King of Street Fighters". Oh Hibiki was rather interested when
he knew that it was no other than Thai Muetai legend, Sagat. Impressed by
his doings, Oh Hibiki went to challenge Sagat head on. Dan wasn't
concerned at all for his father's departure. In his mind, he knew his
father would come back. But fate can sometimes be cruel.
In Thailand, Sagat and Oh Hibiki squared face on. Oh Hibiki was
getting te hang of the fight, surprising Sagat with his techniques, and
taking random pokes at Sagat, which made him mad. Suddenly, in one attack,
Oh Hibiki managed to remove one of Sagat's eyes. Enfuriated and blinded
with rage, Sagat forgot all the honor he learned before and proceeded to
battle Oh Hibiki ruthlessly. He didn't rest until Oh Hibiki's last breath.
Sagat, for once, had taken the life of a man by his own hands.
When the news reached Dan, for the first time ever, felt fear
strike in his heart. Was there somebody strong enough in the world to beat
and even kill his father? It seemed so. Sleepless nights and countless
nightmares followed Dan after that day, nightmares where Sagat would come
and kill a defenseless Dan. Dan was stroke in fear like no before. But,
deep in his heart, he felt the memory of his father burning, and getting
guts out of nowhere, went out to seek the greatest martial arts legend
alive: the great Gouken.
Dan reached Gouken, and began training with him. But it only took
a few time before news came to Dan: Sagat was defeated. Suddenly, Dan felt
a light of hope in his heart. Sagat could be defeated, and thus, his
nightmares disappeared, and continued his training ever harder to beat
Sagat and exact revenge. But Gouken, reproaching the use of martial arts
for personal intentions, kicked Dan out of his dojo in sprite of his
desire of revenge. Thus, Dan trained alone, mixing the little Gouken
taught to him with his own style. Dan could never catch up to Sagat...and
perhaps he wasn't trained enough for that. Tired of searching, Dan opened
his own dojo where he would teach the people of the world his newly
created style: the powerful Saikyo style!
Also look for Dan in: Gem Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street
Fighter, and in Apocalypse's stage in X-Men vs. Street Fighter, captured
in one of the capsules at the right (perhaps he was considered too
powerful for Apocalypse ;), and also in Storm's ending in the
same game, where he is attacked by Shuma-Gorath! Also look for Dan's
"bluffers" in SNK's Art of Fighting or The King of Fighters series...see
if you can find the similiarities! :)
DARUN MISTER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearnces: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Darun was a man who enjoyed about everything in the world money
can buy: a nice house, well payed, and a lucrative lifestyle. As the
champion of a private wrestling organization, Darun fought constantly and
was undefeated in many matches. However, Darun didn't felt pleased by
winning all those macthes, and winning all that money. He felt that he
didn't have enough competition, and he even felt that even some of his
opponents threw the towel before time, since the organization was
sponsored by many wealthy men of around the world, and a lot of bets went
on Darun. He felt he needed more than that to prove his true abilities.
The life of Darun changed when one day, one of the sponsors, the
Purna faily (a wealthy Arabian family), contracted Darun's services for
one important task that didn't have anything to do with just wrestling in
the ring. His ring would be the world now, since he was signed up as a
bodyguard for the daughter of the family, Pullum, on her travel to seek
out the crime organization known as Shadoloo, for a sorry thing that
happened to her grandfather. The Purna family knew Pullum would be in
inminent danger facing a huge crime organization by her own, even with her
friend. So, Darun accepted the challenge, but it was not exactly for the
money, or for the girls themselves, but for testing his wrestling
abilities against the best fighters in the world.
DOCTRINE DARK
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
The war doesn't bring no good, just disasters.
Such was the fate of a man who now portrays the name of Doctrine
Dark. As the commander of a batallion in the U.S. army, Doctrine Dark was
considered a top role soldier, perhaps not as distinguished as Charlie and
Guile where, but a very talented soldier nonetheless. He had extreme
ability, speed, and a excellent use of blades, wires, and explosives. He
was a model to look up for his troops, and they trusted him in heart and
mind as he trusted them.
Suddenly, Doctrine Dark and his batallion were assigned to Guile's
command, and both where sent on a dangerous jungle mission to infiltrate
some secret headquarters of the enemy. The jungle was treacherous indeed,
but nothing Doctrine Dark and his men couldn't resolve. However, from the
moment Guile and Doctrine Dark went separate ways where when the things
grew ugly.
Doctrine Dark ittle knew that he was about to face a military
madman, but brilliant in his strategy and tactics, as Rolento was, and his
well trained army, while Doctrine Dark's men where very joyful and merry,
but lacking in skills. Things didn't get any better for Doctrine Dark and
his men as they were ambushed by Rolento's army. The battle was unequal.
Doctrine Dark's troop was wiped away, almost turning into a butchery.
Doctrine Dark himself resulted severally wounded, and was about to die for
sure if Guile wouldn't go in his aid. Doctrine Dark remained in the
hospital for many days, and there was no sign of a little hope. Almost
every doctor called him for dead, but suddenly, one morning, he was gone.
He had escaped from the hospital and there was almost no other place he
could be found out. Guile was worried about his soldier, and blamed
himself a bit for letting Doctrine Dark and his batallion go out
alone. Many days passed after that, and one day, the man that was terribly
scared and in severe trauma from his incident, arised as a man who could
only live through his life-saving device, and wanting all the world to
suffer the things he suffered, including the man who abandoned him to his
fate: Guile.

Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand Masters
Challenge, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Dhalsim is only one of the few who can presume himself to be a
Yoga master. He has dedicated his entire life, in mind, body, and soul, to
the perfection of his skills and to seek the perfect union between his
powers. Having to live in solitude for many years, and meditating for
long periods of time, restricting himself to a strict diet, Dhalsim has
managed to go far beyond his own limits and become a sort of entity.
Dhalsim has seen and lived the poor life of his fellow Indian
people. Everybody is hungry, everybody seeks a way to get out of the
misery in which they live, either following the ways of good or the ways
of evil. Dhalsim knows his meditation and prayers alone won't take his
people anywhere, and also living with his wife Sally and his son, Dhalsim
hates to admit that fighting is the only way to get enough economic
support for his people, and bring peace andtranquility to his people.
Dhalsim's meditation and union between his mind, body, and soul,
have allowed him to carry abilities which many can't explain, such as
spewing fires from his mouth, stretching his limbs to unimaginable
proportions, and sending his body through a vortex of space and time, and
instantly reappearing in another place. Dhalsim, however, feels that he
still hasn't achieved the status of a Yoga master, as he still senses evil
both on the outside as in the inside. As he tries to seek the exclusion of
his evil, Dhalsim seeks his purification by cleansing the world of it's
evil, and by helping his people, his consciesness will become clean of all
impurifications.
Also look for Dhalsim in: X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super
Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and in two backgrounds of Gem Fighter: one in

being a boxer. However, Dudley didn't mind, and his skills soon reached
unpredicted heights, almost comparing him to his father.
Dudley's fame crossed all England, and he was getting as wealthy
and famous as his father, not to mention more skillful. However, Dudley
never forgot his family, and one day, Dudley was informed that his father
had lost a family treasure to a strange man. Dudley knew that it was
incorrect for his father to give something so valuable to a stranger, but
always ready to leap into action, Dudley promised he would find this man,

Edmond Honda grew up being out of shape, as a fat kid who was
always pestered by his school partners, and had some difficulties
otherwise with it as well. However, as a Japanese, being fat didn't
necesarily represent a problem. In fact there were some advantages to it,
and Honda knew just what to do: begin to practice the legendary art of
Sumo from a young age.
Very young Honda began to stand out in the Sumo circuit, having a
tremendous facility to practice the Sumo arts, using his weight almost
like if it was never there, moving like a lightweight and hitting like a
runaway train, Honda had been a traditional student ever since he began
his training, always following the rules of a perfect Sumo wrestler. He had
the special ability to flatten his enemy with his tremendous
weight, and aplicate the techniques of the Sumo at perfection at the same
time.
Soon enough, Honda got a shot at the top honors of the Sumo
world, and one of them was to obtain the "Yokozuna" title or grand
champion. After many years of training, he finally obtained the title, and
there seemingly was no other man in all Japan (or all the world for that
matter) who could equal his Sumo skills. Overwhelmed by this, Honda now
saught a new arena: now he would show the world the true power of Sumo.
Even though most of the world thought that Sumo wasn't truly a real sport,
Honda didn't mind: he would prove otherwise after crushing the skulls of
his other opponents.

FEI LONG
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

legend Bruce Lee, well then, good for you. :)
Appearances: Super Street Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter
II Turbo-Grand Masters Challenge
Fei Long has been more than just a kung fu movie star: he has
became a legend both in and outside the movie set. He has been
distinguished for his absolutely amazing skills, and his dextertity with
several weapons. He has became an idol due to the real showing of his
skills in the silver screen. He has trained in the most purest art of
kung-fu, and has learned from the greatest masters the true meaning of
kung-fu, and has brought that knowledge to the movies, making him a
national hero in his home country, Hong Kong, due to his honorable
emabassador which proudly represents their country to the world.
However, Fei Long knows that he did wanted to train in kung-fu to
be just like his hero Bruce Lee, since he was a loyal fan to the Legend
and his movies. His skills amazed Fei Long, and just the idea of
practicing the same style as he did made him tremble of emotion. Being a
national hero to Hong Kong as well, it was almost logical for Fei Long to
follow his steps. However, when he began his training, he began to ask
himself if training just to act on a movie set was really worth all the
trouble and all the effort of all his years of training. Fei Long now
knew that kung-fu's real meaning was to perfect it at any turn, create his
own style, and passing it over to his disciples. After all, that was Bruce
Lee did in the first place: he knew this meaning, and followed it
strictly. Fei Long that this was his same destiny as well, and thus, now
alternating between his movie filmations, he decides to fight the best
fighters in the world to show if he is still worthy of wielding kung-fu
with the honor it deserves to.

GARUDA
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
The dark side holds a lotf unholy secrets. Garuda is one of the
warriors who are not nearly alive, but not also nearly as dead. He is sort

shadows, and when he fights, he doesn't fight to win, he fights to kill.
Nobody knows where he comes from, or where is his origin, neither whether
he is human or demon. He is just a dangerous warrior, who is pure evil,
wishing no good, just having evil intentions for all his opponents.
As a source of evil, Garuda always has contacts to all the evil
auras in the world, like a warrior preying on the brain waves of every
warrior on the earth, and seeking the evil warriors who shall power him
and make him the greatest fighter in the world. Thus, Garuda senses the
two most powerful evil auras: both coming from the dark side of
Shotokan Karate. Garuda gleems in anticipation of facing the two most
powerful auras besides his. Garuda's powers are eerie by himself, since he

tasks with his mortal claw, and uses special ninja skills such as his
great speed and his ability to teleport. Being one of the few Ninjitsu
masters, Geki is mortal despite his advanced age. He particpated as a
participant for a secret organization in the first "King of Street
Fighters" held by Sagat, some said that some enemies of Sagat contracted

GEN
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter, Street Fighter Alpha 2

masters of Chinese kung fu, and which dominates several styles of it. Gen
has faced dozens of opponets during his lifetime, and perhaps one of the
few fighters who still take their roots at heart. He is a purist at heart,
and lives for the life of battle. However, that was a long time ago, where
he enjoyed his fights.
Now, Gen has to shrug off young men who try to gain a name for
themselves by defeating him. Gen not only could defeat them with the
greatest of ease, but he could also apply his secret technique, which is
the fatal death point attack, where he would tocuh several vital points in
the human's body to make the pulse stop in those points, and thus, cutting
the blood flow through the heart, killing the fighter instantly. However,
Gen thinks that young men's life shouldn't be thrown that easily. He has
killed several men in the most desperate attempts, but always in self
defense. Able to change from many different styles in a wink of an eye,
Gen doesn't want to be too predictable to avoid defeat.
However, now that Gen feels he has reached the end of his life
span, he now doesn't want to take any risks. However, there is still one
enemy that Gen thrists to fight, but now just for the spirit of the
battle, but also to save his own life. Just because one day he was witness
of the powers of Dark Shotokan, now he has to live with the pursue of the
demons of Dark Shotokan. However, since he is reaching the end of his
life, he doesn't care, and will now face everybody he needs to get out
alive.

shadows. He is a powerful man, who posseses a lot of influences in the
world, and is very wealthy. However, deep inside, he hides a terrible
power, a power which has said to be that not of a human, more like a god.
He can control the elements of fire and cold at the same time, which very
few (or perhaps nobody) can presume to do. Gill considers himself a god
who shall punish foolish mortals who just try to challenge him. His task
of conquering is not so far fetched either, since he has the power and
skill to do so. Some say he is unbeatable, in fact, they say that the man
who can even touch him could be considered a man far beyond human
imagination. After all, no mortal could ever lift a finger against a god.

Guile is one of the few veterans still in action of the Special
Forces unit of the U.S. army. Even though he has excluded himself from
such unit, everybody still considers him to still be a quite valuable
member of the army.
However, Guile has suffered horrors and persecutions the like
nobody could resist, or at least, not any sane man or soldier. Because
Guile has suffered the unimaginable, the unspeakable, and is now tormented
by everything that has happened in his past. Ever since he was a rookie in
the army, everything he wanted to was defend his country against any
invasor, since the love for his country was overwhelming. During his
stance, he met two of his best friends: an experienced man named Charlie,
and a novice but still very merry soldier, who would later be known as
Doctrine Dark. All three made a great team, and all overcame all hardships
that involves being a member of the Special Forces of the U.S.. Guile
longs for these days, as in just little time, he would lose both of them
in such terrible incidents.
First off, Guile and Charlie wre assigned a mission to discover
and vanquish the secret crime organization known as Shadoloo, which hidden
headquarters laid in Thailand, in the middle of a jungle. Guile felt
assured to have his best friend along with him in this hard task, but
for some unexplainable reasons, Guile and Charlie were suprisingly
ambushed and sent to a underground dungeon. Why did everything went wrong
if everything was undercover was the thing that bothered Guile the most.
However, it was logical that Charlie and him wouldn't stay there all day,
so they decided to make a break for it. After narrowly escaping the
clutches of death from their perilous voyage, Charlie proposed he would
continue the operation alone. Guile felt obligated to refuse, but Charlie
knew better: this would certainly desconcentrate any posterior operation,
and would be too dangerous if the two kept along with this. After all,
Charlie worried a lot about Guile. Guile trusted Charlie's abilities, but
trust wasn't enough, as he was informed days later that Charlie had died
in action after facing the leader of Shadoloo, the evil dictator known
as M.Bison. Guile felt pain in his heart for first time, and couldn't
opress the feeling of vengeance in his soul. After that, he decided to
leave his loving family, the family he loved so much before and didn't
want anything to happen too, his wife Jane, his daughter Amy, both gone.
But by that time, Guile thought that they would be safer that way...out of
the reach of that madman. But before he could know it, tragedy stroke
twice.
Guile was assigned to ambush a secret headquarters in yet another
jungle in a faraway country, and this time, he had to lead the operation,
just as Charlie did in his last mission. Now his companion would be a
young man who leaded a very young and seemingly unexperienced unit. Guile
once again had a bad feeling, but coped with them anyhow. During the plan
to ambush the secret hideout, Guile sent the now known as Doctrine Dark
and his unit through the way where he thought it would be more safer.
After all, that unit wouldn't last too much in real combat situation, so
he wanted to prevent risks. Although, Guile didn't count that he was
against one terrible military man who was a genius in military strategy:
Rolento. Even though the operation was a complete success, Guile was
informed that the other unit was ambushed and wiped out almost completly.
Guile felt guilty once more, and the torment grew even stronger. Even more
when he was informed that one of the surviving
soldiers escaped from the hospital, who would later turn in his greatest
enemy, Doctrine Dark.
But Guile keeps fighting on, for his family, for Charlie and for
everyone who trusts him. He will vanquish Bison and not even that rookie
of Doctrine Dark would stop him in his quest for revenge.
Also look for Guile in: Charlie's ending of X-Men vs. Street
Fighter (referred as "Charlie's friend", but who is Capcom kidding? ;),
finding Charlie's missing dog tags and swearing vengeance. He also appears
ina background of Gem Fighter, playing cards with Charlie in Dee Jay's
bar. He is also in Final Fight 2, in the background of the end of the
second stage, France, in the airport. Also look for him in the Street
Fighter anime and the Street Fighter II V anime series (where he could be
the only one to beat the crap out of Ryu and Ken and live to tell about
it! :)
GUY
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter Alpha, Steet Fighter Alpha 2
Guy is a follower of the Bushido path, and he is also a student of
the Ninjitsu school. However, Guy is not a payed assasin for any means. He
is warrior of honor, and fights with such, and tries to win clean, not
using any dirty tricks. Guy trained since very young in the Ninjitsu
school, and his master was also a great legend of Ninjitsu and also a
follower of the Bushido path, Zeku (who was trained by the greatese ninja
legend alive, Genryusai). There he trained along with the daughters of
Genryusai, who were taken in by Zeku because Genryusai was too old to
teach them, and decided that his young disciple would do fine in teaching
them. Their names were Lena and Maki. Guy instanly fell in love with Lena,
who wasn't quite a skilled student of Ninjitsu, and decided to act just
like a house keeper. They have decided to marry, but until Guy finds out
his true mission.
And the true mission came out after many years of training under
Zeku's orders, and afterwards when Guy considered himself a master of the
Bushido way and of Ninjitsu. However, Zeku denied this, as Guy hasn't
proven himself to be a true master yet, as he has to find his own way, not
to follow just the Bushido principles. Guy thought that he should fight
constantly and defeat as many fighters as he could to show how worthy he
was of becoming a master. As a matter of fact, this time crossed up with
Guy's friends, who has the same idea as he did: the neighbor dojo, which
happened to be that of Gouken's, a great legend of Shotokan Karate. Guy
made friends with his best disciples, Ryu and Ken, and all three went on a
voyage to find their own ways. However, Guy soon knew that his master was
right, since that Bushido wasn't something passed down from generation to
generation, but something created, something that the own warrior must
discover in order to keep the Bushido way alive. Guy knew this, and thus,
became a true master of Bushido as well.
Guy has made many travels to the U.S., as well, and has found a
second home in Metro City. Surely not a place to love, though, since it
was always plagued with criminals and full of scum, which the main one was
the Mad Gear gang. Guy helped out his friend, the mayor Mike Haggar, twice
in eliminating the scum of Metro City, first to rescue his daughter
Jessica along with his son-in-law Cody from the Mad Gear, and the to
vanquish the Bone Cross gang later on. Guy was a main member of the
downfall of both groups, thsu bringing him a lot of hatred from many
ex-members, but Guy knows how to shrug them off: with the power of
his fists.
Also look for Guy in: Final Fight (not in the Super NES version
because he doesn't appear there), Mighty Final Fight, Final Fight 3, and
referred in Final Fight 2, but never appears (hey, his master and his
fiancee were kidnapped! What was he thinking? :). Also look for him in a
background of Gem Fighter, in the roof of Dee Jay's bar, sleeping while
Rolento is poking at him.
HOKUTO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Hokuto lived in a very united family. Her mother died when she was
young, but ever since, her father has trained her in his own martial arts
style of Kobujutsu. Hokuto also lived with his big brother, the always
troubled Kairi. Hokuto loved being with her family, and living in her
house represented quite a honor for her. However, it was soon to change.
Kairi left one day, and Hkuto felt very empty. She had developed
her own style by then, creatingher own way of portraying her art. However,
her father had grown old, and Kairi was needed to be with his father. But
Hokuto didn't know what to do. If fate would have had it, Hokuto met Kairi
one day, but strangely, he didn't remember anything: he was in a state of
dark amnesia, where he had an obsession of fighting people to actually
remember who he was. He thought that only seeing the blood of other people
would he remind what he was. Hokuto tried to reason with him, but this
almost costed her life. After fleeing Kairi's sight, Hokuto vowed she
would bring back her brother's memory nomatter what. The only thing she
can do now is to go meet the man who knows the dark power, and find the
true intentions of Kairi's dark amnesia.
SEAL OF BLOOD HOKUTO (Chi no Fuuin Hokuto): This is a superpowered
Hokuto, forced by her dark side. It was rumored that Hokuto revealed an
ancient scroll, which contained an evil spirit, and by opening it she was
possesed. Now as a mark, she has a blood sign on her forehead and now
seeks blood herself, just for the hunger of it.
SHINTO PRIESTESS HOKUTO: This, by the other side, is Hokuto's most
purest form. She adopts the pure ways of the Shinto priestesses and
marches out to bane the evil of the earth, using her Shinto knowledge to
purify and cleanse evil souls.
IBUKI
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apperances: Street Fighter III-New Generation (soon to be in Street
Fighter III-Second Impact)
Ibuki grew up in the midst of ninja family. Thus, she was trained
in the ways of a ninja since very young, and began to learn the basic
skills of Ninjitsu, such as gaining speed and bone breaking arts, but has
not advanced to such advanced skills such as teleporting. Although a life
of a ninja is strict, Ibuki enjoys living the life of a young girl of her
age. She just loves daydreaming, going to school with her friends (most of
them are ninjas that even go to the same school as she does), and passing
a lot of time with her pet racoon. Ibuki just loves the teenager life,
even though her destiny should be that of a payed assasin.
Now, Ibuki is offered her frst challenge by her master. It seems
that there is very powerful man somewhere in the Mediterranean area, and
who is menacing the world with his incredible power. Ibuki should
eliminate her at once, but not just for money, but for the destiny of
the whole world is in stake, and Ibuki shall go and eliminate him, even
though she dislikes taking the lives of other peoples.
Also look for Ibuki in: Gem Fighter
JOE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter
Joe is a lowlife hoodlum who lives in a third css trainyard as
part of the many homeless people in the U.S. society. And as many people
who lives in such conditions, Joe prefers to street fight for a living.
However, Joe has such a rusty technique, very typical of street brawling.
The method for winning with Joe is to use any means possible and with as
much techniques as possible, no matter what it takes. However, this is
what makes Joe too short of being a good fighter, and after failing
miserably in the first "King of Street Fighters" tournament held by Sagat,
he has returned to his trainyard and nobody has seen him ever since.
KAIRI
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Kairi is a lonely wolf who has no clue whatsover of his past.
Nobody knows exactly where Kairi comes from or what does he seek, but if
there is one thing that Kairi seeks, is to unlock the mystery of his past.
Ever since Kairi woke up, with a terrible wound crossing his right
eye, Kairi has been clueless. In that moment, a man cloaked in black
appeared in front of him, and invited Kairi to discover his blurry past by
doing just a simple mission: defeat and slaughter any opponent in front of
him. Kairi wasn't completly sure of it, but if it was any idea of getting
any closer to his past, Kairi would do so. And he has suprising abilities,
great speed, tremndous power, and a technique that is somewhat similiar to
the Shotokan Karate. Kairi is unknown that he has a father and a sister
named Hokuto, but ignorant to this fact, Kairi keeps on fighting to
cure himself from his amnesia, even if it takes as much as lives as
possible.
KEN MASTERS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: "Ken" actually means "inner spirit", and Masters is his last name
approved by Capcom Japan.
Appearances: Street Fighter, Street Fighter-The World Warrior Street
Fighter II-Champion Edition, Street Fighter II-Turbo Hyper Fighting, Super
Street Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand
Masters Challenge, Street Fighter-The Movie, Street Fighter Alpha, Street
Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, Street
Fighter III-New Generation (soon to be in Street Fighter III-Second Impact)
Ken is the only son of a wealthy American family, the Masters family. Ever
since young, Ken was surrounded by tremendous riches, but however, was
very undisciplined, since he was a spoiled brat, a kid who didn't have
enough attention from his parents who where too busy to attend him. So,
Ken began to do what he wanted to do: not attend to school, hang out with
his friends, having a lot of girlfriends, buying things out of control,
between other many things. Ken's father knew he couldn't do anything for
him since he didn't have the time to fix him up,so he did the next best
thing: he decided to send him to Japan. Ken chewed it and accepted, but
his father knew better: there was a certain man named Gouken whom Ken's
father knew about, and knew that of he send him to Gouken, he would
certainly straighten things up for him, even for the worst.
When Ken reached Gouken's dojo, he noticedone thing: this wasn't
his home anymore. Gouken submitted Ken to strict rules, and Ken felt for
first time the iron hand of a superior. Ken had to train very hard, and
not slack off like he did in the U.S., or he would be punished for that.
However, Ken found a friend. A friend that was different from his friends
back in the U.S.. This guy was silent, not much fond to words, but very
expressive, and very generous, sort of like the real friend anybody should
have. His name was Ryu, and he had been in the dojo long before Ken
arrived, but Ken soon catched up. However, Ryu had that certain
something that distinguished him from Ken, maybe his greater fighting
spirit, but otherwise, Ken and Ryu's abilities were considered almost
equal.
As a test of their abiliies, Ken and Ryu entered the first
"King of Street Fighters" tournament held by Sagat. Both were
unexperienced, and would face many fighters who have already fought for
quite some time. However, Ken and Ryu had unexplaiable powers, and a will
to keep them on, despite the odds. They trusted everything on their
abilities, and they showed a great sense of competition. Ken, however,
wasted more time bragging his abilities, and showing off to the crowd
rather than concentrating on the tournament. This lead him to think that
he as the best fighter in the world, but Ryu proved him wrong, as he
was the one who defeated Sagat at the end, and Ken saw this as an insult
to his abilities. He didn't hate Ryu, it's just that he couldn't
understand why he couldn't overpass him.
After that, Ken trained very hard on his own to overcome
Ryu the next time they would fight. He promised to Ryu that he would
defeat him next time and steal his title, which Ryu gladly accepted. Ken
had to surpass his own limits, and thus, learned how to truly channel his
true abilities. During his training time, he met a woman who woud later
change his life for the best: a daughter of another rich family named
Eliza which he met during a party. After some years, Ken and Ryu finally
faced off. Ryu was sort of troubled ever since he fought Sagat, since
Ken felt that Ryu was concentrating really on the fight. Ken declared the
fight suspended, and gave a present to Ryu: his ribbon which tied his long
hair, which would remind him of the fight. Ken knew that if Ryu dedicated
himself more to the fight, he would have certainly be defeated, so he
resumed his training. However, he didn't last too much, and once again the
luxiours life of a rich man got the best of him, and decided to slack off
at the beach with Eliza rather than keep perfecting his skills. Ken
thought that since it would be a long time for him and Ryu to fight again,
he decided to take a break meanwhile.
Years later, Ken received a challenge. It was Ryu. He hadn't
forgotten the fight, and challenged once again to prove himself. Revived
and with more inspiration than before, Ken trained harder, and perfected
the art of Shotokan Karate, especially his best weapon, the super powerful
Shoryuken. Ken now faced new opponents in this new battle, but he ended up
joining up with Ryu instead of fighting against him, since both had to
fight against two main evils: the evil dictator with a wish to conquer the
world, the leader of Shadoloo, M.Bison, and the killer of their master,
Akuma. Ken demostrated his advances and was a base to defeat the evil
forces of the world. Afterwards, Ken took a break to marry Eliza, but he
didn't slack off this time, but trained more regularly.
During the course of the years, Ken had a son, which he named Mel,
and was offered to be the master of a young man. However, Ken was more
focused towards his rematch with Ryu. After all, he was restricted as
well, since Eliza obligated him only to particpate in tournaments where
Ryu would fight. Ken now seeks the rematch with Ryu, and now feels
prepared, up and ready for Ryu's next challenge...perhaps the last?
Also look for Ken in: X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super
Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Gem Fighter, and is supposedly the hero of the
old game named Street Fighter 2010: The Final Battle. Also look for him in
the Street Fighter anime and the Street Fighter II V anime series
(well, if there's Street Fighter, then Ken has to be there almost by law).
KYBER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter-The Movie
As a part of an operation which involves creating cyborgs able to house
altered genes, M.Bison and his crew of scientists created the first series
of cyborgs. The original was named Blade, and three other replicas were
created after it. Kyber is one of these replicas, and banned to watch
over his leader from afar, he would only enter the fray only if someone
would dare challenge his master.
LEE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter
Lee is a Chinese kung fu master who is willing to challenge the
strongets fighte on the earth. His fighting skills are those of a master,
and is willing to show both old and new generations what he is made of. It
is said that his fighting abilities are mesmerizing, and that he can quite
finish the battle in a few seconds. A good natured man, Lee has no regrets
for fighting, and wouldn't mind if somebody beats him someday, as such is
fate of life.
M.BISON(Vega in Japan)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: If you were wondering what the hell does the M stand for in M.Bison,
well, Capcom says it adds to his mystery. Yeah right, just another excuse
after changing his name for that for Balrog's just to avoid lawsuits from
Mike Tyson (in other words, getting their ears bitten off :).
Appearances: Street Fighter II-The World Warrior, Street Fighter
II-Champion Edition, Street Fighter II-Turbo Hyper Fighting, Super Street
Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand Masters
Challenge, Street Fighter-The Movie, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter
Alpha 2, Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
There are many evil souls in this world. Too many, perhaps. But
for every one of them, M.Bison has to have the darkest soul of all. A man
with no mercy, no feelings, no happiness whatsover, Bison is a ruthless
psychopath who has enough power to dominate the world, or such he thought.
The origins of Bison are unknown. Some say he is a demon disguised
as a human, or that he was possesed by some strange power when he was a
child. The truth is, he has surged from the shadows to create the infamous
crime organization known as Shadoloo, and has commanded it through many
operations. He has made it stand out far beyond a national terrorist
group from Thailand. He has now made it international, with many agents
around the world, and striking fear in all the goverments around the
world. Bison has learned to rule with an iron hand, not with fancy words.
And he has power enough to gather masses, as he is dominant of a
strange power which comes from his dark soul known as "psycho power". This
power channels strange flames from his body, and can obliterate any human
being in matter of seconds. Such was the fate of many people who refused
entering the ranks of Shadoloo. Many has tried to defeat him. Nobody has
returned alive. Such was the fate of Chun Li's father and Charlie. Bison
is inhuman, a man with no mercy.
Commanding the dark forces, Bison now seeks the ultimate goal
in his quest to conquer the world: gather all the information from all the
street fighters of the world and gather it to create perfect warriors.
However, Bison doesn't lose the chance to capture the street fighters
themselves and brainwash them so the can serve him as mindless zombies.
Bison knows what to do. Even though he is aided by three strong warriors
(Balrog, Vega, and Sagat), Bison knows his army is weak, and so he
recruits people with power beyond imagination. Thus, he created a
tournament where evrybody who won would be his next victim. However, it is
presumed that he is now dead after being vanquished by Ryu and Ken. Such
is the fate of the dark side.
Also look for M.Bison in: X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super
Heroes vs. Street Fighter. He is also in three backgrounds of Gem Fighter.
He is in the window of the mall stage, acting as Cammy's father. He is
also in the mountain stage sleding (and crashing :), and finally, in the
Chinese restaurant stage, eating "ramen" (noodle soup) with Birdie
at his side. Also look for him in the Street Fighter anime and the Street
Fighter II V anime series (where he looks VERY evil!).
MIKE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter
Mike grew up in a ghetto fond of boxing. Even though Mike had a
great power in his fists, a great speed, and a tremendous skill to knock
down enemies at the first blow, Mike didn't like professional boxing. He
hated being limited by rules, so he could use low tricks such as kicking
or hitting below the belt. Mike liked street brawling a lot, such as in
the life in the hoodlums. Mike likes to see his opponent bleeding, and
also likes betting a lot in his matches. He was so confident in his
abilities, that he entered the first "King of Street Fighters" tournament
held by Sagat, thinking he was the best. What he didn't know, was that the
world was a big place for a common American boxer, and he was surprised at
how bad he did. Apparently losing all his money, Mike has retired from
anything relationed with boxing or street fighting.
NECRO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter III-New Generation (soon to be in Street
Fighter III-Second Impact)
Russia is a cold place, a cold place with almost no laws at all,
or no established government whatsover. People live barely as they have
to, with little few rations to cope with the bitter cold and poor society.
Such began the life of Necro, a young Russian boy who was born and raised
in a little village at thie side of a lake. Necro obviously was no
different than the other people, and also had to work to support his
family, either working in mines or factories. He had a numerous family,
and didn't want everybody to die from starvation. So Necro decided to get
a job in Moscow, where job oppotunities were more numerous than in the
countryside. The comunism reign was reaching it's end, and it finally
collapsed by when Necro reached the capital.
A good natured boy, Necro saw with disbelief how the inner
war began. Everybody was running crazy. Nobody knew what to do. Necro was
confused and didn't know why everybody was so in a ruckus. All of a
sudden, some men dressed in black aproached Necro, and in a flash,
mugged him and captured him. They took him into a limosuine, and there is
where Necro's torture begins.
In a hidden laboratory, Necro was racked in pain several times
after being injected with chemicals several times. His body began to
suffer transformations, and his appearance almost didn't belong to a human
anymore. He began to suffer changes and manifest certain powers such as
being able to flex his limbs to unimaginable proportions, and surging
electricity charges from his body. After the experiment being completed,
now Necro's punishment was not near from over. He was banned to serve his
captors, a secret organization, to eliminate their enemies, and do battle
against human race. Even though Necro completes the job sometimes, he
still longs for freedom. So now, as the Russian government, Necro plans to
give a hard blow to the higher commands of the organization, even if it
means facing the leader himself.
ORO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: As a cultural intermission, "oro" in Spanish means "gold" (not that
that has something to do with Oro, but the fact remains).
Appearances: Street Fighter III-New Generation (soon to be in Street
Fighter III-Second Impact)
Sometimes, mystical creatures hide in the places undiscovered yet
by mankind. And deep in the Amazon jungle, hiding in a cave, lies Oro. He
is one of those people who live like a hermit, and his appearances shows:
a desfigured man dressed in rags. But Oro doesn't seem to mind. In fact,
he doesn't mind what humanity ever thinks. He is disgusted with humans,
and as such, has retired to solitude in his cave, where his only friends
happen to be animals, whom he thinks, are more comprenhensive and
intelligent than human beings ever will.
Oro also happens to be one of the few old men in the fighting
arena. He doesn't have a specific fighting style: his skills resemble
dancing more than anything else. He acts almost like a chicken, and pecks
like a bee. However, this doesn't mean Oro is near from weak. In fact, his
powers are very strong, and no human on earth was near to compare to him
back in his golden days, and he feels nothing has changed in the past few
years, since has been living on earth for decades now. He has found no
competition for his likes, and seeing that nobody would ever beat him, he
decided to impose himself a handicap: he banned his left arm. Now fighting
with his right arm only, Oro feels the competition will be more equal, or
so he thinks. Now bored of spending time in his cave, Oro has decided to
come out of his cave and take a sniff of fresh air. So, he now travels the
world seeing how the new generation of fighters have evolved. Hopefully,
he will find a worthy challenge and keep him or her as a student. If
there wasn't, then he would keep on sleeping in his cave for another
decade to come.
PULLUM PURNA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Pullum is the daughter of a wealthy Arabian family, in fact,
could be considered one of the richest families in the world no less.
Pullum is a joyful girl who loves spending time with nature, playing in
the outdoors, and just having a good time. She's definetly no spoiled
girl, but she sure likes to get in troubles sometimes. As such, Pullum's
father has taken her into a fighting school, but even though the classes
are rough and Pullum has to be very disciplined, Pullum takes it lightly,
as she sees it as another hobby in her life.
Besides her parents, whom she lovs very much, Pullum has other two
special persons in her life: one of them is her grandfather, a wise man,
who has been roaming the earth for much time, and knows all of it's
secrets. He also seems to know if evil is present in the world. Pullum
sees him as the best grandfather a girl can have, since he is very funny
and at the same time very intelligent. The other person who Pullum
respects a lot is her friend, Blair Dame. The Dame and Purna family have
always had close relations, both economically and personally. Blair and
Pullum seem to follow thsi tradition, but they seem more closer than any
of the other people in both families. Thus, Pullum would seem to lead a
very peaceful life to be fighting. But now when somebody messes with the
people she loves.
Wandering through her father's palace, Pullum humed and chanted,
like any normal day. And since she was such in a good mood, she decided to
pay her grandfather a visit in his room. Oddly, Pullum heard no sound from
the room. Worried sick, Pullum entered. There was his grandfather
allright, lying on his bed. But something strange happened to him: he
didn't seem to be in this world anymore. He was stiff like a cadaver, but
was still breathing. He seemed to be under some sort of hypnosis. Pullum
found a book on her grandfather's lap. It had the words marked "Shadoloo"
on it's cover. Pullum closed the book and took action: whoever was
Shadoloo was bound to pay what they did to her grandfather.
Pullum now takes out throughout the world, with her friend Blai
and bodyguard Darun, to seek out Shadoloo. She still has her good nature,
but hatred has found house in her soul for the first time, and now, it's
unstopable.
RETSU
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter
Retsu is a Japanese monk who now lives solitude in a monastery in
the mountains of Japan. Actually, Retsu was supposed to be a student of
Shotokan Karate under the orders of Goutetsu, but he left for no solid
reasons. Perhaps he grew tired and decided to live a more peaceful life.
However, the fighting spirit inside him still burned, and whenever he felt
the nearby presence of an entity, he would come out from the shadows and
challenge it. However, his votes of no fighting have forbidden to take
this decision very often. Retsu participated in the first "King of Street
Fighters" tournament held by Sagat, but even though his power was far
beyond many participants, he decided to quit halfway through the
tournament. He felt it was more peaceful living a long, peaceful life than
having it ruined by fighting irrationally.
ROLENTO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter Alpha 2
As a veteran soldier of the Vietnam war, the tumas experienced by
Rolento took him too far. After all, he was just a young soldier waiting
for an opportunity to fight and show what he was made of. However, in
actual combat situation, Rolento noticed that not everything like they
used to picture it in the movies. It was far, far more terrible. After
being wounded several times, and experienced the slaughter of many of his
comrades, Rolento's mind couldn't stand it anymore, and thus, created the
psycho madman we know today.
Rolento first entered as a member of the Mad Gear gang, the group
that ruled Metro City with an iron fist. However, Rolento disliked being
under somebody else's orders, so he wasn't affected at all for the
disintegration of it at hands of the mayor of Metro City, Mike Haggar, and
his friends Cody and Guy. However, Rolento hasn't forgotten the
humilliation the trio made him passed, and swore he would get even one
day.
After Mad Gear's disintegration, Rolento rejoined several members
of it plus some more soldiers of his to regather a small army, of which
Rolento was the superior. Rolento was very strict to his soldiers. After
all, after so many years of brutal butchery in the war, he took the
actions at heart. He had a military brain, though, and was very skilled on
the combat field. His speed was also very mesmerizing, where he could jump
everywhere and flip like a monkey. He also liked to carry several weapons,
between them, his baton, a pack of grenades, knifes, and a cable. His army
was the best he could have, but was very severe with it. If nobody would
obey him, he would show them the terror of punishment, perhaps death
itself.
The objective of Rolent after all these years has been to punish
the heroes of Metro City, and since Guy was separated from the group for a
while, Rolento saw in this the perfect opportnity to show everyone his
true power: his and that of his army. Now on a new battlefield and
with new enemies, Rolento seeks to build a country which will overcome all
types of goverments, and where he would rule the country with an iron
hand.
Also look for Rolento in: Final Fight (not in the Super NES
version because he doesn't appear there), Final Fight 2, and in two
backgrounds of Gem Fighter: one, in Dee Jay's bar, in the roof, poking at
a sleeping Guy with his baton, and the other one at the Chinese
restaurant, eating a bowl of "ramen" (noodle soup), but crawling on the
floor.
ROSE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2
Rose is a psychic, who predicts destinies through the lecture
tarot cards. However, Rose's purpose in this world has other meanings.
Dressed always like a gypsy, Rose controls and wields a power that can be
used for both healing and destroying: a power only known as "soul power".
Rose channels this soul power through any part of her body, and even
through objects. Rose always seeks the perfect balance between the forces
of good and evil. If anybody dares to unbalance that scale, she would
enter the action scene, erradicating any evil that lurks the world.
Now, Roe feels that the planet's energy is more balanced to the

most powerful of them seems to come from wielder of the "psycho power",
which is the alter-ego of Rose's soul power. Now that Rose has detected
the precise source of it, she will go out and face the evil face to face.

RYU
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: "Ryu" is the actual Japanese name for "dragon" (makes kind of sense,
don't you think?).
Also, in the live-action movie, they actually named him Ryu Hoshi! :P

There has been no man as legendary as Ryu. Throughout the world,
there is not a word more pronounced with fear and respect than his name.
As the greatest street fighter who has ever exsisted, Ryu never has
satisified himself with the goals he has accomplished. He always feels
there is something more in the world that can help him to perfect his
abilities, and always seeks out new opponents who can help him in such
mission. Ryu follows the same dream that Gouken always had: to seek the
true path of a warrior. Now, Ryu comes closer and closer to discovering
the secret, but at the same time, so far from accomplishing it.
Ryu's life begins as a orphan who was picked up by the great
legend of Shotokan Karate, Gouken. He was taken to Gouken's dojo back in
the mountains of Japan, and began to teach him in the arts of Shotokan
Karate. Gouken found out that Ryu had a certain feeling, something that
made him special: that dedication, his ability, his facility to practice
the art and how easily he mastered the basics. Gouken thought he had found
the perfect disciple to lend down his knowledge. However, a rich American
boy named Ken Masters came to the dojo shortly after Ryu, and thus, both
trained under Gouken's liege, but Ryu always had that special something
that maked him a dedicated warrior and a excellent fighter.
After many years of training, Ryu decided to advance into his next
stage of training: learn the secret arts of Shotokan Karate. He knew that
there were special techniques in the Shotokan training which involved the
use of inner energy. However, before he could master it, Gouken inspired
them to enter the first "King of Street Fighters" tournament to see how
much his disciples had progressed. Ryu found this interesting, since this
was the first time he would face another opponents from around the world.
Ryu's fighting spirit burned with more intensity than before in
anticipation of facing great fighters from around the world. In a word,
Ryu learned from each and every one of them, and took their advices to
note. Besides that, Ryu advanced slowly but steadily in the tournament,
and earned the right to face the organizer of the tournament, the
considered "King of Street Fighters", the Muetai legend of Thailand,
Sagat. Sagat considered Ryu just to be a lucky boy, and insulted himself
for having to face little boys now. But the little boy as Sagat claimed
gave him the fight of his life. After a dominating start of Sagat, Ryu
took up the pace of the battle, and soon turned the tables on Sagat with a
more refined technique. At the end, with both fighters exhausted, Ryu
remembered the technique his master Gouken used to do constantly. It was
rising uppercut which channeled all the force of the dragon. Ryu didn't
exactly knew what it was, but all of a sudden, a thought appeared in his
mind, a move, a name. Suddenly, when Sagat was about to deliver the final
blow, Ryu produced a great energy through his fist, and called upon the
power of Shoryuken to rip right through Sagat. Ryu was now declared the
new "King of Street Fighters", but he never stayed to claim his title. Ryu
was like that: prizes were something beyond his concern. The fight was
everything for him.
After winning the title, Ryu gleefully wantd to tell Gouken about
his great experience at the tournament. But, he couldn't: Gouken died some
days before Ryu came. However, he did not die from natural causes: he was
killed, killed by a man cloaked in black and with red-flame hair. Ryu
didn't know what to do: he was confused. Everybody was beginning to
pressure Ryu for his victory against Sagat, that he was too small for such
a big bill, that he didn't have the skill to support his title, between
many other hardships. Everybody wanted a claim for fame against Ryu, and
Ryu didn't knew what to do. he knew he had to perfect his abilities, but
not if everybody was nosing around. Ryu just continued his training, and
kept fighting for the sake of his master.
Years later, Ryu now faces new enemies in new
battlegrounds. He has passed through many events. He was pursued by a
vengeance-driven Sagat, a battle-hungry Ken, a school student named
Sakura, the evil dictator leader of Shadoloo M.Bison, and many others.
However, during the perfection of his skills and the during his path to
discover the true warrior, Ryu found many good friends in where he
expected to find rivals. This was comforting, since Ryu wasn't driven to
words anyway. His always best friend and rival, Ken, the always funky and
groovy Dan, the little girl Sakura, the wise Guy, between many others
aided Ryu and helped himfind his true way to perfect his skills and
dominate many fighting strategies. Now, after perfecting the skill of
throwing inner energy from his hands as projectiles, Ryu now faces the new
generation of fighters, but anyway, Ryu stands up to the challenge, his
red headband given to him by Ken during a fight now reminds him, as for he
is the master to end all masters, the fighter of the century, and more
importantly, a great human being.
EVIL RYU (Satsui no Hado Ryu, Psycho Ryu): Akuma, the man who had
killed Gouken with the power of Dark Shotokan, tempted Ryu into the dark
side. This made Ryu curious enough, but swore to not fall in the evil
powers. However, after his fight with Ken, he was captured by the forces
of Shadoloo leaded by M.Bison, and then submitted to mind control
devices, where he could finally escape, but he still had the evil feeling
inside him. Now, ever once in a while, the evil aura surges with more
force, and Ryu turns into a evil man able to wield the power of Dark
Shotokan. However, since he is not pure evil as Akuma, he has not been
possesed by evil forces. However, even though Ryu has managed to overcome
his evil side, his curse will always remain, awaiting to surge any moment.

SAGAT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes The "tiger" (which Sagat represents) and the "dragon" (which Ryu
represents) are supposed to be mortal enemies in the Japanese mythology,
and this brings on in Street Fighter as well.
Appearances: Street Fighter, Street Fighter II-The World Warrior, Steet

Street Fighter II-New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo-Grand

He was once on top of the world. He was once praised as the best
street fighter ever to roam the face of the earth. And everything crumbled
in the blink of an eye. Such is the story of the greatest Muetai legend of
Thailand, champion Sagat.
Ever since he was yong, Sagat trained in the art of Muetai, taking
advantage of his huge size, since he had long limbs to punish his enemies
from afar, so he decided to train himself in building his built in those
points so his hits would hurt hard as well as reaching far. After a few
years, Sagat entered the Thai Muetai circuit, and quickly rised up to the
top elite of the championship. It didn't took him long to reach the top
place of the country. He called upon the power of the tiger in his inner
energy, creating devastating blows and able to channel his inner energy in
chi blasts that were overwhelming for his opponents. He almost obliterated
his enemies by crushing them with his massive hits. Nobody in Thailand
could ever lift a finger to him, and he soon realized that nobody in the
world could either. Thus, Sagat became the undisputed champion of the
world. Even some lucky guy named Oh Hibiki managed to remove his right
eye, and after taking his life away in rage, he showed the world how
serious he could get. Nobody would ever challenge him, but instead, many
would become his students. Sagat was feared and respected throughout the
world. A honorable man at heart, Sagat wanted to know if he was truly the
best fighter on earth by holding a tournament named the "King of Street
Fighters".
During the course of the tournament, Sagat found out that
everything was going all right, but he heard rumors of a little Japanese
boy who was making his way through the event. Sagat laughed and cursed
himself for having to house children instead of facing real fighters. But
he would face him, and by destroying him, he would prove the world how
strong he really was. But the only man who was going to prove something
was the boy named Ryu, who surprised Sagat with his skillful abilities and
his superior power. Even though Sagat was sort of getting an upper hand in
the battle, he couldn't believe how such a young man could cause him so
much trouble. Decided to finish the boy before things got ugly, Sagat
decided to finish him off just like he did with that Oh Hibiki guy.
However, he was surprised by an uppercut which ripped through his
chest, creating an inmense wound. Sagat was defeated, and falling down
with him was his name and honor.
Sagat felt insulted by this, and retired to a faraway place to
resume his training. His scar on his chest reminds him every day of his
defeat, and inspired him to train harder. However, even if he did complete
his training, how could he find Ryu? He heard about a secret crime
organization known as Shadoloo, and decided that they would take him to
Ryu, even if he wasn't interested in all the criminal activities realized
by their leader, M.Bison. Sagat resumed his training there, trying to find
a weapon able to compete with the weapon who wounded him, the
Shoryuken. Sagat then developed a Tiger Uppercut, which left a lot of
risks for Sagat, but if it landed, it would cause as much or even more
damage than the Shoryuken ever would. With this technique and his previous
experience, Sagat became the second best man in all Shadoloo.
Now Sagat searches out for Ryu until the ends of the world, and even if it
took him the rest of his life, he would find him and defeat him no matter
what to recover the lost honor and glory.

SAKURA KASUGANO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: A "sakura" in Japanese are the chery blossom leaves which bloom in
spring (those cute pink leaves you see all the time in animes).
Appearances: Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Sakura's interest in street fighting has increased a lot in the
past few years. Since the beginning, Sakura was just a normal Japanese
girl living with a normal family and living a normal life. However,
something gave birth inside her, and all of a sudden, a unusual interest
for fighting surged inside her. Then, Sakura decided to take classes with
several martial arts masters, however, none of them had a special
influence over her. She began to think that she would never find the
inspiration she needed, and was about to quit out. However, she read in
the newspapers about a certain man named Ryu, who had recently won the
"King of Street Fighters" tournament defeating the champion Sagat.
Suddenly, Sakura instantly thought that he was the man from he would take
the example after.
Sakura began to learn about the Shotokan Karate, and soon
took brief notices of the main secret techniques of the martial art. She
felt that she would make Ryu proud if she became stronger, so she trained
even harder. Her best friend, Kei, doesn't know why a young girl such as
Sakura should be risking herself by fighting, and always missing out
classes. After running into three college men, and giving them a lesson
after they tried to abuse of them, it was pretty clear for Sakura that she
should see Ryu personally to ask him to be her master, and really be the
hero she should seem to represent for Tokyo.
DARK SAKURA: After further investigation, and in the
alternate universe of Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Sakura
discovered the secrets of the Dark Shotokan, and unknown of it's dark
intentions, she unsealed the secrets, and thus, becoming an evil copy of
herself. But, like Ryu, she wasn't truly evil, so she wasn't possesed by
demons, and after surpassing the evil temptation, Sakura decided to make a
"good" variation of the Shun Goku Shatsu, without any risk of killing the
other enemy: the "Spring Hell Death".
SPECIAL SAKURA (Sailor colors Sakura): This is just a Sakura who
ties to imitate the colors of the Sailor Moon manga/anime series. She also
has a Sailor Moon-like move like a Rising Slam. It seems that Sakura also
likes to see a lot of manga/anime besides fighting (a normal girl, after
all :)

friends, but he also loved fighting. Sean always loved a good fight, as he
grew up in a neighborhood which had a lot of problems with the police.
Sean was teached by his grandfather first in the principles of karate, but
Sean wanted to go far beyond common karate skills. He felt he had
something speical, something that his normal fighting skills wouldn't cope
with.
Suddenly, he saw a fight broadcasted on T.V.. It was from the
U.S., and it pictued a man named Ken Masters, America martial art
champion. As soon as he saw Ken's first moves, Sean knew that that should
be the art he would practice: Shotokan Karate. Sean gathered enough money
to take a plane to New York, where Ken was seen the last time. He wanted
deeply that Ken would be his master. He wanted to know more about that
martial art that seemed perfect for his limits. Sean hated losing, so
learning Shotokan Karate would certainly avoid that plague.
Sean was surprised at how cold New York was. He also never
had seen snow before, whereas Brazil had a tropical weather. However,
despite the bitter cold, Sean felt warm deep inside his chest when he
spotted Ken shopping along with his wife, Eliza. Sean instantly came up
to Ken, and asked him directly to be his master. Ken informed the young
man that he would come back when he was ready. After leaving, Sean kept
waiting in that corner. Many days have passed, and he is still there. He
still waits for a chance for his hero to teach him so he can become a true
master.
SKULLOMANIA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearances: Street Fighter EX, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
As any common Japanese man, Skullomania worked everyday as a
salesman. However, Skullomania was very irregular and a mediocre salesman.
He didn't have any luck selling people anything, and he was quite much a
failure. He was the black sheep of many people in his company. He just
didn't know how to be a good worker. Clumsy and stupid, Skullomania was
pressed by his bosses to keep being a good salesman, and seeing his
constant mistakes, the company had a better idea for Skullomania right
next to firing him.
During an exhibitio in a amusement park, Skullomania's company had
an exhibit and had to have some entertainment for the little children who
would certainly assist to the park, and would gain clients that way, since
children always have strong influences over their parents. Skullomania, as
a last chance to convince his bosses. In order to do so, Skullomania
dressed himself in a skeleton costume, and went to the amusement park. He
began his act, in front of dozens of childrens with their wealthy parents
by their side. He was offered a fight against a prototype fighting robot.
The company assured Skullomania no risk of getting hurt, and of case
of doing so, his poor excuse of a medical assurance would cover the
damages.
However, when Skullomania began to fight, something stange awoke
inside him. He had a hunger for the fight, he enjoyed it, he had an
unexplainable ability, a great skill, and most of all, dedication and
cunning. He soon found out that he was useful for something, something
that wasn't selling. After smashing the robot into pieces, the company was
disgusted at the fact that an expensive machine had been destroyed, but
was pleased at the fact that the children liked Skullomania and that they
were gaining clients by the minute. His bosses offered him a
promotion, but Skullomania knew his interests lied elsewhere. An
incompetent salesman had died and a new fighter was born.
SODOM (Katana in the Super NES version of Street Fighter Alpha 2, to
mantain continuity with the Final Fight series)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: If you are afollower of the Christian religion, "Sodom" was the city
of sinners that was burned down by God, and everybody who turned around to
face the ruins of the city would turn into salt (Now you can get an idea
of why Nintendo didn't want that name?
;)
Appearnces: Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2
Sodom was born in the U.S., but he was a follower of the Japanese
culture ever since he was a child. He despised his American heritage and
began to study Japanese history. He wasn't very skilled in speaking the
language, though, so he decided to copy their way of life. In doing so,
Sodom also began to verse himself in the ways of Japanese martial arts
and weapon handling, and thus, Sodom became very masterful with several
weapons such as katanas and jittes. Sodom almost felt like if he were a
son of a typical Japanese family.
However, due that many people thought that American people
shouldn't betray their roots, job opportunities were scarse for Sodom. He
wasn't accepted in high ranked places, and when he worked, it was in
lowlife places. By these reasons, Sodom felt obligated to go beyond
the law to become somebody. Such, he entered the Mad Gear crime ring in
Metro City, where he became one of the top members and most loyal to
Belger, the leader of the gang. However, ever since Belger decided to
blackmail the mayor Mike Haggar in surrendering the city by kidnapping
his daughter, Jessica, Sodom didn't know by a chance that the end of the
Mad Gear was near. As the same Mike Haggar and his son-in-law Cody sent
Belger plunging to his doom, Sodom was defeated by Haggar's friend, the
ninja Guy.
After the disolution of the Mad Gear gang, Sodom gathered what was
left of the Mad Gear gang, and promised all of them to create a more
prosperous and a more formal gang than the Mad Gear ever was. But his
supposed lackeys wouldn't believe a single thing, until Sodom
proved that he was worthy enough of leading them. The test that they
imposed to Sodom was very simple: defeat the men who destroyed the Mad
Gear in the first place. Sodom wasn't bothered by this request, and found
it even entertaining, since he was consumed by vengeance towards Guy, and
wouldn't mind taking a few risks trying to defeat him. Decided to prove
how weak Guy really is, and to prove that he is a worthy leader as well,
Sodom now parts to gather the greatest army in history and overcome any
opposition in his way.

Zangief was born in the frozen regions of Siberia in the
northernart of the now-extinct USSR. Having to live under the hardships of
the bitter cold and the thick snow, Zangief had to work out hard in order
to support the sub-zero temperatures. Thus, he began to work at a steel
factory near his home village. Doing so not only provided him the
necessary heat to live, but also builded his physical strength by pumping
iron and having to carry heavy weights with just his body. By doing so,
Zangief began to develop a buffed up body and became as hard as a rock.
Taking the advice of his work companions, Zangief was tempted to
enter the Russian wrestling federation. After all, he had the body to work
with, and the strength of many men. Zangief began to alternate between his
work at the factory with his hobby of wrestling bears in the most frozen
regions of Siberia. Zangief had a hard time dominating the bears at first,
such is reflected in the scars that cover his body. However, during hard
training and practices at local gyms and the mountains, Zangief began to
become the masters of the bears, bending them to his will. Now Zangief was
ready to take on his opponents in the wrestling ring.
His entrance in the Russian wrestling federation was a complete
success. Having done away with his opponent in just a few seconds, Zangief
was pretty much destined to become the new champ of the circuit. His power
was unmatched, and his piledriver was feared and respected throughout the
USSR. Winning the championship belt in just a little while wasn't enough
for Zangief. Becoming a national hero was just the first step in his
consagration. He knew that his skills needed more cleaning up with. So, he
tried to improve his patented piledriver. He went back to the frozen
countryside of Siberia to try and practice. He couldn't any possible way
to improve his piledriver, until a sudden storm broke out. Zangief was
taken by surprise, since the storm wasn't like anything he had seen
before. The wind gushes were very strong, enough to tear trees down.
Suddenly, Zangief was blown away by a gush of wind and spinned
and twisted through the air. He fell to the ground head first with a big
thud. Suddenly, moments later, Zangief rised out of the ground with a
maniac laughter. He had found his inspiration which would then
result in his most mortal technique: the Screw Piledriver.
Bored of the lack of competition in the Russian wrestling
federation, Zangief seeked new battlegrounds outside the USSR. He now
wanted all the world to know his great power. His love for his country
inspired him in his quest, and receiving the support of the president of
the USSR, Mijahli Gorbachev, Zangief could get enough financial support to
travel the world. Good humored and well natured, Zangief was a
gentleman, but he also had a rivalry with his opponents from the United
States, a country which he still doesn't seem to trust even after the Cold
War. After his Quad Lariat technique was copied by the American wrestler
known as Mike Haggar, Zangief marked all Americans for defeat. Now
Zangief stands ready to face anybody who wishes to test his strength.
MEGA ZANGIEF: The ultimate Zangief, this Zangief is a no-holds
barred, all-out warrior. He takes no breaks, and will even walk into a hit
to grap his enemy. Not having time to defend from attacks, Zangief is
decided to applicate his Screw Piledriver at any cost.
Also look for Zangief in: X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super

This about wraps it up for this time. As I said, Hugo and Urien, the new
fighters in Street Fighter III: Second Impact are still missing. I know
Urien is Gill's little brother and Hugo is a German wrestler, but that's
about it. As you can see, Street Fighter has a lot to offer storywise, and
I hope you enjoyed the ride. Have fun and no drugs please!
