  22. What's in the distribution?

  24. This distribution contains DirectDraw and Glide drivers for Voodoo Rush
  25. when running with Alliance AT25 (AT3D). The DirectDraw portion of the 
  26. drivers supports Direct3D when using DirectX 5.0.

  36. - PC with a Pentium or Pentium Pro Processor and a free PCI slot
  37. - 16MB of RAM
  38. - DirectX 5.0

  40. Upgrade Existing AT25/Voodoo Rush Drivers
  41. -----------------------------------------
  42.  
  43. 1) Start Windows 95
  44. 2) Extract the files for the AT25/Voodoo Rush driver to a directory.
  45. 3) Click Start, Contol Panel.  Double-click on Display.
  46. 4) Click the settings tab
  47. 5) Click Change Display Type
  48. 6) Under Adapter Type, Click Change
  49. 7) Click Have Disk
  50. 8) You will be prompted as follows:

  52.      Windows 95 Standard Release users: Enter the path to the extracted drivers
  53.  
  54.               Windows 95 OEM SR2 users: Click the Next Button, no updated
  55.                     drivers will be found.   Click on
  56.                     "Other Location" then enter the path
  57.                     to the extracted drivers.

  59. 9) When asked to choose a device, select "Alliance 3D + Voodoo Rush"
  60. 10) You may then be prompted to insert the Windows 95 Alliance 3D + Voodoo
  61.     Rush Driver Disk.  Enter the path to the drivers again.
  62. 11) Windows will copy the drivers.   Reboot the system when prompted
  63. 12) Install DirectX 5.0

  69. Fresh Installation 
  70. ------------------

  72. NOTE: It is suggested that the extracted drivers be copied to a
  73. floppy when executing a fresh installation.
  74.  
  75. 1) Before removing your existing 2D card switch the video driver to 
  76.    Standard VGA
  77. 2) If you have an exisiting 3Dfx Voodoo based card also remove the 
  78.    following key:
  79.     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\CurrentControlSet\DirectDrawDrivers
  80. 3) Power off system and remove your existing 2D card and any Voodoo 
  81.    based cards
  82. 4) Install the AT25 and Voodoo Rush Combo Card in a free PCI Slot
  83. 5) Power on the system and verify that video appears during post
  84. 6) Start Windows 95
  85.  
  86.   (Once Windows 95 starts you may be notified that no video device
  87.    exists, click Cancel if this message appears)

  89. 7) Windows 95 will detect a new VGA Compatible Display, you need to:
  90.      Windows 95 Standard Release users: Select "Use Driver from Mfr"
  91.                                         and click OK
  92.               Windows 95 OEM SR2 users: Click the Next Button on the
  93.                                         Detection Dialog Box

  95. 8) Insert this floppy in the A: drive and point the driver location to
  96.    A:\
  97. 9) You may then be prompted to insert the Windows 95 Alliance 3D+ Voodoo
  98.    Rush Driver Disk.  Again, enter A:\ and press OK.
  99. 10) Windows will copy the drivers from the Floppy, Reboot the system 
  100.     when prompted
  101. 11) After reboot, verify that Windows 95 runs.  If Windows 95 hangs, 
  102.     power the system off and verify that the Voodoo Rush Daughterboard
  103.     is installed correctly and is functioning.
  104. 12) Install DirectX 5.0.

  107. Limitations
  108. -----------

  110. Running 640x480,16 Color will run SUPERVGA.DRV or VGA.DRV.  No Voodoo 
  111. Rush features will be used.  Switch to a different resolution or color depth.
