  15. <p>     DIED. Thomas A. Dorsey, 93, songwriter, singer and pianist;
  16. in Chicago. Known as the father of gospel music, he brought a
  17. secular blues beat into the church. Among his songs were Peace
  18. in the Valley (which Elvis Presley covered), If You See My
  19. Saviour and Take My Hand, Precious Lord. His singing and sage
  20. commentary were high points in the acclaimed 1982 gospel
  21. documentary, Say Amen, Somebody.
