<p> DIED. JOHN REWALD, 81, historian of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist
art; in New York. Rewald wrote a richly detailed series of scholarly
classics that have served as foundation for the works of numerous
other researchers, historians and critics of late 19th and early
20th century art. His favorite subject was Cezanne, whose subject
matter he documented by photographing actual landscapes the
artist painted.
