Not One for The Gipper

By Emily Mitchell/Reported by Wendy Cole

Conspiracy, Central America and the CIA are serious
subjects, but former First Daughter Patti Davis isn't afraid to
tackle them -- fictitiously. She even "played around," says
Patti, "with ways I could sneak into Nicaragua" for research.
But "it would have been naive, because it was known that I
disagreed with my father's policy." Instead, Davis stayed home
in California to write her new novel, Deadfall. And what do
Ronald and Nancy Reagan think of a book that's hard on the U.S.
Government? Davis isn't sure they've read it, and doubts that
they'll be sending copies as Christmas presents.
