<p> Customs: A valid passport and confirmed onward ticket, but no
entry visa, are required. A tax of Solomon Islands $10 is
collected on departure. Travelers should check with the nearest
British Embassy or Consulate to determine the latest
requirements. Yellow fever and cholera immunizations are
required of those coming from infected areas. Health
requirements may change; check latest information.

<p> Climate and clothing: The climate is tropical monsoon.
Lightweight casual clothing is worn year round.
</p>
<p> Health: Health conditions in the Solomons are generally
adequate, and the country does not suffer from serious endemic
diseases other than malaria, in both the vivax and falsiparum
strains. Hospitals and pharmacies are limited to population
centers and missions. Malaria suppressants should be taken
before, during, and at least 2 weeks after a visit to the
Solomons.

<p> Transportation: Air Nauru, Air Niugini, and Air Pacific
connect Honiara with Auckland, Brisbane, Canberra, Kieta,
Melbourne, Nadi, Nauru, Port Moresby, Port Vila, and Suva.
Solair (Solomon Islands Airways) serves Kieta, Papua New
Guinea, and Port Vila and Espiritu Santu in Vanuatu, and has
scheduled services to all provincial centers in the country.
Taxis, rental cars, and a public bus service are available in
Honiara.
