  16. <p>     Customs: A valid passport and confirmed onward ticket, but no
  17. entry visa, are required. A tax of Solomon Islands $10 is
  18. collected on departure. Travelers should check with the nearest
  19. British Embassy or Consulate to determine the latest
  20. requirements. Yellow fever and cholera immunizations are
  21. required of those coming from infected areas. Health
  22. requirements may change; check latest information.

  24. <p>     Climate and clothing: The climate is tropical monsoon.
  25. Lightweight casual clothing is worn year round.
  26. </p>
  27. <p>     Health: Health conditions in the Solomons are generally
  28. adequate, and the country does not suffer from serious endemic
  29. diseases other than malaria, in both the vivax and falsiparum
  30. strains. Hospitals and pharmacies are limited to population
  31. centers and missions. Malaria suppressants should be taken
  32. before, during, and at least 2 weeks after a visit to the
  33. Solomons.

  35. <p>     Transportation: Air Nauru, Air Niugini, and Air Pacific
  36. connect Honiara with Auckland, Brisbane, Canberra, Kieta,
  37. Melbourne, Nadi, Nauru, Port Moresby, Port Vila, and Suva.
  38. Solair (Solomon Islands Airways) serves Kieta, Papua New
  39. Guinea, and Port Vila and Espiritu Santu in Vanuatu, and has
  40. scheduled services to all provincial centers in the country.
  41. Taxis, rental cars, and a public bus service are available in
  42. Honiara.
