  17. <p>The man charged with murdering two CIA employees may be in Pakistan
  18. </p>

  20. <p>     It was an audacious crime. On Jan. 25, someone shot and killed
  21. two Central Intelligence Agency employees literally at the gate
  22. of the agency's headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Who was the
  23. shooter? What was the motive? A breakthrough occurred when the
  24. roommate of 28-year-old Mir Aimal Kansi reported him missing.
  25. Kansi's Reston, Virginia, apartment was searched, a Chinese-made
  26. AK-47 was found, and FBI firearms experts concluded that it
  27. was the gun that fired cartridge casings recovered at the crime
  28. scene. Kansi was charged with capital murder and placed on the
  29. FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. Police had the weapon but needed
  30. the man. Where was Kansi?

  32. <p>     Perhaps in Pakistan. Kansi, a member of a wealthy Pakistani
  33. family, has reportedly been seen in his hometown of Quetta.
  34. "We're trying to confirm that he's there," says Fairfax County
  35. police department spokesperson Robert Wall. "Pakistani officials
  36. are cooperating in the fullest." Still, the question remains:
  37. If Kansi did commit the alleged crime, why? No explanation so
  38. far is satisfactory. Says Wall: "There are a million theories.
  39. They have to be checked one at a time." Law-enforcement officials
  40. may have to catch the man to find the motive.
