  1. Lords of Midnight Update 1 (9/6/95)
  2.  
  3. To install this update to Lords of Midnight copy the file lom1.exe
  4. into the game directory on your hard drive.  Type lom1 -d (make sure
  5. to have the -d option as part of what you type or the game will not update
  6. properly). The update will alter the necessary files.  Please note that
  7. once you have done this your old saved games will no longer be playable.
  8. You will need to restart.  The following changes/additions have been
  9. made to the game:
  10.  
  11. -The Heros/Villians screen has been reorganized.  Character portraits now
  12.  have the shield of the realm they are currently allied with appear behind
  13.  the face shot.  Also, the characters have been grouped into four different
  14.  categories: Heros, Villians, Neutral, and Dead.  As the status of characters
  15.  change during the game, so will the face move to the appropriate section.

  17. -The Golden Fey, who live on the island ruled by Galahar the Calm, have
  18.  been fleshed out to include a complete description of the race as well
  19.  as artwork.  They are also recruitable as warriors once Galahar has
  20.  joined the Alliance.
  21.  
  22. -Three new magical items have been added as well as complete descriptions
  23.  and artwork.  The items are:
  24.         Persuader-a magical axe that allows the wielder to recruit troops
  25.         from any good or neutral castle/citadel as if he or she were Lord of
  26.         that realm.  Note that the Lord can still only control one race at
  27.         a time so he/she will have to transfer all troops into a castle
  28.         if he/she has a army before he/she can take new troops from the
  29.         castle/citadel.
  30.         Skullcrusher-a magical axe that grants magical attack bonuses to
  31.         any Giant Lord who wields it.
  32.         Swiftwing-a magical sword that allows any character traveling alone
  33.         to never get tired. Note that traveling alone includes not having
  34.         any troops with you or any other Lords.
