2) Issues fixed with this patch:
More stable Network play.
Psuedo Dedicated Server option.
Bug fixes to main game (Graphical and Code).
Glide support bugs removed.
D3D Hardware bugs removed.
Bugs in Launcher programs removed.
3) Alterations to Network game.
The network game now has the following changes.
a) Ability to not set a time limit for game, this can be
used for running the game as a server. N.B. This may cause
problems on low memory PCs, 64MB recommended.
b) All players are the same colour in DeathMatch, so 'J'
(Lockon to nearest enemy target) can be used for locking
onto all players, instead of alternating the use of 'G' and 'J'
c) 'T' now used to talk to other players.
Usage: Press 'T' then type message, message will be sent once
RETURN is pressed.
NETWORK GAME LAUNCHER
A network game option for up to eight PC players designed using
Directplay to run on a local area network (LAN) such as an IPX
network, or using a TCP/IP connection or a modem link.
To play the network game, selecting NETWORK GAME from the Xenocracy
Launcher will open the network game launcher window with the
options Host Game, Join Game or Exit Game.
1. HOST GAME
One player (the 'host') sets up the multiplayer game by selecting
options from pulldown menu lists in the Host Game set-up window.
The host player enters their chosen Player Name and the Session
Name and manually selects the network protocol - IPX, TCP/IP
or serial; the game type - Deathmatch, Team Play or Base Defence
and the time limit for the game (minimum 2 minutes up to a
maximum of 20 minutes).
By setting the time 0 minutes will make the game play for an unlimited
amount of time.
DEATHMATCH
Up to eight PC players compete against each other for the most
kills. Once killed, players will be regenerated at random
locations and the game ends when the time limit that has been set
is reached.
TEAMPLAY
Up to eight players fight on one of two sides (Red or Blue) and
the team with the most kills wins. Once killed, players will be
regenerated at random locations and the game ends when the time
limit that has been set is reached.
BASE DEFENCE
Up to eight players fight on one of two sides as in the Teamplay
game, except teams must attempt to destroy their opponents base
while defending their own. Once killed, players will be
regenerated at random locations and the game ends when one of the
bases is destroyed.
