OVERVIEW
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a number of software installations and un-installations, the registry
becomes full of nagging file references pointing to where the files used
to reside but no longer exist. Registry First Aid will find any files
and folders that may have been moved on your hard drive and help you
correct the registry entries that point to them.
Registry First Aid scans the registry for orphan file/folder references,
invalid font references, obsolete Start Menu items, invalid fonts,
shared DLLs, application paths and more...
Registry First Aid finds referenced files, folders or fonts on your drives
(if they're moved from initial locations) and corrects registry entries
to located objects. Also, if your registry still retains links to file(s)
of deleted applications, Registry First Aid will find these invalid entries
and you might want to delete them. With this powerful tool, your Windows«
registry will always be clean and correct.
Registry First Aid allows you to:
- find and correct invalid file/folder references in
Windows« 9x/NT/ME/2000/XP/2003 registry;
- find and correct invalid font entries;
- find and delete obsolete Start Menu items;
- find and correct invalid application paths;
- find and correct invalid registered help files;
- find and correct invalid shared DLLs references;
- find and correct invalid program references in auto run registry keys;
- find and delete obsolete and unused software registry entries;
- find and correct invalid known DLLs registry references;
- search matches for invalid entries on user's computer;
- open folder where an invalid registry key refers;
- open RegEdit at an invalid registry entry;
- create full registry backups before any changes,
so you are always able to restore your Windows« registry to it's
initial state;
- create small registry backups of modified registry entries,
so you are always able to restore only modified entries;
- restore any particular modified registry entry to it's initial state;
- search for a modified registry entry in all backup files;
- save list of found invalid entries into text file;
- print list of found invalid entries;
- schedule automatic registry scan;

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To run the software, your system must meet the following requirements:
* Windows« 98/ME, Windows« NT 4.0/2000/XP/2003 or later;
* About 2 Mb of free space on your hard drive;
* 32 Mb of RAM or more;
* Under Windows 95/NT4 the program requires Internet Explorer 4
integrated shell libraries (active desktop) installed prior to any
later IE version;
* Some knowledge of the registry :).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To install the software, do the following steps:
* Quit the already running version of the program, if any;
* Unzip the new software package file into temporary directory, if it's
zipped;
* Run EXE file;
* Follow the prompts.
If you have a previous version of the program, you may install
the new version into the same folder. The installation will
upgrade all old program files and keep all your backup files and
the program settings.
Some of anti-virus software may report a key logger virus in AgentH.dll
file. This is due to pure virus detections scheme. AgentH.dll does NOT
contain any virus or trojan code. It has a call to Windows API function
that helps to detect user inactivity. RFA shows friendly notifications
only when user computer is in idle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPGRADING
------------------------------------------------------------------------
You do not have to uninstall a previous version before installing a new one.
You may install the new version into the same folder as before. Then
the installation will upgrade all old program files and keep all your
backup files.
Follow the installation instructions above.
If you are a registered user then installing a new version over the existing
one will keep your license key. This works for all builds of a same major
version, i.e. for versions from 3.0.0 to 3.9.9, from 4.0.0 to 4.9.9, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------
KNOWN PROBLEMS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some Windows« 98 SE systems hung after running the program.
Sometimes a Kernel32.dll error appears.
This means that an anti-virus or fire-wall software program has replaced one
or more of system DLLs that prevents the program from correctly using some
system functions. It is very hard to find out what software changed system
libraries. We keep working to find all incompatibilities with other programs.
