  16. Installation
  17. ------------

  19. Methods of installation vary depending on where you got this software from.
  20. If installation instructions have been provided separately, please follow
  21. them. 
  22. If you downloaded this software from an on-line service you should unzip
  23. any .ZIP files into a new directory (eg. KITHKIN) on your hard disk.
  24.  
  25. Run KITHKIN.EXE from the File Manager or create a new program item in the
  26. Program Manager and double click on the Kith and Kin icon.
  27. You can launch Kith and Kin from a Tree File (.TRE) if you have associated
  28. .TRE files with KITHKIN.EXE in the File Manager.
  29. The program (.EXE), help (.HLP) and options (.OPT/.INI) files must all
  30. reside in the same directory.

  32. The files BWCC.DLL and SS_DATE.DLL should reside in either the KITHKIN or
  33. WINDOWS\SYSTEM directories or in another directory in your PATH. Since
  34. BWCC.DLL is a common DLL you may already have it on your system in which
  35. case you need only one copy available. Make sure that the copies you have
  36. on your system are the same version as those on the release disk.

  111. This product is SHAREWARE. The version on this release disk is a fully
  112. functional evaluation copy which you may install and use free of charge
  113. for 30 days. After that time, if you wish to continue using the program you
  114. must become a registered user. Details of how to register are available in
  115. the on-line help.
  116. If you have been using an earlier version of Kith and Kin some of your tree
  117. (.TRE) and options (.OPT/.INI) files may require conversion before they can
  118. be used with this version. A data file conversion program is included with
  119. all registered versions of Kith and Kin.

  134. To get you off to a flying start using Kith and Kin, read the help topic
  135. "Getting Started". This will lead you through the basics.

  137. The KITHKIN.HLP help file is a complete on-line manual for Kith and Kin. As
  138. well as providing context-sensitive help direct from Kith and Kin, it
  139. contains all the technical information about the program, usage tips and
  140. details on how to register in an easy-to-use format. Please make extensive
  141. use of it, you will find it very useful.

  143. The file KITHKIN.TXT is an extract of KITHKIN.HLP in text format which you
  144. may send straight to your printer. For example, you can do this in DOS using
  145. the command "type kithkin.txt > prn".
