  20. The product
  21. -----------
  22. Kith and Kin is a software package for documenting and storing family trees
  23. which will appeal to genealogists, family historians and anyone interested
  24. in researching and documenting family history. It features an easy to use
  25. graphical interface and powerful multi-level editing tools which makes it
  26. ideal for both large and small trees. The program supports date and place
  27. of births, marriages and deaths as well as multiple marriages and aliases
  28. for each person. Pictures, diagrams, sounds, etc may be embedded in or
  29. linked to a person or family. A printed book can be produced with family
  30. group details (which may incorporate pictures and diagrams) and a complete,
  31. cross-referenced index to names and families. The user has control over the
  32. formatting and extent of all printed reports which also include tree layout,
  33. descendant tree, ancestral tree and person details. Compatibility with
  34. "Personal Ancestral File" GEDCOM files means the user can export and import
  35. data to and from other genealogy programs.

  67. The program is simple to use and anyone familiar with Windows will quickly
  68. learn to control the following features.

  71.    access to editing. Also has zoom, goto and block move features.
  72.  > Multi-level editing means the user can traverse the tree while editing
  73.    and adding people and families.

  76.  > Two user-defined fields for each person plus the option of GEDCOM I/O

  177. functional evaluation copy which you may install and use free of charge
  178. for 30 days. After that time, if you wish to continue using the program you
  179. must become a registered user. Details of how to register are available in
  180. the on-line help.
  181. If you have been using an earlier version of Kith and Kin some of your tree
  182. (.TRE) and options (.OPT/.INI) files may require conversion before they can
  183. be used with this version. A data file conversion program is included with
  184. all registered versions of Kith and Kin.

  197. ------------
  198. This product is SHAREWARE. The version on this release disk is a fully
  199. functional evaluation copy which the user may install and use free of charge
  200. for 30 days. After that time, if the user wishes to continue use, a fixed
  201. registration fee of 28 Pounds Sterling is payable to us.
  202. Registration reminder screens are used in the program, increasing in
  203. severity when 30 days have passed.
  204. Upon registration the user becomes entitled to the registered version of the
  205. software, telephone support and notification of new releases. Registered
  206. users may upgrade to future versions at a discount.
  207. The registered version has been optimised by removing the registration
  208. reminder coding.
  209. A data file conversion program which will convert tree (.TRE) and options 
  210. (.OPT) files created by earlier versions of Kith and Kin so that they can be
  211. used with the latest release is provided with all registered versions of the
  212. software.
