---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing CD-Runner
1. Review the System Requirements(sysreq.txt) to ensure that your system
is compatible with this product.
2. Copy the CD-Runner download file into an empty installation directory
(such as C:\TEMP) and unzip. NOTE: Make sure that your temporary
installation directory name does NOT include wildcards or special
characters!
3. From the Windows Explorer or File Manager run setup.exe.
4. You may delete the installation files upon completion of setup.
HINT: If you load a CD-ROM (NOT Audio disc) in your drive(s) before
installing CD-Runner, the Setup will automatically choose your drive
letter(s)!
HELP!!!
Once you've entered the CD-Runner program, screen-sensitive Help is
available at all times by pressing F1. Both a mouse-sensitive graphic
screen with brief text pop-ups, as well as detailed information will be
displayed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cool Tips!!!
#1 Mouse! CD-Runner makes maximum possible use of your mouse. Displays are
LOADED with 'hot spots', which when either right- or left-clicked do
all kinds of fun things(which are also available via menus). Feel free to
play. To guide you, note that your mouse pointer will change shape whenever
you guide it over a hot spot.
#2 Audio CDs - Quick Editing: For quick and easy entering of audio CD
library info, without having to place the CD in the drive for editing:
* Place the CD in the drive with CD-Runner loaded.
* Using the Library button, enter the album name into the library.
* You can now go back to the library at any time and enter additional
album info, without having to enter the CD in the drive.
#3 CD-ROMs - Clear you Windows Desktop: For any CD-ROM applications
registered in the CD-Runner Library, any Windows Program Groups or icons
associated with the programs may be deleted as CD-Runner will automatically
identify and launch your CD. Why clutter up your desktop?
Note: When entering a new CD-ROM that you may already have installed to
your hard drive, it isn't necessary to run the "Install CD-ROM" utility.
Instead, use the "CD-ROM Library" to locate the program on your hard drive
and enter it into the database.
#4 Palette Size? Those of us who run CD-ROM games and Enhanced Video CDs
have long chaffed at having to reset our screen displays to 256-color
640x480. CD-Runner has a built-in option for playing Enhanced CDs as
stand-alone multimedia files without having to change screen modes. For
gaming, Microsoft has developed a nifty utility called SetRes which loads
to your System Tray and makes this changeover at a single touch. This one
is worth having, and can be downloaded from the Microsoft libraries on
CompuServe and Internet.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Internet & CD-Runner - Sing While You Surf!
Simply load your favorite CD of the day & launch. The CD-Runner faceplates
have an Internet launch button in the upper right-hand corner. (This is
linked to your system's default browser, or can be customised in Setup.)
One click launches your your net browser! Then you're off to surf, with your
music running in the background. You can also launch internet via the WWW
Desktop in the CD-Runner Main Menu.
WinCIM Users: In the CD-Runner Advanced Section of Setup, you may set your
default browser to WinCIM! In your Windows directory locate 'gocserve.exe'
and set this as your browser. This will launch WinCIM, and if you're
currently configured to run WinCIM via winsock.dll, will also launch Mosaic
and take you to the sites listed on the menu. (Note: Not all versions of
Mosaic are 100% compatible with all sites. The difference is in cosmetics,
not function.)
If your WinCIM is not configured for winsock.dll, then whatever may be set
as your active session will be launched. Many CompuServe CBers prefer to
load their music and launch WinCIM this way.
