  2. MrED installation guide

  5. Installation of MrED is an easy job!
  6.  
  7. 1. copy the executable (med.exe) to a directory thats in your path.
  8.  
  9. 2. copy the help file (med.hlp) to a directory thats in your help-path.
  10.  
  11. 3. create a directory, where MrED can store his configuration files.
  12.    If you create this directory in the directory where you have placed
  13.    "med.exe", then you should name it "med". In this case, you *DON'T*
  14.    have to set the environment varible MISTER_ED_PATH. Goto step 5.
  15.  
  16. 4. add the environment variable MISTER_ED_PATH to your config.sys.
  17.    This variable must point to the directory where MrED stores his
  18.    configuartion files (you created this dir in step 3).
  19.    (example:  set MISTER_ED_PATH=e:\usr\app\med )
  20.  
  21. 5. a. copy the file "med.syn" to the directory that you created in step 3.
  22.       Without this file, MrED can not do syntax-highlighting.
  23.  
  24.    b. copy the file "med.kbd" to the directory that you created in step 3.
  25.       This ASCII file contains the keyboard configuration.
  26.  
  27.    c. copy the file "med.tlb" to the directory that you created in step 3.
  28.       This ASCII file contains the toolbar configuration.
  29.  
  30.    c. copy the subdirectory "med-bmp" to the directory that you created
  31.       in step 3. This directory contains additional toolbar bitmaps.
  32.  
  33. 6. check if your config.sys contains the environment variable TMP (or TEMP).
  34.    If not create a temp directory and initialize the TMP variable in the
  35.    config.sys.
  36.  
  37. 7. If you have modified config.sys, shutdown the system and reboot.

  39. 8. Enjoy!
