  38.     The Exoplex Intranet Publisher (v0.40) requires Windows 95 or
  39.     Windows NT (v4.0+).  This product is best suited to small
  40.     groups with access to a local area network (LAN) and a
  41.     traditional web browser that supports long file names.  The
  42.     intranet (HTML) documents generated by the Exoplex Intranet
  43.     Publisher are designed to take advantage of frames when 
  44.     viewed with a web browser that supports frames.

  62.         - Directories are automatically indexed for display (using
  63.           a Java Applet) in  the HTML documents generated by the 
  64.           Exoplex Intranet Publisher.

  67.           from within an Exoplex Topic.  The Copy Folder,
  68.           Link Files, and Link Folder commands were added
  69.           to the Edit menu to facilitate the insertion of external

  98. *** Installation Instructions ***
  99.  
  100.     If you received this version of the Exoplex Intranet Publisher
  101.     on a floppy disk please follow the instructions on the disk 
  102.     label to install the Exoplex Intranet Publisher.
  103.  
  104.     If you received this version of the Exoplex Intranet Publisher
  105.     in a ZIP file (for example, exoip032.zip), you can install it 
  106.     as follows:
  107.  
  108.     * Place the ZIP file in an empty folder (e.g., C:\INSTALL) and 
  109.       unpack it using a ZIP utility such as PKUNZIP or WinZip.  
  110.  
  111.     * Select Run from the Taskbar Start menu, type
  112.       the full name of the file (e.g.,  C:\INSTALL\Setup.exe),
  113.       press the Enter key, and follow the prompts.
  114.  
  115.     The folder in which the ZIP file was unpacked may be deleted once 
  116.     the installation process is complete.

  118. *** Upgrade Instructions ***
  119.  
  120.     Follow the installation instructions above.  You can install
  121.     this version of the Exoplex Intranet Publisher to the same 
  122.     location as a previously installed copy of the Exoplex Intranet
  123.     Publisher.  The upgrade will automatically be distributed to
  124.     any other Exoplex Libraries you have created as you publish
  125.     Topics to these libraries.  The Exoplex Browser (v0.40) supports
  126.     all previous versions of the Exoplex Library (v0.2x an v0.3x).

  128.     If version 0.40 is installed over version 0.2, the file
  129.     association for the "Exoplex Library" ("*.exo" files) will be
  130.     removed.  Version 0.40 of the Exoplex Browser does not support 
  131.     activation through the "*.exo" file association.  Open the
  132.     Start/Programs menu and select the item titled "Exoplex
  133.     Intranet Publisher" to activate the Exoplex Browser.

  145.     Note that the "Styles" and the "Template" associated with the 
  146.     Exoplex Library and the Exoplex Browser may be updated when 
  147.     you upgrade to a new version of the Exoplex Intranet Publisher.  
  148.     If you have modified the "Styles" or the "Templates" for these
  149.     Topics, you should de-select the "Templates and Styles" for 
  150.     these Topics during the installation process.

  152.     While the "Styles" and the "Template" associated with other
  153.     Topics are not updated when you upgrade, you may propagate the 
  154.     updated "Styles" and "Templates" to other Topics by using the
  155.     "UpdateTemplate" command followed by the "UpdateStyles" command.

  158. *** Uninstall Instructions ***
  159.  
  160.     1. Close all active copies of the Exoplex Browser.  From the 
  161.       control panel, select the "Add/Remove Programs" feature.  
  162.       Double click on the entry titled "Exoplex Intranet Publisher",
  163.       and follow the prompts.  DO NOT REMOVE any of the shared 
  164.       files unless you are CERTAIN that they are not required by any 
  165.       other programs.  You may be required to reinstall Windows 95 
  166.       if you remove the shared files "ctl3d32.dll" or "Comctl32.dll".
  167.  
  168.     2. Once the "Add/Remove" uninstall process is complete, it is 
  169.       safe to delete the remaining portions of the Exoplex Libraries
  170.       using Microsoft's Windows Explorer.  If you wish to keep any
  171.       of the files that were contained within Exoplex Topics, make
  172.       sure that you copy the files to an alternate directory before
  173.       you delete the remaining portions of the Exoplex Libraries.

  175.     * If you delete the Exoplex Libraries before running the 
  176.       "Add/Remove" uninstall process, you should re-install the 
  177.       Exoplex Intranet Publisher and execute the above uninstall 
  178.       procedure.

  192. *** Microsoft Windows 95 *.dll's ***

  194.     During the installation process for Windows 95 the following 
  195.     Microsoft/Windows *.dll's will be updated (if required):  
  196.  
  197.     ctl3d32.dll    * 3D controls support DLL (v2.31).
  198.     Comctl32.dll   * Windows 95 common controls (v4.70).
  199.     mfc42.dll      * Microsoft Foundation Classes (v4.21.7303).
  200.     Msvcrt.dll     * Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library (v5.00.7303).

  202.     These *.dll's are found in the System directory (e.g. 
  203.     c:/Windows/System).  The *.dll's "ctl3d32.dll" and "Comctl32.dll"
  204.     are updated due to compatibility problems between some older
  205.     versions of these *.dll's and the Visual C++ libraries.

  209.     During the installation process for Windows NT the following 
  210.     Microsoft/Windows *.dll's will be updated (if required):

  213.     Msvcrt.dll     * Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library (v5.00.7303).

  215.     These *.dll's are found in the System directory (e.g. 
  216.     c:/Winnt/System32).

  218. *** Windows 95/NT Registry Entries and the Start Menu ***
  219.  
  220.     This shareware version (0.40) of the Exoplex Intranet Publisher
  221.     has been modified to make a minimum number of modifications to 
  222.     the Windows 95/NT registries.  During the installation and 
  223.     execution of the Exoplex Intranet Publisher, the following 
  224.     modifications will be made to the Windows 95/NT registries and 
  225.     to the Start menu:
  226.  
  227.     * A link is added to the "Start/Programs" menu for the Exoplex
  228.       Intranet Publisher.  The link may be moved to a sub-menu since
  229.       the uninstall process will search for the link.  Please note,
  230.       however, that even though the link has been removed, it may 
  231.       still show up on the sub-menu until the system is shut down 
  232.       and restarted.

  239.     * An entry is made in the registry so that the "Add/Remove 
  240.       Programs" feature may be used to uninstall the Exoplex 
  241.       Intranet Publisher.  This registry entry is made under the 
  242.       following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE
  243.       /Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall
  244.       /Exoplex Intranet Publisher"

  246.     * An entry is made for the Exoplex Intranet Publisher under 
  247.       the registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Exoplex".  
  248.       This entry is made by "InstallShield 5 Professional".

  250.     * Several entries are made under the registry key:
  251.       "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Exoplex.Library".  These entries record 
  252.       the location and the unique identifier for the Exoplex 
  253.       Library that contains the last installed version of the 
  254.       Exoplex Browser.

  256.     The above entries will all be removed during the uninstall 
  257.     process as initiated through the Windows 95/NT "Add/Remove 
  258.     Programs" feature.  The following entries will persist (unless 
  259.     manually removed) after the Exoplex Intranet Publisher is 
  260.     uninstalled.

  262.     * Several entries are made in the registry to hold the most 
  263.       recent file list, and to hold author details (author, 
  264.       company, address, and email).  These entries are made under 
  265.       the registry key: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Exoplex
  266.       /Exoplex Browser".  These entries would be difficult to 
  267.       remove since there may be multiple user configurations 
  268.       defined on any single machine.

  270.     If you are upgrading from version 0.2, the registry entries
  271.     created during the installation of version 0.2 will remain 
  272.     valid.  All of the registry entries created for prior versions 
  273.     and for version 0.40 (except as noted above) will be removed 
  274.     when version 0.40 is uninstalled.

  335.     The current release of the Exoplex Intranet Publisher (version 
  336.     0.40) is distributed by Exoplex as shareware.  The End User 
  337.     License Agreement ("EULA") associated with the Exoplex Intranet 
  338.     Publisher allows an individual to use the product on a single 
  339.     computer for a thirty (30) day evaluation period to evaluate 
  340.     the product for subsequent purchase.  Registered users may 
  341.     continue to use the Exoplex Intranet Publisher beyond the 
  342.     thirty (30) day evaluation period.  You will be considered a
  343.     registered user of version 0.40 if you have registered any prior 
  344.     version or if you register version 0.40 by sending a US$39.95 
  345.     registration fee (Check drawn on a US or Australian bank, or 
  346.     credit card details for a Visa, Mastercard, Bankcard, or AMEX

  386.     reported within three months of registration, any applicable 
  387.     registration fees will be refunded.
