- Araxis PMdiff Version 4.0 Release Notes (Win32 Version)
- 18 September 1996
-
- ______________
- IMPORTANT NOTE
-
- PMdiff 4.0 is a real 32 bit multithreaded application,
- through and through. It is intended for Windows 95,
- Windows NT 4.0 and IBM OS/2 Warp 3.0.
-
- PMdiff will _NOT_ run on Windows 3.x or IBM OS/2 2.x.
- You _MIGHT_ be able to run PMdiff on Windows NT 3.51,
- but we have not tested on that platform and don't
- support it.
-
- ____________
- INTRODUCTION
-
- PMdiff is a graphical file comparison application. It works the
- way you work. Visually. Files are displayed side by side.
- Differences are highlighted and lines are drawn showing how the
- files are related.
-
- PMdiff allows you to select individual changes between two
- versions of a file, and save the resulting merged file.
-
- PMdiff is highly configurable. Fonts and colours and other
- settings can be altered to show changes in a way that suits
- you. Check out the friendly on-line help for details.
-
- PMdiff for Windows 95 and Windows NT lets you compare entire
- folder (directory) trees. You can quickly compare all the
- files in two different directories that are different. Ideal
- for team-working!
-
- PMdiff is available for Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0
- and IBM OS/2 Warp version 3.0.
-
- ____________
- INSTALLATION
-
- Run the installation program, setup.exe, supplied with the
- package. You can install from floppy or hard disk.
- Alternatively, use the Add/Remove Programs object in the
- Control Panel.
-
- Should you wish to uninstall PMdiff, you can use the
- uninstall facility available from the Add/Remove Programs
- object.
-
- _____________
- GENERAL NOTES
-
- Two pairs of (small!) sample files are provided with PMdiff.
- These are installed to the PMdiff installation directory.
-
- The files are:
-
- hippo1.txt, hippo2.txt
- and mary1.txt, mary2.txt
-
- You may wish to try comparing these.

- EVALUATION VERSION
-
- PMdiff is the result of many months of dedicated development
- effort. It exists in evaluation and registered versions.
-
- The two version are identical, except that the evaluation
- version pops up a registration reminder message box when PMdiff
- starts and when it terminates. In addition, the evaluation
- version does not store properties between PMdiff sessions, and
- won't save merged files.
-
- You may distribute the evaluation version freely, and use it
- for up to 21 days. If you find it useful and wish to
- continue using it after the 21 evaluation period then you
- are _LEGALLY REQUIRED_ to register it. This won't cost you
- much, and will gain you
-
- * the latest licensed version (on disk if you wish)
- * free support via e-mail
- * the satisfaction of supporting good OS/2 and NT software
- * a clean conscience
-
- Registration is easy. You can order on-line via the Internet (see
- http://www.bmtmicro.com), by e-mail, by fax, by phone or by
- ordinary mail. You can use your credit card. See 'How to register
- and receive support' in the on-line help for more details about
- registration. You may like to use the text file orderfrm.txt to
- help you place your order.
-
- ________________
- LICENSED VERSION
-
- You may install the licensed version on several machines.
- However, you must ensure that only the number of copies
- purchased are in use at any given time.
-
- For example, perhaps you have bought only one copy. You can
- install it on your desktop office machine, and your laptop. Even
- your home machine. But you must guarantee that there is no
- possibility of PMdiff being run on more than one of the machines
- at any given time.
-
- __________
- TRADEMARKS
