  6. IMPORTANT NOTE

  8. PMdiff 4.0 is a real 32 bit multithreaded application,
  9. through and through. It is intended for Windows 95,
  10. Windows NT 4.0 and IBM OS/2 Warp 3.0.

  12. PMdiff will _NOT_ run on Windows 3.x or IBM OS/2 2.x.
  13. You _MIGHT_ be able to run PMdiff on Windows NT 3.51,
  14. but we have not tested on that platform and don't
  15. support it.

  18. INTRODUCTION
  19.  
  20. PMdiff is a graphical file comparison application.  It works the
  21. way you work. Visually. Files are displayed side by side. 
  22. Differences are highlighted and lines are drawn showing how the
  23. files are related.

  25. PMdiff allows you to select individual changes between two
  26. versions of a file, and save the resulting merged file.
  27.  
  28. PMdiff is highly configurable.  Fonts and colours and other
  29. settings can be altered to show changes in a way that suits
  30. you.  Check out the friendly on-line help for details.

  32. PMdiff for Windows 95 and Windows NT lets you compare entire
  33. folder (directory) trees. You can quickly compare all the
  34. files in two different directories that are different. Ideal
  35. for team-working!

  37. PMdiff is available for Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0
  38. and IBM OS/2 Warp version 3.0.

  41. INSTALLATION
  42.  
  43. Run the installation program, setup.exe, supplied with the 
  44. package. You can install from floppy or hard disk.
  45. Alternatively, use the Add/Remove Programs object in the
  46. Control Panel.

  48. Should you wish to uninstall PMdiff, you can use the
  49. uninstall facility available from the Add/Remove Programs
  50. object.

  53. GENERAL NOTES
  54.  
  55. Two pairs of (small!) sample files are provided with PMdiff.
  56. These are installed to the PMdiff installation directory.

  58. The files are:

  60.       hippo1.txt, hippo2.txt
  61.   and mary1.txt, mary2.txt
  62.  
  63. You may wish to try comparing these.

  66. EVALUATION VERSION
  67.  
  68. PMdiff is the result of many months of dedicated development
  69. effort. It exists in evaluation and registered versions.
  70.  
  71. The two version are identical, except that the evaluation
  72. version pops up a registration reminder message box when PMdiff
  73. starts and when it terminates. In addition, the evaluation
  74. version does not store properties between PMdiff sessions, and
  75. won't save merged files.
  76.  
  77. You may distribute the evaluation version freely, and use it
  78. for up to 21 days. If you find it useful and wish to
  79. continue using it after the 21 evaluation period then you
  80. are _LEGALLY REQUIRED_ to register it. This won't cost you 
  81. much, and will gain you

  83.     * the latest licensed version (on disk if you wish)
  84.     * free support via e-mail
  85.     * the satisfaction of supporting good OS/2 and NT software
  86.     * a clean conscience

  90. ordinary mail. You can use your credit card. See 'How to register

  96. LICENSED VERSION

  98. You may install the licensed version on several machines.
  99. However, you must ensure that only the number of copies
  100. purchased are in use at any given time.

  102. For example, perhaps you have bought only one copy. You can
  103. install it on your desktop office machine, and your laptop. Even
  104. your home machine. But you must guarantee that there is no
  105. possibility of PMdiff being run on more than one of the machines
  106. at any given time.
