  1.                     The HTML Reference Library v1.0f

  4.   Welcome to the HTML Reference Library, your one-stop, on-line guide
  5. to HTML mark-up elements, their uses, meaning and syntax.
  6.  
  7.   While this document is, at the time of release, up-to-date with all
  8. HTML elements that are currently supported, I make no promises that it 
  9. will remain current in say, 6 months.  All I can say is that as new
  10. elements are supported, or when the official HTML level 3.0 spec. is
  11. released, it will be included in the reference.
  12.  
  13.   I ask nothing more than a quick e-mail to tell me what you think of
  14. the reference.  Was it worthwhile? Is it useful?  Call it e-mailware,
  15. or responseware.
  16.   
  17.   While there is no new information in this release of the reference, 
  18. there are a few aesthetic changes (see below).  I decided to release it
  19. as I'm switching over to the joys of Windows '95 soon and so wanted to
  20. get some outstanding projects cleared up before such a major change.
  21.  
  22.   Many thanks to all the people who have commented on the reference.
  23. It is only with such comments that I know what to try and add for future
  24. versions.

  40.   The first site is the primary distribuition site.  Files kept there are updated by
  41. me personally.  The other sites are 'mirror' sites, and may lag a few days in 
  42. holding the actual file after release notes have been issued.
  43.   Release notes are posted to everybody on the mailing list (to subscribe, mail me
  44. cmlehunt@swan.ac.uk and let me know - this is NOT an autoreplier) and will be
  45. posted to comp.infosystems.www.users/misc/authoring.html and possibly others.

  47.   To install :
  48.   ------------
  49.   1) Unzip the archive into any directory you want.
  50.   2) The HLP file can be run by double-clicking it in the File Manager,
  51.      or an icon can be set up in a group.  If you don't know how to do
  52.      this then I suggest reading your Micorosoft Windows manual.

  55.   Known Installation problems
  56.   ---------------------------
  57.   For the HLP file to work, WINHELP.EXE must be installed.  If you can access Help
  58. on any other Windows applications it is already installed.  If not, please refer to 
  59. your Windows documentation on installing Windows components.
  60.   If double clicking on the icon produces a message saying 'There is no application
  61. associated with this file', the association needs to be set.  Highlight HTML.HLP
  62. in the File Manager, then choose Associate from the File Menu.  If 'Windows Help
  63. WINHELP.EXE' is not there, simply type WINHELP.EXE in the appropriate box.  Click
  64. on OK, then double clicking the icon should work.

  81.        too long to fit on one screen have an attribute list in the non-scrolling 
  82.        region, so the user can check they're on the right page.

  84.        NOTE : Versions 1.0c and 1.0d were not released publicly.  They were just
  85.        interim versions in which I used to add aesthetic changes.

  96.   This reference is supplied 'as is'.  I take no responsibility
  97. if it breaks your system, or crashes Windows.  It's only a Windows
  98. Help file...it shouldn't do anything stupid.  But if it does, it's
