- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Introduction ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
-
-
- The Filing Cabinet Loader for CIM for OS/2 allows you to convert filing
- cabinets created with versions of the CompuServe Information Manager for
- Windows and CompuServe Navigator - Windows Version prior to V2.0.
-
- The icon shown immediately above allows you to store notes about the Filing
- Cabinet Loader Utility. To access the notes feature, simply double click the
- notes icon when it is displayed at the bottom of a help panel. The first time
- you save notes, you will be prompted to associate a filetype with your notes.
- Simply select Plain Text.
-
- The notes feature uses the OS/2 E Editor. For more information on using the E
- Editor, consult your OS/2 user documentation.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Filing Cabinet Directory Settings ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- There are two user configurable directory settings available in the Filing
- Cabinet Loader Utility. The settings available are:
-
- o The old filing cabinet directory allows you to select the location of the
- filing cabinet that you wish to convert to the new filing cabinet format.
-
- o The new filing cabinet directory allows you to select the location of the new
- filing cabinet into which you will be importing the old filing cabinet
- entries.
-
- Example
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2. Loader Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Three options are available from the Filing Cabinet Loader main dialog.
-
- o Selecting Delete original file(s) will delete the old filing cabinet entries
- after they have been imported into the new filing cabinet. This helps to
- conserve space on your disk drive.
-
- CAUTION:
- This option should be exercised with care. Make sure that you have backed up
- your old filing cabinet before importing it with this option selected.
-
- o Selecting Log transactions to text file will generate a text file containing
- a record of the activities performed by the loader utility. The file is saved
- as FCLOADER.LOG in the new filing cabinet directory.
-
- o Selecting Index records upon completion will force the loader utility to
- re-index the entire new filing cabinet. This is necessary should you wish to
- perform full text searches upon completion of the import.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.3. Duplicate Record Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The Duplicate Records options allow you to control how records are handled if
- they already exist in the target filing cabinet. Duplicate records could occur
- if you attempt to import the same filing cabinet twice.
-
- o Selecting Prompt will cause the loader to prompt you as to whether a detected
- duplicate record should be added or skipped.
-
- o Add All will force the loader to add records even if they already exist in
- the target filing cabinet. This will result in multiple copies of the same
- entry in the new filing cabinet.
-
- o Skip All will cause the loader to ignore any entries in the source cabinet
- that it detects as already being in the target filing cabinet.

-
- Example 1 If you had installed WinCIM or DOSCIM to their default destination,
- your old filing cabinet directory would be C:\CSERVE\FCABINET .
-
- Example 2 If you did not use the default installation directory when you
- originally installed WinCIM or DOSCIM, you must specify the full path to your
- old filing cabinet directory, generally named FCABINET.
-
- Assume that WinCIM had been installed in D:\TELECOM\CIS. The old filing cabinet
- directory for the loader would be D:\TELECOM\CIS\FCABINET
