- Introduction:
- =============
- Thank you for your interest in the CompuServe Information Manager(tm) for
- OS/2 - CIM for OS/2 (tm).
-
- A rich context-sensitive Help feature can be accessed from any area of CIM
- for OS/2 by hitting the F1 key or by selecting the Help icon on the
- ribbon bar.
-
- You can obtain information on the current status of CIM for OS/2 and
- additional release information by accessing the GO OS2CIM area on CompuServe.
-
- You can also obtain help and support through the CIM for OS/2 Support Forum
- (GO OCIMSUPPORT). This forum is devoted to CIM for OS/2 and is staffed by
- representatives from CompuServe's Customer Service department. This area is
- also free of connect charges.
-
- Release Notes:
- ==============
- The new filing cabinet provided in this release of CIM for OS/2 contains a
- full-text search option and stores the records in a database type format.
- The full-text searching can be accessed by selecting Mail > Search Filing
- cabinet from the pull-down menu.
-
- CIM for OS/2 may not correctly display extended characters stored by a
- previous version of CIM due to the Latin-1 support provided in OS/2
- (examples : å ë í " ù ). CIM for OS/2 stores all information locally
- using the local Latin-1 code page. Since the Windows and OS/2 code pages
- differ slightly, some extended characters may not appear correctly when
- using files created by other CIM products. This will affect all support
- file including the filing cabinet and address book.
-
- Filing Cabinet Loader (FCLOADER):
- =================================
-
- This is a utility program that can import a WinCIM, DOSCIM, or CSNav style
- filing cabinet to a full-text searchable database filing cabinet. The new
- filing cabinet is contained in two files; FCABINET.CIF and FOLDERS.DAT.
- FOLDERS.DAT contains the names of all of your folders. FCABINET.CIF holds
- all of the messages that you store in the filing cabinet. WinCIM, DOSCIM and
- CSNav will still be able to read their filing cabinets, but will not be able
- to read CIM for OS/2's filing cabinet. The installation procedure shall
- prompt you to import your filing cabinet if no FCABINET.CIF file was located
- in your filing cabinet directory in the install location.
-
- If you were not given the opportunity to import WinCIM, DOSCIM, or CSNav
- filing cabinets during the installation process, you may do so later by
- manually running the FCLOADER utility.
-
-
- Known Problems:
- ===============
- During the final review of CIM for OS/2, we have uncovered a few minor
- problems that we hope will not affect your enjoyment of the product.
-
- They are as follows:
-
- o When retrieving large volumes of forum messages, the section count will
- reset to one when CIM for OS/2 fetches more message summaries from the
- host. This is only a cosmetic issue and all of the marked messages will
- be retrieved.
-
- o There are some cases when you select to delete a forum message while in
- particular forum that CIM for OS/2 will delete the message locally from
- the filing cabinet instead of from the CompuServe host. If you re-enter
- the forum and select to delete the message again, it will properly be
- deleted from the host.
-
- o Setting the message date back in a forum after reading all of your
- waiting messages will not properly disable the waiting messages icon.
-
- o Viewing a GIF file from your hard drive while in some areas (ie. Maps)
- will cause the send/receive lights to appear unnecessarily.
-
- o Canceling a Membership Sign-up will cause the billing type field to revert
- back to VISA.
-
- If you encounter any other problems, please let us know by posting a forum
- message addressed to SYSOP in the CIM for OS/2 Support Forum (GO OCIMSUPPORT).
- This area is free of connect charges.
