computer. These files are the ones that make things happen by COMmanding
or EXEcuting an application.

Once you have the printout, your real work starts. Basically,
you will be responsible for checking with the vendor of each
and every program you have installed on your computer's hard drive.
In the accompanying Softnet - from the resource disk, you can link to the
vendors directly, or consult the COTS
listings. You will find the majority of software vendors and their
products listed in the COTS
listing.

ItÆs a time consuming situation, but the reality is you are going to
have to confirm all software you will need in the year 2000 is Year
2000 compatible.

Where possible, Survive 2000 has listed Vendor information with the
file. At the very least, Survive 2000 has given you the location of every
file you will need to check. The most affordable way to check for compliance
is to refer to the COTS
(Commercial Off The Shelf software) listing and determine which of
your programs are fully compliant. If your software is not listed,
go directly to the software vendor and E-mail, fax or phone them.

NOTE: In the COTS information TBA stands for To Be Advised. In other
words, the vendors are yet to release Year 2000 compliant information about
their products.

The following information has been collected from this C: and if fitted

this file, a computer program will Execute.

Due to the complexity and possible variances in computer software, there
is no hard and fast rule on software. This is where the work starts. You
are going to have to identify all the software on the hard drives and make
a valued judgement as to its required ability to handle the Year 2000 and
beyond.

Once you have identified the software you will need to access
and use after the 1st January 2000, you will then need to access
the information contained in the Survive 2000 manual and contact
the software vendors for information regarding the availability and costs
of upgrading the currently installed software to Year 2000 compliant software.
