  26. Master Control Panel (MCP) requires that you be
  27. using an 80486 DX-100Mhz or higher IBM-PC
  28. compatible computer system running Windows 95
  29. -32- or higher.  You must have at least 16Mb of
  30. memory in the system.  A hard disk of at least
  31. 50MB also required.
  32. You must have an VGA or greater video adapter
  33. that has at least 1MB of memory and a mouse.

  41. Master Control Panel (MCP) is a program that
  42. can help the beginner/advanced user for quick
  43. access to Control Panel applets and can help
  44. customize Windows. You can also optimize
  45. HDD's, clear out unwanted data and files,
  46. view what programs are running, customize
  47. your Windows, and MORE!
  48.  
  49. MCP is useful for the technical field as well.
  50. It can determine version, drive usage, delete
  51. temporary files, and more!

  88. ADITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS IN MCP3
  89.  
  90. - Icons updated to conserve memory
  91. - MCP3 can NOW be used as a single application.
  92.   This means that MCP3 does not rely on the taskbar
  93.   when minimized. You can either truly exit MCP3
  94.   or add it to the taskbar! When you choose either
  95.   options, the hint balloons will change as soon
  96.   as you start your selection!
  97. - Instead of starting MCP3 by the Start Menu, you
  98.   can press CONTROL-ALT-E to bring up MCP3! Only
  99.   if you installed MCP3 correctly.
  100. - More shortcut buttons for your customized Windows
  101.   needs!
  102. - Start button changer updated! This can now operate
  103.   even under Windows 98 -first release version.
  104. - Improved file searching methods.
  105. - Improved temporary files deletion methods. MCP3
  106.   can now search for *.BAK, *.OLD, *.TMP, *.~MP
  107.   files!
  108. - Improved 'What's Running' option. If the user
  109.   double clicks on the viewer where the programs
  110.   are running, MCP3 will close out ALL programs!
  111.   Of course, you may have to press F5 in some cases,
  112.   or just answer 'no' to Windows shut down process.
  113.   Some computers may have adverse effects.
  114. - More security features. MCP3 can now do the
  115.   following:
  116.   Disable prompt, registry editing, hide all items
  117.   on desktop, disable drives, hide screensaver,
  118.   disable Network Neighborhood, and MORE!
  119. - Other cosmetics either straight or re-designed.
  120. - Custom installation NOW provided! Before MCP
  121.   build version HAD to be installed in the dir-
  122.   ctory of C:\ENCOM\MCP. Now, you can choose which
  123.   drive and directory to install into.

  132. MCP must be installed via the installation program
  133. provided. If not, MCP3 may not function correctly.
  134. ALSO- if you are upgrading MCP, or replacing MCP-
  135. Make sure you un-install ANY previous versions of
  136. MCP first.

  139. Insert the disk into drive A: or drive B:, and then
  140. switch to that drive by typing A: or B:, and press-
  141. ing ENTER. Or you can do this through My Computer.
  142. Open My Computer - A: - then choose SETUP.EXE

  146. Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs applet)

  148. Then type SETUP.EXE and press ENTER.

  161. ---- Operating MCP -------------
  162. --------------------------------

  165. MCP is pretty easy to use! Just click on the
  166. appropiate buttons to get into certain config-
  167. uration applets via Control Panel. Also, if
  168. you do not know what the items do, hold your mouse
  169. over the button and a balloon helper will explain
  170. what the button or item is.
  171. Changes will not be applied unless you change it.
  172. When MCP starts up, you will see a splash screen.
  173. Then MCP will be sent to the taskbar tray at the
  174. lower right corner- if configured to do to so.
  175. You CAN get MCP to run as a single application.
  176.  (Let's say MCP is used in the taskbar tray):
  177. By clicking the LEFT MOUSE button, you can enable
  178. MCP operations. One RIGHT CLICK on the icon will
  179. deactivate MCP and exit out the program for good.
  180. When MCP is active, there will be a CLOSE button at
  181. the right upper corner. This button is the button
  182. to minimize MCP and tuck it away for further use.
  183. Only right clicking the icon at the taskbar will
  184. de-activate MCP.
  185. There are also a series of other buttons on tabbed
  186. pages that react when the user clicks on them. If
  187. you place your mouse cursor on the buttons, a
  188. help balloon will pop up explaining what each
  189. button represents. Activating the buttons launch
  190. the things specified in the buttons' caption.
  191. Operation MCP is pretty straight forward.

  198. To operate MCP, click on START->PROGRAMS->ENCOM
  199. SYSWARE->MCP. The quick and easiest way is press
  200. CONTROL-ALT-E to bring MCP3 up.
  201. When MCP starts up, you will see a splash screen
  202. for about 2 to 3 seconds. This means MCP was is
  203. ready and ready to function.

  205. TASKBAR OPTION IN MCP3
  206. At the Start Menu taskbar tray, you will see the MCP
  207. icon. Click with your left button to activate- or
  208. right click to de-activate MCP.

  210. SINGLE APPLICATION CONFIG IN MCP3
  211. MCP3 will be running until you click the CLOSE button.
  212. MCP3 then will exit out fully.
  213.  
  214. When MCP is active, it is very easy to operate it.
  215. If you leave the mouse cursor over the buttons-
  216. a little help balloon will pop up to let you
  217. know what you can do.

  219. Clicking the EXIT button at the top will only
  220. minimize MCP.

  229. will keep those who need assistance in the MCP pro-
  230. gram. The best thing is to keep checking in on the
  231. page to look for the latest updates, patches, bugs
  232. or compatibility. This goes especially for the
  233. Start Button changer- since Windows 95 or 98
  234. constantly changes in release versions.

  244. keeps programmers making more apps and
  245. utils! It helps put food on the table
  246. and etc, etc, etc.

  251. - Some parts of MCPLock are disabled
  252. - Security is limited
  253. - Some on the fly configs are limited
  254. - Name banner not enabled
  255. - No support documentation
