~Budget Games
continuing on from past issues, I bring you a few more brief reviews
for other Budget collections, recently released.
These three titles have been released on the Kixx label.
~Lucasarts Collection
Available on disk for 29.99.
Includes The Secret Of Monkey Island, Indiana Jones & The Last
Crusade, Loom, Maniac Mansion, and Zak McKraken and the Alien
Mindbenders. A good collection of classic graphic adventures.
Includes some of the best adventures to be released in the
early 90's. A great package for new comers to the PC. No
great didgitized graphics but loads of great puzzling gameplay.
~Velocity Collection
Available on disk and CD-ROM for 24.99.
Includes Spectre, Jetfighter II & Mission Scenarios/Clue Book.
Well dissapointing package, really your only getting two games,
and they aren't anything spectacular. Comparing Jetfighter to
todays flight sims, will actually show it's age !! Spectre is
a game with a different feel to it, but I wouldn't pay 25 quid
for this unless I really liked Jetfighter II, as this is obviously
the main piece of this package !!
~Access Collection
Available on disk and CD-ROM for 24.99.
Includes Links plus four course. If you were to buy this when it
first came out you would have had to pay 30 quid for the game and
about 16 pounds for the courses. Good value package but don't
expect the game to boast great digitized graphics like Links 386
or PGA TOUR GOLF 486. The graphics are adequate enough to keep
you gluedto the screen, and there's no waiting for the screen
to be drawn !! This is aimed to be more of a golf simulator, than
a arcade game, with plenty of options open to you. If you have a
low-end machine, short on cash and want to buy a golf game, then
I would reccomend this simply for it being the game that started
off others like it !!
~Delphine Collection
Available on disk for 29.99.
Includes Flashback, Another World, Cruise For A Corpse, Future
Wars, Operation Stealth. A nice micture of arcade and adventure.
The first two being great games, introducing a new style of gameplay.
The other three being great classic grphic adventures. The
adventures may show a little age but the puzzling adventuring is
there and will give you hours of enjoyment. Worth a look at if
you want a few good games for your collection.
