Welcome to EF2000 Wireplay. By following the directions found on your
magazine's disk pages you should have no trouble in setting up EF2000
Wireplay. Now all you need to know is how to fly Europe's most sophisticated
fighter.
Learning this first batch of keys will help you actually getting off the ground. The
first time you enter the game you'll find yourself parked outside your hanger.
Turn on your engines, increase your throttle to about 70% and taxi out to the
runway. Line yourself up on the runway and ignite the afterburners. Before you
know it you'll be airborne and ready for you first engagement. Alternatively, you
could "cheat" and ignite those burners right away, just make sure you don't
collide with any of the airfield buildings!
KEY P Pause game, but still have access to the cockpit functions.
KEY G Retracts or lowers the landing gear.
KEY < OR > Move rudder left and right and steer aircraft when taxiing.
KEYS [ and ] Left and right engines on/off.
KEYS + and - Throttle up/down.
NUMERIC KEYPAD * Afterburner on.
NUMERIC KEYPAD / Afterburner off.
KEY B Airbrake on/off
KEY W Wheelbrake on/off
KEY L Auto leveller/ auto recovery.
When you're airborne take a few moments to familiarise yourself with your
cockpit surroundings. You could even have a quick look at the multitude of
camera views. It's wise to learn these, too. A good pilot will know where his foes
are at all times!
NUMERIC KEY 1 Select MFD 1.
NUMERIC KEY 2 Select MFD 2.
NUMERIC KEY 3 Select MFD 3.
NUMERIC KEY 4 Select warning panel.
NUMERIC KEY 5 Select IRST screen.
NUMERIC KEY 6 Select artificial horizon and compass.
NUMERIC KEY 7 Scroll left in 60 degree steps.
NUMERIC KEY 8 Select full HUD view.
NUMERIC KEY 9 Scroll right in 60 degree steps.
KEY F1 Cycles between the full forward cockpit view and the cockpit
and HUD view.
KEY F2 Wide angle cockpit for dogfighting.
KEY F3 Executes a rear looking check on the sky.
KEY F4 Toggles between a standard external view, and several pre-set
camera views.
KEY F6 Fly-by view.
KEY F7 Cycles between a full target view, target and player, player and
target, and a view of the target and his target.
KEY F8 Full external view of the weapon.
KEY F10 Padlocks you onto any enemy plane.
KEY F12 Padlocks you onto an incoming enemy missile.
So, you've mastered the basics of flight, so let's shoot someone down. First
you'll need to select your chosen weapon, either cannon or air-to-air missile.
Then it's simply a case of lining up on your target, making sure he's in range and
"splash one bogie".
ENTER Scroll through the AA weapons.
SPACEBAR Fire weapons.
KEY C Cycles through targets.
KEY E Activate jamming.
INSERT Release chaff manually.
DELETE Release flare manually.
Finally. If you get shot down or crash into the ground you'll re-appear on the
runway. If you were killed by enemy fire you'll have about 20 seconds of
invincibility to get off the ground. If you ploughed into the ground you're fair
game. It's a little mean but shooting pilots while they're on the runway is a great
way to rack up those kill points.
If you are experiencing difficulties in getting EF2000 Wireplay to work you should
call the Wireplay Helpdesk on 0345 577577 (8am - 10pm). Alternatively you can
access the Wireplay web page at HTTP://WWW.WIREPLAY.COM. You could
even visit Digital Image Design's web page at HTTP://WWW.DID.COM. There
you'll find details of DID's forthcoming releases as well as top playing tips.
