  4. Most Unix version have a file here that describes how the scripts
  5. in this directory work, and how the links in the /etc/rc?.d/ directories
  6. influence system startup/shutdown.

  8. For Debian, this information is contained in the policy manual, chapter 3.4:

  14. `debian-policy'.  When this package is installed, the policy manual can be

  19. Make sure you have at least version 2.4.0.0 of the policy manual.
