STORY
Alone in the Wilderness
It was once thought that the mighty Nation of Azeroth had beaten the Horde back and destroyed the gateway to their realm. Indeed, the armies of Azeroth were able to enter the portal and destroy the Horde once and for all...or so it was believed, but stories are filled with half-truths and heresay, owing no credit to those that tell them.
You are Lothar, regional commander of the area known as "Azeroth's Triumph", your forces have the task of routing out the remaining pockets of enemy orcs hiding in the mountains, and destroying them. A minor task to be sure, but one that is necessary for the safety of travellers and merchants.
In the months since Azeroth's victory over the Horde, you have managed to build a fair sized city, with excellent defenses against both ground and air assaults, should there ever be the need. The mountains to your East provide protection from the ground, and your peasants have dug a secret escape path through these mountains, should your city ever be overrun. The peasants have used the fresh granite from the mountains to build a formidable outer wall for your protection.
The Grand Council of Azeroth has deemed it necessary for you to safeguard the location of the former portal, a mile away, "just in case" the prophet's ramblings are true, and a second coming will take place. But these are the words of old men, not warriors like yourself. Yet...
Eight nights ago, in the midst of an eclipse, where the vision of elves is crippled, a tiny flash of light was seen about a mile away; by the owls, the wild boar, but apparently not by your elven sentries. Following this night, a storm the likes of which havn't been seen in a hundred years hit the Nation of Azeroth with thunderous force. With the eclipse passed, the storm lasted a week, and when it broke so did the peacefulness that once graced this land. In it's place, over the bleak horizon, marched an army larger than has ever been seen before.
The mighty army approaches like a black tide over the land. You grit your teeth and await the coming of death itself, and realize with a feeling of dread...you now stand, Alone in the Wilderness...
