Note to user:
I strongly suggest using your standard mouse for selecting cockpit functions.
The TQS mouse buttons (white and red are used for FLARE and CHAFF).
I also recommend using the mouse for panning views once you hit F4 or the
HAT 2 Left button when in rocker up position. Your regular mouse is far more
precise for both of these operations than the mouse buttons on the TQS. If
you were to use the TQS mouse for this sim you will probably not survive
very well.
For versatility I attach a Logitech Trackman Voyager trackball (the kind
made to clip on a laptop computer) onto my TQS base with velcro. I use this
with my left hand to pan the virtual cockpit views and external views.
I use it to set cockpit functions as well but it takes practice to mouse
with your left hand and it is even more challenging if you have never used
a trackball. With a little practice you can become quite good with it.
But even with these difficulties it is far better than the mouse buttons
on the TQS as the mouse.
Rudders are optional but recommended... or use the keyboard commands.
This sim is the first one that I cannot fit all of the controls onto due
to the incredible number of systems and wingman functions. So you will be
required to use a mouse in this sim. The wingman and element and flight
commands that are featured on this file are ones that I have determined,
through many hours of extensive testing of this sim, are the most useful
in a pinch or on ingress or egress. The other commands that are available
are so rarely used or usually used only in a non-engagement situation that
you have time to select them on the keyboard. Flight command menu is opened
with TAB and the AWAC, JSTAR, TOWER menu is opened with SHIFT TAB.
Make sure you are in the appropriate "mode" to use the various commands on
the stick.. some require F4 (VIEW_VR) pressed first.. some require the
NUMLOCK to be ON and some require it to be OFF. That is why there is a
NUMLOCK command on HAT1. Remember that if you use the TFLIR on HAT3 Rocker
in DOWN position that you should NOT move the rocker until AFTER you
release the HAT3 press or you may get a stuck SHIFT command. You can tell
immediately if this happens because you will only see the HUD in the
front view (HAT2 UP) instead of the cockpit art. To fix just go back to
HAT3 ROCKER DOWN and press the HAT3 again in any direction and release
properly before moving the rocker switch.
