Version 3.2a of Las Vegas CRAPS consists of the following changes:
The animation now works fine on faster machines. A bug in
the C compiler I used caused the flying dice and the intro
music to play unrealistically fast on '486 machines. Using
a newer C++ compiler solved the problem.
The menu system has been completely reworked. All dialog boxes
now have a 'newer' look to them. Hot keys are now used in all
dialog boxes.
The intro. screen has been done away with in favor of a more
streamlined version. The offensive musical score is gone
as well.
The odds for Don't Pass or Don't Come bets are now always on.
You now can have Place and/or Buy bets working on a Come out
roll. The older versions of this program had those bets "off"
on a Come out roll, however, in Vegas you have the option of
telling the dealer to have those bets "working" on a come out
roll.
You can now have the odds on a Come bet "on" during a come
out roll. The default is "off", as it is in Vegas.
Using the Odds ON/OFF toggle now only toggles odds on Pass Line
and Come bets.
You can now remove Pass Line or Come bets after they are placed
before the dice are rolled. Therefore, if you place a $10
Pass Line bet and decide to change it to a $20 bet, you
can remove the $10 bet as long as you do so before the dice
are rolled.
Don't Come and Don't Pass bets now can be removed at any time.
The mouse no longer jumps whenever a dialog box pops up.
This was a neat idea for keyboard users but was annoying for
mouse users.
You now start the program with $1000 instead of $500.
The program is no longer called "EGA Craps". The program has
always worked fine on VGA monitors and the EGA reference is
a bit dated.
Throughout older versions of this program I referred to
"Taking Odds" on Pass Line, Come, Don't Come, and Don't Pass
bets. Technically, the term is "Lay Odds" on Don't Come and
Don't Pass bets. I have modified the help screens and the menu
to show this.
The help screens have been updated.
A bug was found in calculating double odds on a Don't Pass
bet on the 5 and 9 if the bet was an odd number.
* NOTE ******************************************************************
With this release, I strongly feel that this is the most complete
and accurate Craps game on the market. However, there is one
concession to accuracy in the game that was added to try to please
a wide variety of players.
In Vegas you will NOT find a table with a $1 minimum bet and a
$1000 maximum bet. You will find tables with limits such as
$5 - $500 or $1 - $100. The reason you will not find tables with
$1 - $1000 limits is that it allows a bet to be doubled nine times
before reaching the house limit. Most casinos set the limits so a
bet could be doubled only six or seven times. This house betting
limit is the reason that progressive betting systems don't work.
* NOTE #2 ****************************************************************
I have seen some strange behavior with this program on machines
running with QEMM386's STEALTH mode. QEMM386 by itself works
great, but I've had a lot of problems getting stealth mode to
work right. I'm not too concerned, however. The machine in
question also had compatability problems with several other
software packages.
