This program produces an excellent true 3-d image in somewhat the same manner
as 3-d movies. The two images on the screen are slightly different from each
other and should be viewed separately--the left triangle only in the left eye
and the right triangle in the right eye, ONLY. To do this you will need to
make a shield to go between the two images. A 4 x 8 file card should be long
enough. If not find something else that can extend from your face to the
monitor. Once the triangles are on the screen let them rotate and try to relax
your eyes. Slow the two images will merge and you'll see a REAL 3-d image.
The image relies on the binocular depth cue of disparity, and can be
manipulated in many ways. Play with it and you'll see some interesting effects
like a flip in the direction of rotation.
Another way to try to see this is to hold your finger about 4 or 5 inches
from your face and focus on it. You should be able to see the triangles in the
background in a blended image.
This program is true public domain...It was made for the fun of it (and
research), and no money was expected in return. I wrote it for myself, and I
thought it might be good enough to share with others. Enjoy!
