I. The Setup
=================
When you start up Breakneck for the first Time, a Setup-Screen will pop-up.
Please choose your video-card in the "Configuration" list. If you don't
have a 3D-Accelarator-Card, please choose "Software engine". The Options
below should just be modified by experienced users. If you need to reset
your setup for any reason, you can do so by double-clicking on the file
"Setup_default.reg" wich is located in the Breakneck Directory
If you don't have a sound card, or your sound card is not
DirectX(TM) 5 compatible, you need to check off the box "SoundFX on".
Then you will not have any sounds while playing the game.
II. Game Description of BreakNeck Demo
======================================
Single Race: Starts a single race. In this demo version there is just one
track.
The full game will have 24 different tracks to race on.
Vehicle Selection: Here you can choose your car. In the demo you may choose
between 4 different cars, the full version will have more then 30 to offer
..
After that click on one of the Sponsors to choose the style of your car, and
you can start!
Arcarde: Not available in Demo
Continue Arcade: Not available in Demo
Timeattack - Best Race: Starts the Time Attack Mode. You will always race
versus your own best-time. You may choose if to start a new Race, by
selecting a track and a car, or you can try to beat an existing time, by
selecting one of the other files.
Time-Attack - Best Lap: The only difference between this and the
"Timeattack-Best Race" Mode is here you have to beat your best lap times.
Multiplayer Mode: Starts a network game. First you have to deceide what kind
of connection you want to establish. If you want to play on a LAN, you
should either choose IPX or TCP/IP. If you want to play using a Modem,
choose the Modem
selection. If you use a direct Cable Connection between your PCs, please
choose the Direct Cable Link. Of course these settings have to be identical
to the ones your opponent uses.
After setting up your connection, you need to deceide if you want to host
the game, or just connecct to a game. Every multiplayer game needs one host,
everybody else will connect to that host. After that you may change your
name.
HOST MODE
While you are waiting for the others to connect, you may select the numbers
of races that you wish to race. After that click on the checkmark, to go on.
The Car&Sponsor Selection is similar to the Single Race.
CLIENT MODE
If you use TCP/IP for your connection, you will receive a Windows Requester,
that you can just answer with OK. If you use a Voodoo1 or Voodoo2 Card, you
will not be able to see the Requester. Just answer it "blind" by
typing ENTER.
After that select your host. While your System is scanning for hosts, it
might appear that your computer hangs - just wait a few seconds, and
everything should be fine. In the next screen you will see the car that the
host selected. If you don't like this choice, just change it.
