  31. THE DDEML.DLL FILE
  32. ==================
  33. We are aware of conflicts with a Windows file titled DDEML.DLL
  34. dated 4/22/92.  The correct version of this file should be found
  35. in your Windows System directory (for example,
  36. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).  If the above file is found in your Windows
  37. directory, and the correct version is found in the Windows System
  38. directory, the file will be automatically deleted from the
  39. Windows directory.

  41. MACRO HELP
  42. ===========
  43. If you are installing PRWin 3.0 for the first time on your
  44. system, and you choose the standard installation, the Online
  45. Macros Manual (or Macros Help) will not be installed.  The PRWin
  46. 3.0 Online Macros Manual is available only under a custom
  47. installation.
  48.  
  49. ERROR 21 WITH WINDOWS HP LASERJET 4 DRIVERS
  50. ===========================================
  51. If an Error 21 occurs while you are printing graphics at 600 dpi
  52. resolution on an HP LaserJet 4 family printer (while using the
  53. Windows printer driver), we recommend that you make the following
  54. changes to the driver settings to possibly allow the document to
  55. print.
  56.  
  57. 1    In Presentations, choose Print from the File menu, then choose
  58.      Select.
  59.  
  60. 2    Highlight the appropriate HP LaserJet 4 Windows printer in
  61.      the Specific Printer list box.
  62.  
  63.      or
  64.  
  65.      Select Windows Default Printer.
  66.  
  67. 3    Choose Setup from the Options drop-down list, then choose
  68.      Options.
  69.  
  70. 4    Change the Graphics Mode from HP-GL/2 to Raster, then
  71.      choose OK.
  72.  
  73. 5    Choose OK to exit the Setup dialog box.  If  your printer
  74.      has additional memory, you may consider turning on the page
  75.      protection option before exiting the Setup dialog box, then
  76.      try printing the graphic again.
  77.  
  78. 6    Choose Close to return to your Presentations document.

  81. CUSTOM WINDOWS COLORS IN HELP
  82. =============================
  83. The PRWin Help screens were designed to use specific colors for
  84. background, text, and so on.  However, if you have customized
  85. your Windows colors, and you would like to use those colors in
  86. the Help screens in PRWin, you can do so by inserting the
  87. following line in the [Windows Help] section of your WIN.INI
  88. file:
  89.

  92. OPTIMIZING PRWin 3.0
  93. ====================
  94. Many performance issues can be resolved by configuring your
  95. computer to run optimally under Windows.  As a starting point, we
  96. suggest the following:
  97.  
  98. - Use a disk cache such as SmartDrive.
  99.  
  100. - Set up a permanent swap file.  For example, one common
  101. configuration is to have the total of your computer's physical
  102. RAM and your swap file equal 16M.
  103.  
  104. - Have an adequate FILES statement in your CONFIG.SYS file.  We
  105. recommend 50 or more if you are running Windows applications.
  106.  
  107. For additional information on optimizing Windows, please refer to
  108. your Windows documentation.

  132.    In addition to the above changes, the WIN_DDE and WIN_CLIPBOARD
  133.    settings must be "On" (the default setting). If you have modified
  134.    these defaults on either the 3.1 Session or Data Exchange pages
  135.    of the "Win-OS/2 Setup" object, you will get the error message
  136.    "PRWin cannot communicate with the WorkPlace Shell."

  139.    Color Palette Problems
  140.  
  141.    Use the /sw switch on the command line to prevent color
  142.    palette problems when running Seamless Windows on the OS/2
  143.    WorkPlace Shell.
  144.

  146.    Printing from the Network
  147.  
  148.    If you are having difficulty printing from an LPTx: printer
  149.    port when using a network printer, try using the
  150.    corresponding LPTx.OS2 printer port.
  151.  
  152. SHARED CODE LOCATION AND UNC PATHS
  153. ==================================
  154. If you are using GroupWise 4.1 and/or WPWin 6.0a, UNC paths
  155. should NOT be specified for the location of Shared Code.  If
  156. UNC is used, these apps won't start unless 2.3 Shared Code
  157. is already running.
  158.  
  159. LATEST DOCUMENTATION CHANGES
  160. =================================================================
  161. The Perspective feature was removed.  Use the Quick-3D and
  162. QuickWarp features from the Graphics menu to customize the
  163. appearance of objects, QuickArt, and text.

  166. GRAPHICSLAND COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE
  167. =================================================================
  168. We have included communication software provided by GraphicsLand.
  169. This software allows you to send your .SHW files to GraphicsLand
  170. directly via modem.

  172. If the GraphicsLand Icon was not added to your Presentations
  173. program group during install, you can add the Icon by selecting 
  174. File | New from the Program Manager for the following file:

  179. SLIDE SERVICE BUREAU INFORMATION
  180. =================================================================
  181. If you want to make slides with Presentations 3.0 for Windows
  182. but do not have access to a film recorder, a slide service bureau
  183. could produce your slides.

  185. To use a slide service, you need to save and send your files in a
  186. specified format.  Before you send your files, contact your slide
  187. service to determine the preferred file format, speed of
  188. turnaround, and shipping preferences.
  189.

  192. inclusive; there may be slide service bureaus in your local area
  193. capable of creating slides from your files.
