In one of the few outstanding moments of the short-lived career of the Morane-Saulnier 406 fighter, a French pilot, Captain Wuillame, scored an impressive victory on 8 June, 1940. He shot down three Bf 109s in one fifteen second engagement. Also on that day, nine of his squadron mates shot down nine more Bf 109s for the loss of only two of their own.
