THE STORY
=========
In the 24th century, on the planet Redavi, a colony is flourishing.
It's population varies from high-ranking military personnel and scientists to
hospitality and nursing staff, with an additional contingent of robots.
The colonists are widespread, but tightly bonded, with bases ranging from the
sub-arctic ice mine Polaris, to the desert Botanicus, to the aquatic base Oceanus
situated on alien shores. The colony's guardians consist of a space station in
high orbit known as Peace, and a lunar base, Tranquility, on the nearest of Redavi's moons.
Peace serves as the initial colonization and observation point for Redavi.
Originally designed to serve as port for incoming ships, Peace has now become a home to the
various shifts of colonists. At some time in his or her life, every colonist has visited Peace.
The colonists are on Redavi to harvest and process urgently needed food and energy supplies
for a stricken Earth. Commander Emile F. Batista is Redavi's overseer. With the
responsibility of preserving both Earth and his colony heavy on his shoulders.
The Hunjak have come to Redavi, having destroyed their previous world. Like a plague of
locusts, they sucked their planet dry of resources, abandoning it only as the last flickers
of life left the biosphere. Redavi is their chance to start again.
At first glance, the Hunjak young appear to be just another new alien creature. The colonists
have always been able to overcome these sorts of minor menaces with regular weapons.
But the Hunjak is an altogether different type of creature, one that can learn and adapt
chemically and genetically within a single generation. The Hunjak seek not only Redavi but the
location of a greater prize. The prize the colonists call "Earth".
