A chipper-canter saws small logs. This machine has rotating <I>heads</I> (knives) that chip wood from the top, bottom, and sides of logs. A set of circular saws cuts each log into rectangular pieces called <I>cants.</I> Devices called <I>splitters</I> then separate the cants.
