Babe Ruth (1895-1948) ranks as one of baseball's most famous players. He thrilled fans with his long and frequent home runs. While playing for the New York Yankees, he hit more than 50 home runs in four different seasons, including a record 60 home runs in 1927. By the time he retired in 1935, he had hit 714 home runs.
