QUICK-VIEW DOCUMENTATION VON TOMO¢---------------------------------¢¢Just before I explain Quick-view to¢you, let me thank KRACTWERK for¢allowing me to write his doc, he told¢me that a doc wasn't needed because the¢program is so easy to follow, but as¢John.E insisted, I said I'd do it for¢him.¢Anyway, the Quick-view creator is a¢Basic program that will transfer any¢data-file created with the database¢program by AJ Davies and MJ Hughes into¢a small (usually) machine-code bootable¢program which can be booted-up from the¢disk it's written too, or even from a¢menu such as Multi-boot or Howfen 3.08.¢¢When QV-Creator is up-and-running,¢you'll be asked to insert the disk¢where your data-file is to be located,¢a directory of all the data-files (ext¢.DAT) will be displayed and an input¢line will await you. Note that the last¢data-file on the disk will be in the¢input line, if this is the file you¢wish to convert then just press RETURN,¢otherwise write the correct file in its¢place ensuring any unnecessary¢characters are deleted and as before,¢press RETURN.¢The program will then attempt to read¢the data-file in question. The program¢was designed so that if any errors¢should occur then control will be¢passed back to Basic, thus, to try¢again, you should RUN the program.¢Refer to your Basic manual if the error¢re-occurs, because YOU'RE doing¢something WRONG! If you're still¢getting problems then hunt me down and¢drive a tree-trunk through my left lug!¢(or buy me a pint and I'll help you!).¢¢The next part of the program will ask¢you to insert a ready formatted¢destination disk, simply follow the¢instructions and you can't go far¢wrong, but what if you haven't a ready¢formatted disk!? Then TOUGH! No,¢actually you can press BREAK and type:¢XIO 253,#1,33,87,"D:" which will format¢the disk in the active drive, so be¢sure to swap disks if you do this. To¢continue with the program, type CONT.¢¢Once the data is written to the¢formatted disk, the program then asks¢for a label-name so that you can¢identify your data! Enter a name with a¢maximum of 10 letters/numbers and press¢return. When the disk stops spinning¢for the last time and an ALL DONE¢prompt appears, you may boot the disk¢(make sure you're wearing Dr.Martins¢for best results!).¢¢WALA! Several seconds later (or¢milli-seconds if you have a US Doubler¢fitted) a splendid blend of natural¢atari-colours of darkest-shade should¢be flowing through YOUR data! Now, if¢your data was in alphabetical order on¢the data-base disk, then have-no-fear,¢it still is. It may appear a little¢mixed at first, but it is now on a¢horizontal-plain. To view the rest of¢your data (assuming you have more than¢2 titles!) simply manipulate your thumb¢and forefinger on the OPTION and SELECT¢console keys.¢Well, you should now be an expert at¢operating QV-Creator, so I'll say¢goodbye for now, over to you John.¢¢TomoHawk!¢
