- 1. Introduction
-
- Earth invasion is a fun to play space combat game. In this game, you
- are a fighter pilot for the Yanchooz. They are an evil race led by the
- terrifying Emperor Xyfud Plasfoc and they try to conquer every form of life
- in the universe.
-
- The Yanchooz did succesfully conquer many races but they have problems
- with the humans. Your main goal is to destroy all terran resistance from
- the planet Xanculkor to the Earth. This way, the Yanchooz race will be
- able to launch a massive attack against the human HQ. If you succeed,
- you will make the Yanchooz the most powerfull race of the universe.
-
- But there is one major problem. You will have to do the job in solo.
- In fact, before this mission, you had nothing but poor results as a
- fighter pilot. To tell you the truth, you have been selected to do this
- mission because the Yanchooz Imperial comission wants you dead. They send
- you on this mission so you can do as much damage as possible to the
- humans before they kill you. The only thing that can save your life now
- is the total success of your mission.

-
- 5. The game.
-
-
- 5.1 Playing the game
-
- To start the mission, choose the option "Start your mission" from the
- menu. You will then receive your pre-mission briefing and leave the planet.
- To achieve your main goal, you must pass throught 10 missions. Each one
- of them provide you with five fighter-fighter fight and one fighter-capital
- ship fight. Unregistered user will only be allowed to do the first five
- mission and, therefore, will be unable to achieve the final goal.
-
- For each of the ten mission, you will recieve an onboard communication
- that tell you exactly what to do.
-
- Once in a fight, you can use the controler to move your ship up and
- down while using the firebutton to fire at enemy ship. Keep a look
- at your shield level. Every time you get a shot from the enemy, your
- shield level is going down. if it gets below 0, you are dead. Your
- ship is equipped with 30 HIJKE* to shield converters which
- can help regenerate your shield when it is too low. Every time you catch
- a HIJKE capsule, one of your converter is used to regenerate your shield.
-
- * HIJKE is a form of energy used by the Yanchooz for many purposes. Some
- HIJKE float into space and look like yellow capsule with blue sparks.
-
-
- 5.2 THE SHIP'S BOARD
-
-
- At the left most part of the board, you can see your shield level. You
- will have to look there very often.
-
- At the right most part of the board, you can see the comunication
- and status computer board.
-
- At the center top, you see your position indicator. This instrument
- show you how far you are from your goal.
-
- In the lower part of the board, on the right, you can see your score,
- and, on the left, the amount of HIJKE to shield converters left.
-
-
-
- 5.3 THE CONTROLLER
-
-
- 5.3.1 Joystick
-
-
- Push the stick up to make your ship go up and pull it down to
- make your ship go down. Press any firebuttons to shoot at enemy.
-
-
- 5.3.2 Keyboard
-
- Press the SHIFT key to make your ship go up and the CTRL key
- to make your ship go down. Press the ALT key to fire at enemy.
-
-
-
- With any of the controller, you can use the F7 key to save your game
- (registered user only) and the F3 key to toggle sound on and off. The
- save game option always save at the status of your ship when the last
- mission started. For example, suppose you save your game at mission 7 when
- you passed throught 3 fights. When you will restore it, you will have to
- start mission 7 at the begining.
-
-
-
- *Using the joystick is not recommended if you have a slow computer. To
- maintain a maximum compatibility with all system, I used the slow
- BIOS interrupt instead of direct port access.
-
-
-
- 6. TROUBLESHOOTING.
-
-
- 1. You are not able to enter the game.
-
- Three possibility can bring that problem:
-
- -Some files are missing.
- -The file REGQUIZ.REG contains information that MUST NEVER BE
- MODIFIED. If the program detect any modification in this file,
- it will abort the game.
- -Your system is not a 80286 or better.
-
- *NOTE: If these files have been modified, you are asked not to
- upload the program on any BBS. You should try to get
- a clean copy of the program before doing so. If you can't
- find one you can order the game from the adress below. It
- will cost 10$. You will receive the code sheet and the
- secret pasword. Specify you want a copy of the program.
-
- 2. You cannot restore a saved game.
-
- - Perhaps the saved file have been erased or modified.
- - Only registered user can use this option.
-
-
- 3. The game is too slow.
-
- -Try playing with the keyboard instead of the joystick.
-
-
-
- 7. REGISTERING EARTH INVASION.
-
-
- It is my hope that Earth Invasion will be a great source of enjoyement
- to all. It has been released as shareware to reach the most people. I
- believe that shareware is a good way to entertain people for a lesser
- price. This program is complete. However, you will have to register to
- get to some parts of the program.
-
- If you enjoy Earth Invasion and wish to register, send a check payable
- to Eric Boutin to the following adress:
-
