  1. To complete the game, you must carefully determine your routes through ì
  2. each screen in turn, with the aim of defusing the time-bomb by passing ì
  3. over it. However, before the time-bomb can be defused, you musty ì
  4. first:-
  5. (a) collect all diamonds (including those concealed in safes or cages)
  6. (b) collect the golden crown
  7. (c) kill all the monsters
  8.  
  9. Each screen has a time-limit and, if you do not complete the screen ì
  10. within this time-limit, the time-bomb will explode and you will lose a ì
  11. life. Repton can, however, travel backwards in time because whenever a ì
  12. time-capsule is collected the time-bomb's clock is reset.
  13.  
  14. Each screen comprises a series of puzzles. many of these are ì
  15. interlinked and you may have to solve a number of small puzzles to ì
  16. enable you to tackle a large one. The puzzles maym in some cases, seem ì
  17. impossible - but we assure you that Repton 3 can be completed.
  18.  
  19. Rocks will fall if unsupported and should one land on you it will kill ì
  20. you. You must also avoid the monsterr, spirits, skulls and fungas - ì
  21. contact with these is fatal.
  22.  
  23. When an egg falls, it cracks upon landing and a monster hatches out. ì
  24. The monsters are killed by pushing or dropping rocks on them.
  25.  
  26. There may be upto 8 spirits on each screen. They always follow the ì
  27. walls to their left until they reach a cage. When a spirit enters a ì
  28. cage, it changes into a diamond. A spirit may become dazed if you drop ì
  29. rocks onto it or collect all the diamonds immediately surronding it. ì
  30. This is to be avoided as the spirit will then move endlessly in a ì
  31. small circle.

  33. Watch out for the poisonous fungas which grows incessantly sealing ì
  34. your fate. Trap it in by surrouding it with rocks if you can, or you ì
  35. may never live to collect the golden crown.
  36.  
  37. Your route may be blocked by a safe. If so, you must locate a key ì
  38. which open all of the safes on the screen revealing a diamond within.
  39.  
  40. Each screen may have a maximum of 4 transporters. They cause you to be ì
  41. rematerialised at some other location on the screen, but each ì
  42. transporteer can be used once only.
  43.  
  44. After each screen has been completed you should write down the Editor ì
  45. Code, this will allow you to edit the screens using the up and coming ì
  46. screen editor.
  47.  
  48. Scoring:    5 points - for collecting a diamond
  49.            25 points - for killing a monster
  50.            50 points - for collecting a crown
  51.

  59.               ESCAPE - Kill Yourself (useful if you  become trapped)
  60.              SHIFT-R - Restart Game
  61.                ALT-X - Return to DOS

  63. Note: The PRELUDE screen set are automatically loaded on startup. An
  64.       additional 16 screens are available in the AMERICA and ARCTIC    ì
  65.       files. Use the L option to load these screens. Additional
  66.       levels may be available in the future.
