- M.Y.O.B.—Navigation
-
- ÀáWindowsÀá
-
- With the exception of the Command Center window, all windows in M.Y.O.B. are
-
- standard Macintosh windows. The name of the window is centered in the
-
- titlebar at the top. You may move a window by clicking and dragging the
-
- title bar. To save the location of your windows, select Customize M.Y.O.B.
-
- in the Administration command center.
-
-
-
- The close box is the small square on the left side of the title bar. Click it to
-
- close the window.
-
-
-
- For data entry windows, unless you are warned otherwise, when you close the window
-
- the contents of the window are saved. If there is a Cancel button, click it and
-
- the window closes. Any changes made to the data in a canceled window are erased.
-
-
-
- Click and drag the grow box at the lower right corner to adjust the size of the
-
- window. Click the zoom box at the upper right to toggle between full-screen and
-
- the adjusted window size.
-
-
-
- The button with the thin black line around it is the default button. Pressing
-
- Enter activates it.
-
-
-
- If more than one window is open, use the Windows menu to choose among them.
-
-
-
- ÀáDialog BoxesÀá
-
- M.Y.O.B. uses modal dialog boxes. When a dialog box is open you may not do
-
- anything else until you close the dialog box by clicking one of the buttons at the
-
- bottom.
-
-
-
- The button with a thick black line around it is the default button. Pressing
-
- Return activates it.
-
-
-
- ÀáCommand CentersÀá
-
- There are seven command centers listed on the left side of the command center
-
- window. Click one, and the right side of the window displays the functions
-
- available for the selected command center. M.Y.O.B. uses a flow chart analogy to
-
- express the relationship between the functions.
-
-
-
- Click the name of the function you wish to perform.
-
-
-
- Alternatively, all command center functions are listed under the Command
-
- Center menu selection.
-
-
-
- ÀáArrowsÀá
-
- Throughout M.Y.O.B. are small arrows next to names, account balances, invoice
-
- numbers, etc. Click the arrow to zoom to the detail information for this field.
-
-
-
- ÀáCard File IconÀá
-
- Most times, when M.Y.O.B. asks you to link a sale to a customer card or a
-
- purchase to a vendor card, you have no choice; you must select a card. If you
-
- press Tab or Return, you cannot leave the field without selecting a card.
-
- However, there are a few places in M.Y.O.B.—like the payee on a check—where a
-
- card name is optional. Pressing Tab or Return moves you to the next field. A
-
- small card file icon appears next to the optional fields. Click the icon to see, or
-
- select from a card file list.
-
-
-
- ÀáControl Panel IconsÀá
-
- The To Do List window and the Analysis windows have a control panel at the
-
- bottom. Click an icon to change the display. If there’s a bent arrow in the
-
- control panel, click it to redisplay the selection dialog.
-
-
-
- ÀáSelecting From a Search ListÀá
-
- Before entering an account, inventory item, job or card name, you can look at
-
- the entire list. This is called a 'search list.'
-
-
-
- Accounts, inventory items and jobs are selected by number. Cards are selected
-
- by company name (or, if an individual, last name).
-
- There are a few ways to select from a search list:
-
-
-
- 1. Type a unique number (or card name) and press Tab. It is selected and
-
- you jump to the next field.
-
-
-
- 2. Type a non-unique number (or card name) and press Tab. The search list
-
- appears with the closest match selected. Press Return to accept it. To
-
- select another, use the up and down arrows to highlight it and press
-
- Return, or simply double-click it.
-
-
-
- 3. Press Tab (or Command-L) without typing anything and the search list
-
- appears with the first entry selected. Use the 'Search for' field to enter a
-
- complete or partial account number (or name) and press Tab. M.Y.O.B.
-
- finds the closest match. Press Return to accept it or use the 'Search for'
-
- field again.
-
-
-
- ÀáNote:Àá Method 3 is not available for entering an optional card name (see Card
-
- File Icon).
-
-
-
- Most search lists have a New button. Click it to enter a new account, item, job
-
- or card. When you accept the new entry, M.Y.O.B. zooms back to the original
-
- window. Type the new number or name and press Tab.
