Transcription: Western Coneflower is a flower with a dark brown head which consists of dark tubular disc flowers. The ray flowers are absent. This plant flowers from the latter part of June to August. The Western Coneflower grows in moist soil, especially along stream banks and is often associated with aspen groves. It is usually found from the foothills through the montane zone and is distributed from Washington south to California and east to Colorado. Most wildlife species will not forage this species.
