- "Get URL" BBEdit/EasyView Extension
- -----------------------------------
- Version 1.3 of June 95
-
- This extension calls various Internet software to decode
- URL's. Usable from BBEdit and Easy View.
-
- Easy View 2.6 calls this extension on command-click.
-
- **What's New in 1.3**
- * Compatible with Internet Config 1.1
- * No bookmark files on the desktop
- * Works with e-mail addresses
-
- **How to Use**
- Place the extension into your "BBEdit Extensions" and/or
- "EV Extensions" folder. You don't need to restart the
- machine, this is not a system extension.
-
- **More Information**
- Version 1.3 makes use of Internet Config by Lewis & Quinn.
- Thus it recognizes the Helpers and Info-Mac mirrors you
- have set in the Internet Preferences. It also accepts
- addresses of the form user@machine or /info-mac/dir/file;
-
- If "Internet Preferences" is not found, Get URL works the
- same way as Version 1.2 did.
- Four types of URL are recognized in this mode:
- * ftp:
- * /info-mac/
- * gopher:
- * http:
- The first two go to Anarchie and the last two to MacWeb.
-
- Partial URL: If you need part of the URL, just select it
- first. Then choose "Get URL" menu item. Command-click
- will select the full URL.
-
-
- This extension is dedicated to
-
- * Adam Engst, who wrote in TidBITS#211
-
- > I'm looking forward to the day when you can select a URL
- > in TidBITS, hit a hot key or select an item from a menu,
- > and have Anarchie snag the file for you instantly.
-
- * Peter Lewis, who told me in a private message
-
- > Get yourself MacTCP and get on the network
- > -- life's too short for anything less.
-
- * and John Norstad, who invented option-click and told me
- how to do it easily.
-
- Thanks.
