Every disk has two invisible files the Desktop DB and the Desktop DF. Your computer uses these desktop files to know where and how to draw icons and other things it needs to keep track of. The problem is that these files can become bloated and corupt over time. Fortunatly you can rebuild them to get a fresh start so your computer will run better and those files will take up less space. You can rebuild those desktop files now and restart your computer (above). Or even better set your computer to rebuild the desktop on a regular basis (below) so you don't have to worry about this ever again.
