Transcription: At the end of World War II, Berlin lay in ruins. The city was divided by the Allies. By 1961, the communist East German government constructed a wall designed to stop the flood of people escaping to the West. For almost 30 years, courageous Germans tried to cross the Berlin Wall. Many were killed trying. In October of 1990, Berlin was reunited and the symbol of the divided city and the Cold War era was shattered.
